No offense.............but

I doubt you'll find a real Styx Board anymore. Everything's been pretty dead out there with Styx.

The closest one is Styxland. You'll find some of "us" on there and some of "them" on here

Tommy's fourth wife cut in on the second verse and sang 'Make me an offer that I cant refuse'. It might be one of the rarest Styx recordings out there.

It came out as a single(45) and was backed(flip side) by a live version of Miss America. It's the only live version where JY doesnt come out and say "Are You Ready, Are You Ready, I said Are You Ready forrrrr......... Miss America.'

I purchased the single at the time because all of the proceeds went to benefit The United Negro College Fund. With all the moving that we have done I dont have a clue to where it is.

P.S. If I remember correctly Tommy's fourth wife didnt sound half bad. She sounded an aweful lot like Leo Sayer. I remember thinking to myself 'this is the chick that has the Endless Flight Album & sings You Make Me Feel Like Dancing'.

Oh lighten up. If the die hards can't make fun of the band in a harmless way, who can?

None of the guys in Styx were angels at one point or another. "Snowblind" is about cocaine - no hiding that.

The honest truth is that yes, there is a new Styx CD coming out with 2 new tracks. But there's not much else in the way of news in Styx or DDY land other than that. So we choose to kid around. We're horrible!

And ... there's no use in waxing rhetoric around the good old days - that's long gone. There's no use in bashing Styx or DDY, either.

So get over yourself. If you want to believe that this verison of Styx is the best ever and that DDY is best out of Styx, great, but most of us support both sides of the coin. I've seen both multiple times live and have been critical in one way or another of both shows at one point or another.

The ones who are only Styx or only DDY are a minority. If you put yourself in one of those, you place yourself there as well.

It goes beyond just making "fun" in a "harmless" way.

Basicaly, you can't start a thread on this forum celebrating Styx without the same few people coming in and shtting all over it. That's just the way it is. It's just not worth trying...and hasn't been for a VERY long time.

The honest truth is that yes, there is a new Styx CD coming out with 2 new tracks. But there's not much else in the way of news in Styx or DDY land other than that. So we choose to kid around. We're horrible!

Uh, huh...sure.

Both Dennis and Styx are touring Styx has a CD and DVD, and it sounds like they are working on a new CD for next year...and Shaw/Blade's CD is coming out, and it sounds like they may do a tour too.

No, there's nothing to talk about....NOTHING.

The bottom line is that the same few have ruined so many threads like this one that hardly anybody even posts anything related to new Styx - and many have simply stopped posting ANYTHING. It's just not worth the effort.

So get over yourself. If you want to believe that this verison of Styx is the best ever and that DDY is best out of Styx, great, but most of us support both sides of the coin. I've seen both multiple times live and have been critical in one way or another of both shows at one point or another.

I don't think that's true at all...that most people here support "both sides"...at least not the most vocal among you. SOME of you do...but not most. Most people "support" one side and do not care one way or the other about the other. You are not "supporting" something by sarcasticaly tearing it down all the time.

Monker - I think it's HILARIOUS that you, of all people, would complain about people shitting all over threads - something you do EVERY DAMN CHANCE YOU GET. The facts are - you can dish it out, but you cannot take it. People like you and ChicagoStyx and several others are just not capable of taking the same shit you've been force-feeding people here for years. So don't get all on a high-horse about how we're ruining your experience.

Because you're just reaping what you sew.

If you're leaving because you can dish it out without taking it - then good riddance.

Everything I've posted here today is done in the same satirical(sp) way that I've always posted. Because some *choose* to get offended is not my problem.

Besides - I'm only saying things on a message board that we bathwater drinkers are even reading. It's not HALF as bad as the stuff that comes out of James Young's mouth every interview he gets that is in newspapers, and radio stations. JY makes fun of Dennis art, his work, his wife and everything that Dennis has created WITH JY for the last 30 years. Yet - somehow that's excusable and gets a pass - but turn it around on someone elses faults and somehow I've committed a crime. Frankly - with all due respect - screw you. I don't care if you get offended and DO leave because it just further exposes the complete hippocracy of what you believe.

I wonder what would happen if Dennis went on radio and talked about how Tommy's behavior contributed to the demise of the band in that he became reckless and unpredictable. I mean - lets face it. Tommy stopped writing good songs about 1980 and didn't really get his shit together until Damn Yankees. There are some ok songs here and there, but Tommy was too stoned and horney to think about anyone but Tommy at that time. And it cost him a lot more than his band. Dennis would have been a FOOL to take creative input from someone so fundamentally fucked up on drugs that they smash their hand into things - costing everyone time... and money.

