By the way, WHY ME was performed live. Saw it in Seattle in 79.

Did you get the sax guy like we did in Chicago?
I think it was 80 not 79
BTW JY is sure been quiet lately

I wish I could've seen that show!

The sax guy Steve Eisen was here last year with Jim Peterik and his World Stage show. My friend and I talked to him about recording the Cornerstone album, very nice guy.

I have pictures from that show

Lights, Why Me, Eddie, Babe , It was a great show Dennis wore a cubs uniform number 3 for the manager
Herman Franks , All that was missing was Love In The Midnight

I think I have some blury ones from that too. I seem to remember JY wearing these red pajama things.
I had some great black and whites from the Edge tour. not sure where those are.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Since Tommy, Ricky, Todd, nor LG was in the band at that time, it would be the perfect setup.

Have LG do Glen's songs, Tommy do Dennis's songs and Jy do his own. :D Or you could release Ricky's inner beast and let him do Glen's songs.

OMG no. Are you kidding me? Why do one of the worst albums they have ever done.

I have a feeling that it still won't happen, how is Superstars going to sound down a couple of octaves. No way they can hit those notes anymore, unless they use protools, which is not something Styx would ever do.

Down a couple of "octaves"? I think you mean steps. Down a couple of octaves would amount to Styx sounding like Barry White. :)
An octave is a 12 note span, so a couple would be down 24 steps. Yikes! Oh, wait, it'd sound like "Bourgeois Pig" ;)

The notes in Superstar's chorus are falsetto notes. Easily done with the vocal talent they have in that band. They'd be fine.
Styx hasn't lowered any of their tunes that I know of. They're singing everything in the original keys.
If I recall, some of the Shaw/Blades shows were tuned down a half step, but not sure if all of em were. I doubt it.
Tommy's a MUCH higher singer now than he was in Styx's heyday. Sometime after Kilroy, his vocal range increased dramatically.
JY's lead voice has gotten even crappier, but his falsetto is probably intact.

Yeah your right, but seriously after thinking about this I want to hear this Barry White version of Superstars, this could be epic. :)

The forum is dead because of trolls basically, so if you continue catering and sticking up for them, I guess it will just end up being you and the trolls posting.

What is so funny about the trolls that are on here is they are not even stealth trolls, not cleaver at all, it is so easy for me to ignore them. I will continue to ignore everything they say, and will not respond to anything they post. Still can't wait for the ignore feature to debut on the updated forums coming.

Thanks for the laugh. Out of the big "three" in that band, his voice has not fared as well. Listen to the live stuff now vs. even 10 or 20 years ago. Not that JY was ever the best singer, but his voice is not what it used to be at all. His upper range in the falsetto sounds not very good. When I saw him do "Midnight Ride" a few years back, it was musically fine, but didn't have the power or quality of the vocal as it should.

I was listening to "Caught In The Act" today while cutting the grass, and while J.Y. was giving his standard speech before "Snowblind", I was thinking about how much deeper he sounds now, just his speaking voice.

I know that a few members lurk on here, not sure how often now, especially since there's really nothing earth shattering going on and the few trolls on here. We used to have great conversations, feedbacks and opinions on here a few years ago then a few idiots drove away a few great people. A few years ago Tommy read something on here and posted his opinion in one of his "Hello Friends" letters. It's been mentioned in the past who lurks/lurked on here.

Actually, Jy gets a bum wrap. His LEAD voice, live, isn't great. It's like he tries way too hard or something. His harmony voice is a HUGE part of the Styx sound. So much that on Dennis' latest album, there are a few songs where someone is singing the note that JY would usually get in the harmony assignments if it was a Styx record, and he sounds VERY much like JY. I'm not sure why JY uses that weird Cowardly Lion voice in songs like "Snowblind" and "Double Life". He REALLY needs to drop the over use of his vibrato on those types of songs. But his harmony voice is seriously high. I think in Midnight Ride, if you're talking about the higher notes in the verses, yeah, he kind of jumps to his falsetto unnecessarily, so it does come off as a bit whimpy. In the old days, he would've just gone for it. On his harmonies though, I haven't noticed much of a difference-- BUT I haven't seen them live in a few years either, so I'm going off of youtubes mostly.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.
