Yea 500 a year

and this is bad because Dennis doesn't like doing more than 30 or 40 shows a year?

So what ?
30 to 40 shows a year is fine for a man his age

Look at most bands they tour just about the same amount of dates

Only cash poor Styx needs to run around for 10 years and burn it out

Yawn, are you still here?

There is nothing wrong with 30 or 40 shows, it just limits where you can be seen performing. How many times a year do you get to see DDY? Being in NYC I am lucky if it's every other year. With Styx, I can see them every year as they do plenty of shows. Let's face it these guys aren't getting any younger, so I guess you will be happy when they are all retired. Many of us, on the other hand enjoy seeing the shows. But, what am I thinking it is all about you and froy and rajah......the bin Laden's of the styx world.

I'm sorry and I am new here, but I think equating chow and froy and rajah (or anyone who hasn't killed thousands of people) with Osama Bin Laden is downright disgusting.
Sorry you feel that way, I just meant it as an analogy. But of course you would be on your high horse no matter the anaology.
Okay forgive me here, but how do you get that someone new (at least to this forum) is on their high horse because they didn't like an analogy you used? Or were you lumping this person in with a known idiot?

Then I'm confused because I just don't think Toph's response warranted your response. To each his own. And I agree...the analogy was a poor one...even considering who was referenced.

Why thanks for the nonresponse. I understood the analogy, I didn't understand your inability to recognize that your attempt at sarcastic humor might have been in poor taste.

Yeah, perhaps I should get a sense of humor. Ordinarily I would, but ya know...responding to trolls...well sometimes there just isn't any humor left.

I'll apologize to the forum. I've spent the last 2 days helping my community with the major floods that hit part of the Midwest. It has been hard watching people try to salvage what little they can. I do not mean to sound as though the problems we have here are any more dire than everyone else, for they are not. I apologize for taking my fatigue out on the forum.

Going to try and put some things back into perspective now...

So, I'm confused - is Toph really Froy? I thought I was Froy. Oh wait - I'm Rajah! Actually were all the same person right? Aren't we Carrie Ann Deyoung too? Maybe we're all the people that attend DDY shows. I'm so confused. The only thing NOT confusing here is that elmotano has some anger management issues!

I guess it is me who needs to apologize to the forum. I have lurked here and there and not posted much. Obviously it appears there is some deep seeded resentment on here for some folks, but I was the one who originally called out the fact that Elmo's post equating people on this board to Osama Bin Laden was in poor taste to say the least, and completely perverse to say the worse. Osama Bin Laden was responsible for the deaths of over 3,000 Americans - fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters...people with families and who were doing nothing but starting another day of work...they would never see those loved ones again.

So, to compare anyone to that brutal terrorist, no matter what they say on a fan bulletin board, is completely uncalled for. So, if my stating my belief that it I felt it was a post that should have not been posted somehow violated the rules of this board, then please accept my apology.

froy is, and only ever has been, himself. Fairly sure you're not a sock either (though, admittedly, the idea of a real person being that big of an Asia fan does stretch my credulity a bit.) Toph is definitely ...uh... from Titusville.

The rest is pretty much up for grabs. ;)

I like Lawrence for Lawrence. He will never be DDY. He is better and worse than Dennis. Any logic on either point is fruitless. Styx tours with LG. DDY tours on his own. You can like both, one or the other, or neither. Not one opinion has changed by typing on a message board. If anyone wants to discuss the musical merits of one Lawrence Gowan, we'll hold an audition and see how you measure up. If you can't perform as well as he, then shut up.

Sorry, but please explain to me what the comment means about me being from Titusville is supposed to imply? Do only people from Titusville feel that it is inappropriate to equate others to Osama Bin Laden?

Sorry, but please explain to me why you think it's supposed to imply such a thing.

