It's about time that VH1 Classic did something to acknowledge the lineup change. I thought it was ridiculous back when they plugged Cyclorama during Headline Act and then proceeded to play DDY songs. (Nothing against those songs, it just seemed to be a conflict in interest).

I am the Walrus is featured on iTunes Music Store. As of this morning, I Am The Walrus is the 25th most purchased rock song for yesterday. This is down from #24 from the day before.

The song has not broken into the top 100 songs purchased on iTunes Music store.

They have actually made other efforts in this regard. They had lengthy interviews with the entire new lineup for the "All Roads Lead to Sturgis" weekend they did a few months back. Plus they played two live performances from the the Harley weekend there. (Or whatever it is called)

When it comes to playing the classic Styx videos, though, all roads lead to Dennis.

Finer point - this thread should be called "I Am THE Walrus" not "I Am A Walrus".... styx or non-styx, lets not besmurch the song by the Beatles.

That's FUNNY, I didn't even notice!!!! I'm usually the one that can't get song titles/lyrics right. That's why I call it the "Walrus Song". Even though I don't care for the Beatles music, yes, I'll give them the respect.

Picky, picky, Ash :D

However, you are correct, the Beatles are worthy of respect!!!

Bugs, thanks for the info. I didn't realize that VH1 Classic had interviewed the new band and played a couple of their performances!

I Am THE Walrus showed up on VH1 Classic today in their All Star Jams segment.
Interesting........ They normally do not play current videos anywhere but in Classic/Current. Maybe a tip of the hat to the studio visit from The Legend and his sidekicks.

FYI

I know that I have claimed the Gowan is related to Alvin Simon and Theodore on more than one occasion. I also think that More Love for the Money is the best track on Cyclorama. When Gowan does Dennis' material, he just doesnt have the right voice for it.

That being said...I really like the Walrus song. Gowan is Lennonesque vocally anyway and he sounds really good on this track (look Yogi, I agree with ya here). I dont think the track sounds anything like a Styx song, partly because it IS a remake and partly because Gowan sings it. The material Gowan did on Cyclorama had that "Styx sound" to it even more so than the rest of the album, probably due to the fact that he was a new vocalist.

There is a guy I work with who is fifty four. He is the BIGGEST beattles fan I know. He goofs on my for liking Styx (although he has several Styx albums), but thinks the Styx Walrus cover in his word "Rocks".

Now that is not my endorsement, but it does show the opinion of someone removed from the Styx soap opera's opinion of the song. It is more valid because of what a Beattles fanatic the guy is.

Normally I am on the Pro-Dennis side, but I also won't hide my head in the sand from a new experience. You can debate the legitimacy of Styx 6.0, but regardless of which side your on, there is no debate that what remains under the Styx banner is one talented collection of musicians. One could even argue that if they got rid of that loser JY and got Glen back, they would be even better.
