Looks like it's an "RSD First" which means plenty of copies and should be available to purchase online on Record Store Day from retailers. No need to lineup at a local shop if you can't make it.

A couple of web stores out there already have it listed it seems ;)

Yes, I noticed that too. I have one website bookmarked. I'm gonna contact the guy who used to run the record store here and ask if he is getting anything. Sometimes he still sells records at a coffee shop but it's sporadic and records are not always there.

When he did have a store I went on RSD one day before they were open at like 9am. He forgot to lock the door and when I went in he said "we're closed but since you're here have at it". So I picked up a couple of Hendrix RSD releases.

Lucky you! I have to go online at 1PM next Saturday and hope I can snag the one copy my local store received because we're not allowed indoor shopping yet. :(

Just an FYI - as an RSD release you shouldn't have been able to pre-order or reserve a copy.. so just be careful advertising that online... RSD has been known to punish stores by sending them much less inventory the next time for doing stuff like this (if they find out / people complain). There's been a few over the year who even got themselves blacklisted cause they let people have their reserved copies before the day of the event :P

I was able to reserve it on eBay although it clearly stated that it will not ship until Saturday morning. I ended up paying about $15 more but with the distance I would have had to travel (gas, tolls, and my time) I felt it was worth it.

Ah... yeah. Those are generally flippers (individuals who go out to stores and gobble up copies purely to resell). I don't necessarily agree with the practice (for example, I looked on ebay and there's 2 Stardust LPs that are trying to be sold for nearly $100 CAD... that's ludicrous and disgustingly opportunistic) but if you got a copy locked in for a fair price, that's OK :)

Hopefully it will be released later on as well. If it is black vinyl that's OK but that blue is cool. I'll take it any way I can get it even if it happens to be a download later from iTunes.

The copies I have seen on eBay are $75. No thanks. Maybe I can find it for 30 or less but I won't pay more than that.

You can make an offer which is what I did. I would not pay $70. Some stores will also be selling them online later in the day on Saturday.

CS, there's a several record stores close to my area, I usually go every year. I have a serious question, why isn't the quantity listed for their album for RSD? I checked out the other artists and everyone has their quantity of albums listed except for 6 artists including current Styx. Do you know how many each store is receiving?

Not sure Suite. I watched a couple unboxing YouTube videos and it seems like 2 copies per store is the norm. I heard a couple stores only received 1 copy. I’m guessing they made about 3000 to 4000 but not listing the quantity leave the door open for more if there is a need. Are you planning to get one? Just thought I’d ask.........

I just thought it was odd there wasn't a quantity listed, with a few others. My kids want to get a Deftones and Linkin Park LP, so I might go with them, but I know it won't be early. I called one of the record stores to see how many they were getting in, they're receiving 3 Styx and 12 Deftones. I'm assuming that's how many the other stores might be receiving.

Seriously, if this isn't some of the most pedantic shite I've ever read on this board. You sir, need to get back on your meds before a time-out is issued.

You are calling me out in a thread I don't much care about, and haven't posted to in two months and quoted a post that is two months old - and giving me direction to act differently because of it. Explain this - because this is a VERY old post as things go. AND, it is well before your last warning post. I did not time travel back in time to make posts to this thread.

Obviously, you have not been keeping up on this forum. Suite has been ragging on anybody she feels is against Dennis...she is essentially trolling the forum with that attitude. You are asking me to just take it without a reaction, even though she is the one essentially inviting me to reply.

If I am going to be called out for posts in this thread, she needs to have the same warning for her relentless Sean "Monker" Morrison bullshit and the like. It takes two to tango, and she has been repeatedly asking me to dance. She deserves the same warning as me.

I was able find out there will be 2500 copies available. I found this info on a record store website.

I'll just wait and see. As I stated, there are no stores in my area (there is one about an hour's drive away). No one I know (family out of state) is going this year. I have a few stores bookmarked and will check them June 12 to see when they have them posted. if I don't manage to get it that's OK because I assume it will eventually come out again later on black vinyl. 2,500 sounds like a decent run for blue so we will see.

It’s also possible that the 2 new songs will be part of an expanded release of COTC in the future.

Honestly 2,500 is not a huge amount for RSD (especially when you consider flippers, who gobble up low run releases). That would explain why my local store got 1 copy though... not sure if the other one is getting it in.

I went on the RSD web list and PDF but didn't see the 2,500 number but it IS an 'RSD First' which means they can press as many more copies as they want or re-release it later on in the future.

Hah, lucky you. Someone is breaking Record Store Day rules :P

Thankfully my local store updated their list and it looks like they will have more than one copy :D

I have to compete with others ordering form the store online (at 1pm as per RSD rules) because we're still shut down due to COVID and our slow re-opening plan starting Friday only allows them to have 2 people in store at a time... doesn't work when 60+ people are going to show up for RSD :P

Ricky’s comments on The Same Stardust:

It wasn’t an over-thought marketing scheme or anything. We had music that was intended to all go together and the flow was better with this group of songs and these songs are a little bit different. It’s that simple. And I think that they’re less proggy. They’re just as good, they just didn’t fit in. It’s not that they weren’t good enough, but the body of the songs were prog-rooted, even if they were halftime songs or there’s a lot of open-air and not a lot of emphasis on crazy progressive time signatures or anything. They still had a prog notion to them, so they cut a couple of the songs that I really liked that were totally non-prog and they were included on that.

Yep, in Ontario. Slowly but surely re-opening. Stores and restaurant patios re-open with certain capacity limits this Friday :D

Hey Styxguy, what did that run you in Canadian? I was looking at the COTC clear vinyl on the Styx website and with shipping but pre duty it was $62 Canadian. Probably add another 3-4 bucks for duty.

Amazon.ca has I think the Black Vinyl for 40 bucks or so.

I'm still hoping I can find it in Edmonton, but they haven't gotten back to me.

I believe all of it is sold out on Styxworld. It still looks like it is there but when you add to cart it is gone. They have it on the Universal store but it is more expensive there than on the Styx website https://store.udiscovermusic.com/*/*/Crash-Of-The-Crown-Exclusive-Clear-Vinyl-LP/6Z0M0000000

And I read they have a discount code but I can't remember what it is. They said it was listed on the Udiscover page somewhere.

Same Stardust doesn't arrive until Saturday officially. I *should* be able to get it from a local store. I'm betting it's going to be $30 and would be happy if it was only like $25.

As for COTC on clear vinyl, it's exclusive to Styxworld and the label (Universal) MusicVaultz.ca (Universal Music Canada) has it for $47 CAD + tax (free shipping if your order is over $100).

Earlier this year one of my local shops posted about Universal jacking up all of their vinyl prices, so records were going to be more costly this year... I assume the black COTC will possibly be $35 form them but I'm hoping it comes in at $30. Won't know until next Friday/Saturday unless they post it for pre-order

The Same Stardust is $17.99 in the US. Not sure what the markup would be for Canada.