Do I know JY was on drugs? Honestly? No I don't. I'm sure he was at some point - hell they all were. But you start messing around with cocaine and heavy duty drugs like that it not only impairs your judgement, it impairs your ability to perform, your ability to create, and your ability to do your job. And when you're in a band and you have 4 other guys on your team, you owe it to your team to keep your shit together.

I've said a lot more than I wanted to say here - but I just don't get how it's somehow taboo to say anything negative about the other guys in the band who have made some really, REALLY shitty decisions (like Tommy selling his rights to Styx for $5000) but it's ok to talk about how you think Babe ruined the band. Babe didn't ruin the band... The guys IN the band contributed to ruining the band. PERIOD.

Post Script:
I just wanted to add that while I've been VERY critical, I've not been pure 100% negative about what they're doing. Heck, just today I said I thought it was valliant for them to release a recording with 10 songs that almost nobody will associate with Styx. It may not work but what the hell right? I ain't gonna buy it... and I think they're trying to rip off and piggyback on trails Dennis has already travelled, but hey - at least they're being true to who is in the band. I wouldn't care if they stopped playing Dennis' songs altogether - and I'd never complain about it. Of course, we all know that won't happen.

I haven't started a thread like this one since you guys shit all over the BBT one I started back when it came out.

As for the "don't get all high-horse"...THAT is basicaly what I am telling Allen. All of his "lighten up!" and "honest truth" is rooted in bullshit. Hell, this post by you is proof enough of that.

As for the "reaping what you sew" crap, you're exactly right. You guys shit all over so many threads that this forum struggles to even survive. You guys have discouraged enough Styx fans from posting that you don't even have them to argue with any longer.

And, as for me ruining threads....when was the last time THAT happened here? This forum is pretty insignificant to me nowadays.

Finally...Me leaving? Who said THAT was happening? Just don't care enough to post much.

What was that you said about reaping what you sew?

That has NOTHING to do with what I said. The bottom line is this starts out as a thread about new Styx music and a fan's excitement about it. Then, just a few posts later, it turns into a sarcastic fest of bullshit....supposedly in the name of "fun".

What does a fan sharing his thoughts about "One With Everything" have to do with JY ripping on Dennis? NOTHING. If tearing apart JY is so important to you in such a vengeful way...why not start your own thread to show how much you hate him? Why do you have to taint a thread like this one?

I wonder what would happen if Dennis went on radio and talked about how Tommy's behavior contributed to the demise of the band in that he became reckless and unpredictable. I mean - lets face it. Tommy stopped writing good songs about 1980 and didn't really get his shit together until Damn Yankees. So? I really don't care. That has NOTHING to do with what I was talking about.

Has it impaired your ability to let a thread talk about Styx in a good way, instead of joining Froy's of the forum and stomping the thread out of existence? Is cocaine the reason you can't leave threads like this alone?

I've said a lot more than I wanted to say here - but I just don't get how it's somehow taboo to say anything negative about the other guys in the band who have made some really, REALLY shitty decisions (like Tommy selling his rights to Styx for $5000) but it's ok to talk about how you think Babe ruined the band. Babe didn't ruin the band... The guys IN the band contributed to ruining the band. PERIOD.

Get your fucking head out of the sand and read what I posted. Why is it SO IMPORTANT to talk about such things in a thread CELEBRATING Styx. Why do you have to take your angst and ruin the thread for the people who DO like what Styx is currently doing? Why can't you start your own thread and whine and complain about such things? Does Styx having positive attention annoy you THAT much?

And, yeah, I'm picking on you cuz you replied...but there are others doing the same thing.

I genuinely think for the most part, the majority of those who post here do respect each other's opinions and points of view. Each "side" makes posts in jest and posts where they vent what they perceive to be slights and put downs...both aimed at posters and the various band members.

While Styx is getting set to release some new material, I am sensing general apathy towards them by the majority of fans who frequent chat rooms and forums. There seems to be a sense from everyone collectively of "been there, done that'.

I am not singling out one side over the other. I hope the band continues to do what makes it's members happy (and hopefully the fans too), just as I wish that for Dennis.

The idea that every thread gets crapped on has been disproven on many occasions, just as it's been proven that some here only post to crap on a thread. Sadly, it's doubtful that either point will ever truly get recognized.

I think many of us here do tend to drop into humorous sarcasm from time to time -- about BOTH sides of the Styx coin. Sadly, some of it can degenerate quickly, which is too bad.
I think the love and puppies and rainbow threads tend to get boring, so sometimes when someone drops in a little give and take that has a little snark in it, a lot of us tend to jump in and add to it. And sometimes those types of posts go to extremes, but we usually all just move on when that happens.

