heck, I've yet to see any of these bands live so I'm pretty excited about it, and hope that they hit somewhere near me.

Same here.. Styx always puts on a great show, Its been 9 years since I've seen REO (man time flies!) and whether its 38 or Night Ranger, I've always wanted to see them.

Too bad this tour more then likely won't hit Canada.

I would guess that an announcement will come this month. It depends on when the tour actually starts.

And thousands of fans are on pins and needles waiting for that one.....

ya despite some criticism, this tour will probably do very well and not disappoint the people who are going to see it, me included :) .

Should be a good tour. Worth the price of admission.

A couple questions to bide the time till announcements

1.What songs do you want each band to play?
2.Who do you predict will "steal the show"?

As for me:
1. I'd like Styx to play Waiting for our Time [almost a gauruntee, but I've seen it not done in some recent reviews describing their setlist], Fooling Yourself, and Snowblind [now that's asking for a lot  ]. I'd accept any setlist from REO as long as it included In My Dreams, [though Take It on the Run and Time for me to Fly would be welcome as well]. And right now I know almost none of either .38 Special's or Night Ranger's work so I can't really go into details on that.

2.I've heard Styx and REO both can blow away the crowd live, so it could be a toss up between them. Once again I don't know anything about the other band's live shows, so I can't comment on them right now.

edit: Just listened to .38 Special's hold on loosely and realized I grew up loving it so I can add that to my "Dream Setlist"

I wouldn't count on WFOT. It is not a song that many concert goers will have heard of and they jsut can't waste 5 minutes playing a song off an album that no one bought and a song that no ones knows given everyhing else they need to play. But you will probably get FY and SB. I doubt you get REO's In My Dreams either unfortunately.

Snowblind, really?

I know a set list described in a review doesn't dictate every other show they did on tour, but I've never seen Snowblind come up recently. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong reviews! Here's hoping though because I'd like more from JY's side of things other than Miss America and Lorelei.

That would be a shame if they dropped In My Dreams, but I realize that while it's my favorite there are SO many other songs they could play that would get more approval. oh well.

here is what I would like to see from Styx to help shake things up a bit and keep it fresh; this is in no particular order....

1) great white hope
2) borrowed time
3) shooz
4) lights
5) rocking the paradise
6) 22 years (with tommy replacing DDY's vocal part).

shooz and 22 years woudl be for the die hard lifelong fans but they are great great songs that I think the crowd would dig alot. you could then take away miss america and replace it with great white hope. loreli could be replaced by borrowed time with tommy and jy trading off on vocals....i think they could easily work these songs into their set and it would still satisfy casual fans cause you still have time for the standard hits and you keep the real fans happy cause you changed up your setlist.

STYX hasn't played Waiting for Our Time since 2003. They played it on the first leg of their tour supporting Cyclorama and then dropped it.

Snow Blind seems to be in the set about 50% of the time.

I agree with masque but with a couple changes

1) great white hope
2) borrowed time
3) Young Man
4) lights
5) rocking the paradise
6) Man of Miracles

I may be alone with those choices but after listening to the old wooden Nickel Records those two stand out to me as songs that would be awesome to hear live. It's true that by dropping Shooz, they'd be dropping a song that both JY and Tommy collaberated on, but then again this is just my wish list, as improbable as it may be.

3, 5, 6 aren't happening. I've been an advocate of doing WN material going back to the old EVening With ... shows in 1999/2000. They had a real chance to do something and blundered it. The only WN stuff done besides Lady since about 1976 was when Dennis did "Best Thing" at the Lost Treasures show a few years back.

BT and Lights have been done by this lineup in abbreviated form, but they ain't rockers ;)

RTP - heavens no! Gowan sounds horrible on it. There's a reason they don't play it anymore ...

I might actually break down and see this show, if it comes near us. More to see 38 Special then the other two. I have not seen them in a few years.

I agree with Allan.. RTP is a song that really hasn't held the test of time for either Dennis or Styx..

Gowan blows on it.. Yes.. I said it! But after hearing Dennis do it live in his solo shows etc, it's missing something as well (that had the female backup singers really really ruin it)

I would rather hear Queen Of Spades instead live. Gowan nailed it on the boots I have in the 99 shows, and Dennis still gives me chills when I listen to it on POE and the 97 boots that I have as well..

Hear that Dennis? Drop Rockin and bring in Queen of Spades!

The only thing Gowan has nailed is the coffin door closed on the band Styx he has totally ruined the legacy of the band

yes, saying only those 4 people liking Gowan IS rediculous! You can't blame Gowan for ruining anything. If you want to blame anyone, blame Tommy and Jy for hiring him. I know you'd have no problem doing that.

I think the only thing that Gowan could do that could p.o. froy more than taking DDY's place in Styx, is if Dennis had Gowan play the keyboards for him in his shows.

Since we are posting hopeful set lists...

1. Great White Hope
2. Pieces of Eight
3. Rockin' the Paradise
4. Man in the Wilderness
5. Rock & Roll Feeling
6. Suite Madame Blue
7. Mr. Roboto

Yeah, if #7 ever happened, just make certain hell isn't frozen.
Studies show that 100% of the people you dislike are Chicago Bear fans.

I assume that the new song that Tommy/Kevin wrote will be performed at the concert, the big question being: who's going to sing it?

Is this going to be the comeback of the jam band sessions???

Apparently REO Speedwagon revealed a month or so ago that they will be touring this summer (I think May-July-ish) with Styx & .38 Special.

Granted this information was confirmed by a family member of bassist Bruce Hall, who frequently posts on the message board on his site. Therefore, I consider it to be very accurate.

I wonder if those rumored Styx/REO/Night Ranger dates are for another point in the summer?

I like Styx an all but they need to take a summer off and regroup. Tommy needs to go out and do a solo tour and play minimal Styx songs.

Sadly, I think I may have to go AND buy one of the stupid I Love All Access packages. Both come with the single for "Can't Stop Rockin'" (I'm assuming physical media ...), and it's probably promo. Haven't seen it anywhere promo yet. So I'm considering paying to go, get the goodies with the CD, and then leave.

What happened to the " fan friendly" prices on the tickets for the Boca Raton show.... $ 55 & $75. That seems to be a bit steep for the show that the bands say are for the fans. Was going to attend but not at those prices. All other shows seem to be less expensive. maybe because it is a brand new venue? I thought the venue was all GA with no seating.

Speaking of prices, I found out that the 5 star packaging was 225.00

With all the perks it doesn't seem like that bad of price, but it's really not something I can afford. Sucks, cause it would have been pretty cool.

Edit: Me and my friends are planning on going to the show at the Borgata in Atlantic City. I was just wondering, because I heard that Styx concerts at casinos are notoriously short, whether or not I should opt for going to a different date that might have longer sets?
