for some reason, I am unable to edit the last post, so here are the members missing from the last one......

Tommy - I think Captain Kirk fits him.....not the 1st Captain of the Enterprise, but the ship was better off once he came on board......Tommy and ol' James T both were favorites with the young ladies !

JY - Richard Hatch....they're both "the original Survivor"

Ricky - That little kid who joined the Brady Bunch during the last season when Cindy and Bobby were no longer cute....you remember him, he looked sort of like John Denver's Mini-me......Ricky joined after the best years of Styx were in the rear-view mirror too......

So those are my picks for TV characters reminiscent of the Dysfunctional Styx family....If you can do better, be my guest !

Well I can only explain it this way in terms of family. The band formed together fairly young. They weren't professionals, unlike paid athletes who have not worked together from the beginning. Over time the band's differences got in the way...hence a "divorce". And guess what, sometimes divorced couples don't get back together, they don't mend the "family". It has nothing to do with the fans. It has everything to do with how they feel about each other. And that is very much in line with the family metaphor.

Oh and Yogi, there is nothing "plain" about you!

Thank you Sadie

I give up explaining anything to Yoga!!

Classic:

Ricky - That little kid who joined the Brady Bunch during the last season when Cindy and Bobby were no longer cute....you remember him, he looked sort of like John Denver's Mini-me......Ricky joined after the best years of Styx were in the rear-view mirror too......

OMG - that is SO funny and too perfect!! That little kid's name was cousin Oliver. He was played by Robbie Rist and is into music now too :)

GOWAN and BURTNIK......can't remember their names, but the male cousins on THE DUKES OF HAZZARD, the ones who replaced BO and LUKE for a season come immediately to mind. True fans of the show accepted them, but it was never quite the same with them as the Stars of the show...

Ah yes, the Dukes of Hazzard. The cousins names were Coy and Vance Duke.

JY - Richard Hatch, that's kind of creepy - LOL

Madame, Congratulations....you are truly a master of 70's / 80's pop culture !

I was considering Lurch of the Addams family for JY, strictly because of the height thing.....I'm hoping some others here will outdo me and come up with some even better suggestions !

You are forgetting Chuck- Richard Simmons or Jack Laland, I have no clue how to spell his name( The fitness guy). As for the Man Hands, 'Like Family','TOO UNCOMFORTABLE metaphor I agree with Sadie 100% The members of Styx maybe were like family to each other at one time. We are the FANS, so IF THEY(Dennis, Tommy, JY, Chuck, Todd, and ALLL the new editions) could patch things up and get back on a stage together, as a FAN you would be TOO UNCOMFORTABLE watching them perform? Thats LAUGHABLE. It really is!!!