On a more serious front that doesn't deal with the band directly stealing ideas from their meal-ticket, as I look at this half of the songs are non-Styx songs... either covers, christmas or other new songs nobody's ever heard.

10 of the 21 songs ( and 5 of these songs in a row ) are songs that are either Cover Songs, or new songs nobody will know or recognize. One of these songs is a regionally successful song not originally done by the band - could be considered another cover.

This effort should be priased for being "not another live album full of rehashes" but unfortunately I don't see it doing real well due to the lack of recognizable hits.

Just for the record Ash,

Return to Paradise also aired on PBS. - Yes Dennis was with the band then, but getting exposure on PBS is something they have all done for a while.

I understand. But they've been so critical of everything Dennis ever did. And PBS is hardly the "rock band thing to do" in many ways. I'm just seeing it as a hippocritical move. They've made jokes about most of the things Dennis has done from his song writing to the symphonic shows. And now they're following in his footsteps in a whole lot more ways.

I'm just really, really tired of Dennis' former band being so critical and negative about Dennis - and then doing EXACTLY the same things he's doing and turning around and making it out to be some huge milestone. It's just very intellectually bankrupt.

I wouldnt of believed it if I had not just read it for myself.

I found the 45 where Tommy's 4th wife sang the second verse of Blue Collar Man. I no longer own a turntable, so I drove to San Antonio to purchase one. I found a belt driven turntable with a diamond needle.

Anyway, on the single jacket it credited Tommy's 5th wife for singing on this version. It had a little Bio about her with a small picture( she had braces). I thought it was Tommy's fourth wife (my bad). I had no clue but it said that in 1977 & 1978 she was singing on the Mickey Mouse Club. She did have an extensive music background. Back then she really did sound like Leo sayer.

Anyhow, this version must of come out just as Dennis was booted from the band. It said( on the 45 jacket) that 'Britney' may join the band replacing former Styx lead singer Dennis DeYoung. Is that wild or what???????

No one can really get on Dennis now for trying to add Suzzane to the Styx mix, since Tommy was planning to add Britney, ( 5th wife) to the Styx mix way back in 1979.

Finally, Ash, How in the World can you say Tommy stopped writing good songs in 1980. Cold War was pure brilliance as were This Is Not A Test and What If.

And To Monker, What you have below your name sounds like a DDY lyric. I hope he doesnt read this and steal that line from you like he stole Come Sail Away, Lorelei etc. That line somehow should of been included or added as third verse of Dont Wait For Hereos!! Better yet when Dennis changes up his set list for his next tour Suzzanne could come out and read:

" Success isnt final, failure isnt fatal, its courage to continue that counts".

Dennis then could break into 'Ive Got My Dreams'

Way To Go Monker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope he doesnt read this a steal that line from you like he stole Come Sail Away, Lorelei etc. That line somehow should of been included in the third verse of Dont Wait For Hereos!!

LMAO- Was she even BORN in '79? ;)

I think he damn near went to jail for this wife, plus wife # 9, and his current spouse.

Then again Britney I believe is from Louisiana. I think legal age of consent in that state is 8, It's seven if you bring a note from home. Tommy's from Alabama I know the age of consent in that state is 11.

Tommy has had 11 or 13 wives depending on how you count. He was married to wife #3 twice. Actually the second time he was married to wife # 3 he was also married to wife # 10. At first he claimed ignorance, later on in court he screamed mormon.

Even though Tommy was in Damn Yankees at the time, JY sided with Tommy and the song Homewrecker was inspired by this marriage(s). He was also married to wife # 6 twice.

As for Dennis, his was an arranged marriage. He and Suzzanne were thrown together by the mob( Italian decent) at approximately the ages of 5 & 6 respetively. They pretty much were not allowed to see any other children( both home schooled). The first kids that Dennis had contact with in over 8 years were Chuck & John Panozzo. Dennis happened to walk by their garage( he heard music) on the way back from getting Suzzanne one of the first at home pregnancy tests ever sold. Most of this was covered on the Styx Behind The Music episode.

As for JY, he has always been married to his work!!!!

Why didn't he marry Linda Blair or did he? :D

Shows you there Tommy and Jy have major problems. Sounds like Dennis has had a good life with a good wife.

He never married her because she wouldnt allow him to have a dog in the house, or goats in the yard.

I believe Sterling will cover most of this in his upcomming book.
