Styx TRULY wants to rock and ice skating and hard rock music have always gone together. Dennis always held them back in this regard. Styx is a ROCK band and now without Dennis they have found their venue( ice skating) to release their angst.
Who knows, but if the funds are there maybe they can purchase some commericial time and sell a little jewelry while they are at it.
What a COMPLETE and TRULY UTTER FARCE!!!!!!
P.S. If possible look for Styx to try to ink a contract for doing the background music for one or all of those Bravo Housewives shows.
Do you feel the same way about all the other artists who have agreed to do this show?
Just wondering.
I have to be honest, I don't see this as a great piece of exposure. I'm a big believer in the notion that the exposure should suit the act, and not just be exposure for exposure's sake. I always go back to that God-awful version of "Roundabout" with Bill Bruford and Steve Howe on 'Regis and Kathie Lee.'
Chicago, I could see. Manilow, certainly. Christopher Cross, perhaps. Air Supply. But Styx - especially THIS lineup of Styx? Foreigner? Not so much.
Mind you, I also hate it when rock bands' music is re-arranged for marching bands. I had to suffer the indignity of marching to the music of Yes in high school myself, and it was excruciating to take part in the desecration of the music of a band I loved. The venue needs to fit the music and branding.
But for all that, I really don't care on any level. I won't watch it, I just find it somewhat chuckle-worthy and move on. It is, after all, their band and their choice.
