Your input on covers for the New Styx CD

Postby classicstyxfan » Sat Dec 11, 2004 3:45 am

The Boys in the band need our help ! They need to choose 10 additional songs to cover on their next release......they've asked for YOU, Styx biggest/most interested fans, to submit your choices for songs they should cover on this soon to be epic CD.....

so, step right up and make your opinion known ! Tommy, JY and their new label all want to hear from YOU.

Well, The Lollipop Guild from the "Wizard of Oz" is a slam dunk for Gowan.

Perhaps, in view of their homage to John Lennon with "I Am The Walrus" they could next delve into the ouvre of Yoko Ono. I think she has one or two where all she does is scream.

 (All in good fun)

Torn between two lovers ( 70's pop classic ! )

Frankenstein ( Gowan on Lead vocal )

Smells Like Teen Spirit ( JY on Vocal )

Don't stand so close to me ( pseudo auto biographical for TS and Mrs Shaw ? ) " sometimes it's not so easy to be the Rock Stars pet......"

Hey Jude

Bohemian Rhapsody ( since Gowan sounds just like Freddie Mercury ! )

Rocky Mountain High

Proud Mary ( the quizessential cover tune )

Hocus Pocus ( we'll see if Gowan can Yodel )

Freebird

Bonus Track ( what else ) Blue Collar Man........Unplugged !

I think a giant floating tomato would be hillarious. Then the next album they could do a cucumber, and then celery.

Then, just to keep the Styx haters happy, they could release an album of Veggie-tales cover songs.

If you like to talk to tomatoes
If a walrus can make you smile
If you like to waltz with potatoes
Up and down the produce aisle...
Have we got a show for you!

RE: Frankenstein ( Gowan on Lead Vocals )

I guess we dont have any Edgar Winter Group fans here ? I was hoping someone would catch the irony of GOWAN handling the vocals on this tune ( which is an Instrumental )

oh well......