And hey, as far as I can tell, only people from Titusville are from Titusville. Right? :)

As for the remark, maybe it was in slightly bad taste, but it was just an offhand remark. I think the horse is dead already. We got the point.

froy is, and only ever has been, himself. Fairly sure you're not a sock either (though, admittedly, the idea of a real person being that big of an Asia fan does stretch my credulity a bit.) Toph is definitely ...uh... from Titusville.

It implies something negative about Titusville, of which I am very proud of. For those of you who don't know Titusville, it is a city of 50,000 on the east coast of North Central Florida south of Daytona Beach. It is a picturesque city located on the Indian River. The Indian River divides the mainland from the beach. Directly across the river from Titusville is the Kennedy Space Center - in fact I have watched many a shuttle launches from a dock on the Indian River. I unfortunately was there when the Space Shuttle Challenger blew up.

Titusville features the Space Center, the Canaveral National Seashore, which is miles and miles of pristine, unmarked beach - no condos, no hotels, no restaurants, and of course the Astronaut Hall of Fame. I have lived there all my life and think it is a fine place to live.

As for my complete disgust at the OBL remark, I think it is important to know that some people knew people that died on 9/11.... Some people regard it more than just an offhand remark - believe it or not, a tad bigger than Dennis DeYoung vs. Tommy Shaw...but I'll shut up about it now (although I am still waiting for Elmo's apology to friends and family of the victims of 9/11.)

I can't speak for stabbim, but I honestly can't think of any reason on earth someone could make the Titusville=idiot connection. While I appreciate the historical lesson, I really don't think anyone here was disparaging Titusville in any way.

First of all, "Elmo" lives in Manhatten. I honestly, seriously know he didn't take 9/11 lightly. Secondly, OBL has killed a helluva lot more than a few thousand "Americans" in his time. Sorry, but this is something that *really* burns my ass - when 9/11 is all anyone thinks about when Osama Bin Laden's name is mentioned. It's some weird bizaro-ingrained mentality that Americans have that only OUR tragedies make any sort of impact or difference. No wonder the rest of the world hates our guts. In fact, 9/11 happened BECAUSE of the fact that America was turning a blind eye to what was going on over in the middle east, and they wanted to get our attention the only way they knew would work - by bringing the Hell to our territory. We would have never cared otherwise. And thirdly, why would someone have to apologize to victims of 9/11 by making the analogy that some of the trollier-types here serve no purpose than to cause trouble or create negativity so it can further their ridiculous agenda (which was, I'm fairly sure, the ONLY comparison "Elmo" was making to people like OBL, not calling them actual murderers)? Not that this should have to be explained. If he was "supposed" to apologize to anyone, it would be those whom he made the comparison to, not the victims of 9/11.

Well, I am not going to address your blantantly liberal post which speaks to more of an agenda than anything else. But I take serious exception to your excuse that 9/11 "happened BECAUSE of the fact that America was turning a blind eye to what was going on over in the middle east, and they wanted to get our attention the only way they knew would work - by bringing the Hell to our territory. We would have never cared otherwise. " Oh..so then I guess its ok, huh? Are you a member of Jeremiah Wright's church? I love these liberals who decide that we are really at fault for 9/11 because of something we did....Like 9/11 is somehow defensible. "Sorry folks you lost a loved one. I guess we should have been stroking bin Laden and his psychos a little more and then this wouldn't have happened. I guess it's our fault."

Un-freaking believable.

Yes, Toph. That makes it okay. That was *exactly* my point.

Wow this is not about Styx and Boston anymore!

I had to jump in here. I am fairly liberal politically - but I think that its real hard to say that somehow the US brought 9/11 upon itself. Sure we turned a blind eye to the middle east and our policies have only our oil interest in mind, but for the guy working at the Starbucks at the World Trade Center had nothing to do with those policies. He's the one thats dead.

And why do we as Americans put more weight on 9/11 than other OBL terrorist acts? Probably because it happened in AMERICA and many of us knew a victim.

As for comparing Dennis Deyoung fans to Osama Bin Laden, its pretty typical for this board - still scary, but typical.
