Just reading the lyrics of this song brings tears to my eyes. I have to change the radio when it comes on.

Holes in the floor of heaven

One day SHY OF eight years old
Grandma passed away
I was a broken hearted little boy,
blowing out that birthday cake

How I cried when the sky let go
with a cold and lonesome rain
Momma smiled said don't be sad child
Grandma's watchin you today

'Cause there's holes in the floor of Heaven
and her tears are pourin' down
that's how you know she's watchin'
wishin' she could be here now
And sometimes if you're lonely
just remember she can see
there's holes in the floor of Heaven
and she's watchin' over you and me

Seasons come and seasons go
nothin' stays the same
I grew up fell in love
met a girl who took my name

Year by year we made a life
in this sleepy little town
I thought we'd grow old together
Lord I sure do miss her now

But there's holes in the floor of Heaven
and her tears are pourin' down
that's how you know she's watchin'
wishin' she could be here now
and sometimes when I'm lonely
I remember she can see
there's holes in the floor of Heaven
and she's watchin' over you and me

Well my little girl is 23
I walk her down the aisle
it's a shame her mom can't be here now
to see her lovely smile

They throw the rice
I catch her eye
as the rain starts comin' down
she takes my hand says daddy don't be sad 'cause
I know momma's watchin' now

And there's holes in the floor of Heaven
and her tears are pourin down
that's how you know she's watchin'
wishin' she could be here now
and sometimes when I'm lonely
I remember she can see
there's holes in the floor of Heaven
and she's watchin' over you and me

Watchin' over you and me
Watchin' over you and me
Watchin' over you and me

Bugsy: Thanks for the kind words, or should I say domo arigato :D

Leesa: It's on a compilation album called VH1 Classic Metal Mania: Stripped. The entire CD is made up of acoustic tracks by hair metal bands. Some were recorded especially for the CD (including the Mike Tramp track), but many of them were in existence already. It's really a great CD, if you got into the 80's hair bands at all. Here's the track listing, to give you an idea:

1. Every Rose Has Its Thorn - Poison
2. Sister Christian - Night Ranger (new recording)
3. Wind Of Change - Scorpions
4. Don't Know What You've Got - Cinderella (new recording by Tom Keifer)
5. Silent Lucidity - Queensryche
6. More Than Words - Extreme (a cappella)
7. I Saw Red - Warrant
8. The Way It Is - Tesla
9. Miles Away - Winger (performed by Kip Winger)
10. Ballad of Jayne - LA Guns (new recording)
11. When The Children Cry - White Lion (new recording by Mike Tramp)
12. When I Look Into Your Eyes - Firehouse
13. Fly To The Angels - Slaughter
14. More Than Words Can Say - Alias (new recording by Freddy Curci)
15. Save Your Love - Great White (new recording)

This is my sad song, especially after a few beers! You all should know who it's by!

Looking down I watch the night
Running from the sun
Orphan stars and city lights
Fading one by one
Oh sweet memories
I call on you now
Two too many hearts been broke
Along this lonely road
Steel grey eyes can shine the lies
Until they look like gold
Cold city sidewalks can turn your heart to stone
The street won't defeat me
Cause I've got the will I'll survive
I don't mind runnin' alone
I believe that every soul
Has a song to sing
The spirit's locked in every man
Waiting for a wing
Oh so much is wasted
And oh so little used
The trick of the dreamer
Is keeping yourself from the blues
And I don't mind runnin'
Everyone's a hero
If you want to be
Everyone's a prisoner
Holding their own key
Every step I take
Every move I make
Always one step closer
I don't mind runnin' alone
Laughing children echo down
The concrete alleyways
Oh their voices
Calling, calling, calling yesterday
Oh sweet memories
Returning to me now
When young eyes saw clearly
Everyone's a hero
It you want to be
Everyone's a prisoner
Holding their own key
Every step I take
Every move I make
Always one step closer
I don't mind runnin' alone

It kinda makes you want another beer.....but it's one h*ll of track!
