Why was "Unfinished Song" on the original release of "Man of Miracles" replaced with "Lies" on the re-release?

"Lies"

Doesn't anybody know the answer to this question?

If I'm not mistaken, "Unfinished Song" was not on the original pressing of the album, "Lies" was, but was soon replaced with "Best Thing", due to the fact that the band wasn't crazy about "Lies".. Then, "Man Of Miracles" was issued again, sometime in either the late '70s, early '80s, and "Unfinished Song" replaced "Lies" & "Best Thing". To add more confusion, when One Way put the album out, they went with "Lies", rather than "Best Thing" or "Unfinished Song"..

Here's an even better one. On the 2 LP's on One Cd version of TheSerpent is Rising/Man of Miracles, Unfinished Song was added onto the end of As Bad As This but is not included on the song list. This is why thw time of As Bad as This is listed as 6:04.

No, it's "Plexiglass Toilet" that's added onto "As Bad As This"---a "hidden" track. Gee, are they ashamed of "Plexiglass Toilet"? LOL!

Sounds like "Unfinished Song" got the raw end. I like that song! *sigh*

Thanks, guys, for the explanation.

I stand corrected. You are right.

2 CDs in One

What's really odd about that double CD ("SIR"/"MOM") is that if you look in the CD booklet, on the center page, if you read the very fine white print...this is "supposedly" a duplication of the original ("MOM") release's inner sleeve, right? Well, right where "Unfinished Song" was originally listed is "Lies". All the other songs have a verse of the song beneath. Not so with "Lies". Why? Because it was added later! I have the RCA version of "MOM" on vinyl, and "Unfinished Song" is listed as the first track on side B: exactly where "Lies" is on the One Way release. One Way's trying to make it seem as if "Lies" was on the RCA (and Wooden Nickel) release! Sneaky!

And isn't it ironic that the song is called "Lies"?

You can also note that except for Lies, they were all published by Wooden Nickel and Lies was published by BMG. The conspiracy continues...

Okay, but am I wrong in the assumption that the the first pressings of MOM had "Lies", and not "Unfinished Song"? If "Lies" was indeed on the first pressings, maybe One Way used a copy of the very first liner notes included, and that's what appeared on their edition of the doube album disc. I'm pretty sure "Lies" was a flopped single, and the band, mainly Dennis, wasn't pleased with it, and it was then removed, replaced first by "Best Thing", then "Unfinished Song".

Well you've got the order right. I thought it was the label that wanted Lies because Styx still had no national following, and by doing a cover of a known song it would give them some oomph. LOL. here we are back to covers again.
