As if DDY was the only "big ego" in the band. Either you are biased or deaf and blind. They all had big egos except for maybe Chuck and John. This is one of the reasons that Styx was doomed to fail at some point. As the success of the band grew so did all of their egos. Dennis in an interview even commented on it. He said something to the effect that as a group gains more and more success each member tends to feel they had more to do with the groups success then others in the group.

Oh, thank you for bumping this up...I forgot to respond to it.

The other "egos" in the band did not go about saying they invented the Styx sound, was responsible for all their hits, sued the band, continually pushed his direction over everybody else, and generally takes credit for steering the ship.

My point is that it was probably a lot easier to fire Dennis and not wait for his mysterious vampirish allergy to stage lighting to heal itself...with no way to define an end to that. At least Rick wasn't whining about his condition and did whatever he could to stay in the band making it a MUCH easier decision to wait to see what happened and if he would play again.

No they just were constantly threatening to quit and sicking their attorneys on other members of the band. As well as thinking they had more to do with the success of the band while they couldn't even bring a complete song idea to the table then turn around an criticize the contributions and ideas of others. Basically you had a group of people that had egos that were manifested in different ways which at some point was doomed to fail.
