for me I enjoy tommy's solo work the best. i really enjoyed the girls with guns album and still listen to it on a semi regular basis. 7 deadly zens is probably my favorite of his. there are a few songs on what if that i despise but there are three or four that i love so it's a mixed bag for me.....i have grown to like ambition much better in the last few years.

damn yankees is not a solo tommy effort but i freaking love damn yankees and anything he does with jack blades.....shaw/blades is incredible.

dennis's solo stuff has always been a mixed bag for me....several great songs mixed in with stuff i would have been embarassed myself to write.

even though i am a huge JY fan the only thing he did i really like is raised by wolves thing which was helped tremenosly by his band. out on a day pass may be one of the worst things I have ever heard any member of styx ever do.....sorry JY.

overall, i think you could take the best of all of the solo albums and have a couple of real good styx albums. but that's usually the case with most bands that had mulitple writers sharing songs on a cd and then all of a sudden their writing is carrying their whole solo cd.

What were Chuck and John doing during the solo period? Were either of them on any of the solo albums?

TS - hands down.

Dennis was just trying too hard to be Barry Manilow. He had some great individual tracks, but as a whole, gotta go with Shaw.
Young's were terrible.... The JY Group was pretty cool though.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

I think John played on Out In A Day Pass.. To my knowledge Chuck was never on any of the solo cds.

JY appeared on Tommy's Ambition CD as well.
