Saw on Styxworld that JY is going to do Locomotive Breath on the new CD ! That will smoke! LB is one of my fvorite Tull songs!

Does anyone know if the new Styx CD is going to be all covers (as is the upcoming Shaw/Blades CD)? Or are they including some originals as well?

It will be all covers and is tentatively called Styx Salute.

Here is some information regarding the upcoming Styx covers cd:

The tracklisting for the Styx covers album is taking shape. In addition to their hit remake of the Beatles' "I Am The Walrus," the band is recording the Who's "I Can See For Miles," Jethro Tull's "Locomotive Breath," and "I Don't Need No Doctor," which Humble Pie made one of their signature tunes, according to melodicrock.com. Singer-guitarist James "J.Y." Young previously told LAUNCH that it will also have versions of Jimi Hendrix' "Manic Depression," Donovan's "Cosmic Wheels" -- which might be the album's title -- tracks from the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, and a bluesy version of Styx's own 1978 hit "Blue Collar Man," which they started working on at Chess Studios in Chicago last spring. The album will likely be out in March or April.

It looks like a lot of bands are doing covers lately.

Covers are a great way to bring great songs from the past to new generations and audiences.

As a high school and middle school teacher, it is becoming very strange to see the kids listening to acts like Hendrix, Floyd, Stones, and even Styx over the hip hop scene of today.

I love cover songs. It's great to see how different bands interpret different songs.

Thats the problem with current Styx they dont interpret the song any different , They just sing it and play it the exact same way

I like the way the Goo Goo Dolls remade the Supertramp song and I like how No Doubt remade "It's My Life" song.

I also like Dennis' version of that Led Zepplin song. I think it was a Led Zepplin song, anyhoo, it was GREAT!!!!!!!!!

I'm thinkin' <u>For What It's Worth</u> might've been more suited for Blades, but the CD looks interesting.

Two songs I'm REAL curious about: <u>Lucky Man</u> by E.L.P. and <u>Summer Breeze</u> by Seals & Crofts.

Really looking forward to a Styx version of <u>I Can See for Miles</u>!

I simply cannot imagine anyone else doing justice to "Lucky Man." That was so unique to the voice of Greg Lake, the synth/Moog work of Keith Emerson, and the interplay of the percussion of Carl Palmer. I almost cringe at the thought of anyone else even attempting to do this one.

That said, I think "Summer Breeze" is a great choice for them to cover. Good two-part harmony they could easily handle. I would think that one would sound really good.

I listened to the cover of "For What it's Worth" from the website and I was unimpressed. Stephen Stills owns that song in my estimation.

Covers are an iffy thing, no question. Some are great and some just so-so and some should never have been made.

My .02 here.

Actually, there's a Celtic Band called Emerald Rose that did an excellant cover of <u>Lucky Man</u>. It's one of my favorite tracks on their CD <u>Bending Traditions</u>.
