What ever it is I am sure it's going to fail. They are done as far as creating anything new. They would rather have a kiss ass like Gowan in the band
instead of having the leader and real talent Dennis back to try and get it rolling again. Im done with these copy cat bands like STYX JRNY Supertramp Foreigner Boston and REO who are all warshed up and are just collecting pay checks , Sorry fellas Im not buying any of it. Im just glad I saw so many of the real shows a back in the day.

Froy, i really don't think Gowan is a kiss ass kind of guy.He made it on his own before Styx and he will do it again Fri & Sat.Ass wipe   Still love him with Styx.

I have a feeling Styx has 2-3 new songs available along with the one just released, they will record 6-7 tired classics just so they can release something, kinda like the past live album that never needed to be recorded.

Froy,

Gotta disagree with you on Journey and Foreigner. Both are still awesome live and each released a GREAT all new album.

The new edition of Foreigner is especially good. Scratch that. Great!

I second this. I love Journey with Arnel. Not as much as with Perry, but it's close enough for me. I understand why Journey recorded the old stuff.
If Styx is doing that same thing, I guess it makes sense, but I just get the feeling it's going to be the same old songs that've been drilled into the ground...
It just sucks the way the music business is these days.

I don't think Gowan's a kiss ass. I think he's a major talented guy. There's room for Styx with him and DeYoung without them.
Still, I want NEW music from this band and it took forever for that to happen with BNW and Cyclo. Now it looks like the fans have to keep waiting.
Hopefully not.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

So far my face is clean as a whistle
STYX proves time and time again just how dumb they really are,
Tommy Shaw is really a ignorant little whimpy cry baby. It's funny in 91 I fought to get him back in the band I said No to Glen boy was I wrong Glen kicks his ass.
Now to hell with him. He's just not a smart guy at all.

Actually, erasing Dennis' voice or history may shockingly not be the motive. It's arguably money. Why? ONe of the reasons Ki$$ re-recorded their hits was so they can license them for things like commercials and not have to worry about who owns the masters: they can license that out (paying the appropriate fees to the songwriters of course) and reap all the reward themselves. If you haven't noticed, commercials can be lucrative. They learned that with the VW one.

If it is re-recorded hits, I don't see them doing a lot of DDY tunes - at least nothing you don't hear live now.

Now, is there a little FU to DDY in all of this? Maybe, maybe not. I'm not going to read too much into it just yet.

Maybe it's new "reinterpretations", although I'm with everyone else - another version of f'in BCM? Next thing you know we're going to get BCM - The Hip Hop Trance Remix. (Someone has probably already done it ...)

2FACE? Screw you dude.
If the band HAS to do it to stay in business, and if it's the only way they can put out new product, then I understand it. Doesn't mean I like it. Doesn't mean the re-records are something I will want and unless there is at least an album of new music coupled with them, I won't buy it.
I DO want new music from the band. PERIOD. Until I get it, I won't be seeing them live. I've got enough live versions of their songs.
Had the band not already done this over and over with constant live albums, it wouldn't bug me so much. But the fact is, as peeps here said, "Blue Collar Man has been re-recorded to death- why get yet another version?".

Froy, you've got some serious over zealousness regarding your hatred for Styx. It's a bit weird to say the least, not to mention unhealthy. I'm not sure why you and others on this board go into "act like an 11 year old mode". What is behind your hatred of Gowan? Kind of psycho....
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Well Baby Im here to speak and speak loud and clear. Im here to let Keith Marks Tommy Shaw Jim Young Chuck Panozzo and Charlie Brusco know that you think you can just walk between the rain drops because you have a name of STYX behind you but that fact is not many and even ones before who bought your lame act are not buying it anymore, Even Brywool they biggest supporter is telling you he's is done your game is over , Chicago Styx is no longer preaching here. The Legacy of STYX is about to be ruined forever when Gowan gets a mic in his face and rerecords a classic styx song, Thesee songs will never get played on the radio ever .

I will tell you this and listen up I will play them on my radio show and we can see what the fans have to say about it,
In fact I will play Just Be and Can's Stop Quacking we will go over the fine lyrics to I Can't make a Difference well your right Shaw you stole STYX and ya can't make a difference your band has gone nowhere, shock roll

My dislike of the re-records has NOTHING to do with Gowan. It has everything to do with "I already own many versions of these tracks, including ones with Gowan. I'm set, no thanks".

Froy, I suggest you listen to this brilliant song and heed it's message.

NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Umm that was chickenbeef that said that......did you forget was persona you were? What a loser. Go sell crazy somewhere else.

Exactly. They might not share the same IP, but I still think something's up with both of these accounts. The way each of the posts are written, the content and the times each post was written including the ones TNB posts upstairs above the Journey board.

Re-records of classic songs have nothing to do with the fans. Period. It is pure business for the band.

I will never, ever, sit and listen to my favorite songs redone with new lead vocals. Why? Music has such direct ties to the memories of the listener, why would anyone ruin that with a redo? It makes no sense from the fan's perspective, unless someone actually likes the new lead singer more than the original I guess. When Journey did it, I listened to a few seconds of a few of the songs and then file 13ed the re-records.

I have supported Styx in its current form (seven or eight concerts and have bought all their new CDs). I have also enjoyed DDY when he came to town. Thought his new CD was good and would see him again if he would come back around these parts.

I can't say I enjoyed Styx's Big Bang Theory, barely made it through it once. Covers are boring...at least an entire album of them. One on an album accompanying new songs is fine, an entire album is pure laziness, greed and a non-event for fans.

Now, remakes of their own songs...rediculous. Gowan has done an admiral job filling in live and kicked ass on Cyclorama (I loved the CD and find it much underrated). I have no desire to hear him on the classics on a studio recorded cd. Gowan seems like a great guy who is obviously very talented. But when I hear him sing some of the Styx songs, I can't help thinking he should be wearing a green outfit with matching hat singing limericks while dancing around a pot of gold.
