Current Line-Up Styx Cancelled show

I certainly would like a Damn Yankees tour. To an extent, I was disappointed when Styx continued beyond the 1996 reunion because that didn't bode well for a DY reunion. Before the Styx thing, there was some talk of a DY tour and album in the mid-90s. I've pretty much given up on it now. I know Tommy's a touraholic and all that, but wow, to just jump in with DY after all this touring with Styx---that would just blow my mind. The guy has more energy than me, that's for sure!

Yes, he's a total touraholic!! But he really needs to get some sleep. In a lot of his "Hello Friends" letters he mentions how tired he's been. He's going to burn himself out bigtime.

He has a ton more energy than me too!!

I'm sure there are people right at this very second trying to put together a Ted Nugent/Night Ranger/Damn Yankees / current line-up Styx tour together for Spring 2006. Just have to get all parties to agree, that's all folks.

5.0 was used to refer to Styx without DDY. Gowan, Shaw, JY, Sucherman, Burtnik. 5.1 was any 5.0 show with Chuck.

AX is "AXE." ;-)

Why? Who "coined" this phrase, someone from a message board or the band. I really never paid attention to this until I went back and read posts and saw it again.

Sorry, but I can't stop laughing. If anyone has anytime, go back and read the old posts like on page 18 and 17. Those are funny posts. And how everyone used to fight on here and the funny comments. It's almost like the Journey board now, but just a little tamer.

I know that. I was talking about Styx 5.0, 5.1 and also it's mentioned 6.0, I just don't get these little codes they started to use - LOL

I'm not actually sure where it originally came from. All I know is that there came a point when I had to ask too because I was reading it so much. You had 1.0, which was pre-Tommy, 2.0 = glory Styx, 3.0 = with Burtnik on lead, 4.0 = with Todd on drums, then 5.0 with Gowan. I don't know what Froy's babbling about. ;-)

Okay, I thought there were all these goofy versions. Is 6.0 with Ricky now - LOL And then the 2006 version will be 7.0? LOL

I don't know what Froy's babbling about.

That's why I was laughing about going back to the old pages. FUNNY stuff!!! You won't get a migrane, just a stomach ache from laughing.

As long as the line up stays the same, it'll stay at 6.0 LOL

OK. I went back and read spme old posts frpm page 17, and I found one funny POST (singular) by Yogi about JY's finances. Everything else was more of the same tired crap we still bicker about today (from the same people); only you, Suite, seem much less bitter now. :-D

The "funny thread" was on page 18. Nothing changed at all, that's why it was even funnier reading it.

As for me, I'm less bitter on the boards since I have to prepare for the DeYoung/Shaw concert next year - LOL

See, it'd just be easier if we called them Styx

Of course, that would just kill some people to do, for fear of being misinterpreted as suddenly being ok with the new lineup.

You got that right ek. I see a big difference between Classic Styx and Current Styx so I note the difference when I am discussing the two bands.

Well, first of all, I doubt it will ever happen.

If it did, DY should close - BECAUSE THEY ARE THE SUPERGROUP!

And, I doubt NR could draw anything...other then styck figures.

What I mean by that is THEY are the band that borrows members from all of the others. It's a 'supergroup' in the same way that Bad English is.

Besides, if DY reunited, they would instantly be bigger then either Styx or NR...simply because of Ted Nugent. I mean, Ted's ego is big enough for both of those bands combined. I can't imagine a tour like this happening without DY closing.

Not to mention the rest of 'em are probably scared of Ted, and his love of guns, knives + his extensive knowlege in how to use em !!!!!

He's kind of scary that way.

I don't think there is any question that Damn Yankees owes 100% (ok, 98%) of its popularity to Ted Nugent. Had he not been in the group, I do not see that group doing anything in CD sales or concert tickets.

I agree with Monker. That reunion is entirely based on the return of Nugent. And, if there were this "Supertour", the closer would have to be, naturally, the Supergroup.

Ned is nothing IMO, he can't sing, playing great at times, and sucks at others. It's Jack and Tommy that made the group.-ERIC

Sounds a lot like Dennis vs. JY and Tommy reasoning to me :D

Seriously though, great subject to debate, considering Nugent's popularity was at an all-time low at the time (I think) and DY came on the heels of three subpar Tommy albums (commercially speaking). Not sure what Night Ranger was doing at the time, but wasn't that around the Gary Moon era? My only conclusion can be that Michael Cartellone deserves all the credit!!!!!!

My understanding is that the last time thy proposed a triple bill -NUGENT, STYX, NIGHT RANGER that would have a DY reunion during Nugents set fell through because STYX"s and NUGENT's lawyers could not come to terms with the money split and Nugent wanted STYX and His band to trade off the headlineing spots each night and JY was insisting that STYX should be the headliner. If I'm not remembering this correctly I'm sure some of you will correct me.

As far as Damn Yankees headlining a bill with Nugent Solo and STYX on the bill - Never happen, too many egos involved in the STYX and Nugent camp. Just my opinion (But I Think I'm Right!) :)

You're right, but I "heard" and I can't find an article (or source in writing) to back it up, that it was mostly JY that put the stops on this one for the reason you mentioned.

I think you're right too. But this would be nice, for the fans if this did come together. It's always about money for the most part, bummer.

I have a couple articles, like usual. Here's one:

http://www.classicrockrevisited.com/Int ... Blades.htm

Clyde: So we still may see Damn Yankees sometime in the future I take it? It sounds like the door has not been completely closed yet.

Jack: That’s right. We have not closed the door. As a matter of fact, we were supposed to go on tour this summer with Nugent, Night Ranger and Styx and then do a Damn Yankees thing. I don’t know what happened, but for some reason that didn’t work out. That would have been a great tour.

Here's from a 2004 article, I can't find the link:

We have recently read that there is a possibility of Night Ranger, Ted Nugent and Styx touring together in 2004, what can you tell us about that?

I know that would have been great but the powers that be screwed that one up ... too bad some people don't have the fans best interest at heart ... just money.
