I didn't know that Huey Lewis and the News were not all together anymore. Now I have "Hip to Be Square" in my head - thanks - LOL

I don't think Creed tours anymore as Creed. I thought a couple of the members became Alter Bridge (?)

I have no clue about Yes and all the members or Asia or the Little River Band.

Isn't Kiss touring with the original members again or are they off again. I'm not a big Kiss fan.

With AC/DC the founding members Malcolm and Angus are still with the band, right? So "technically" they are still touring with the "original" members.

Useless Fact: Did you know that AC/DC opened for Styx in 1977?

I think Guns and Roses are totally gone, they are no more. A couple of the members are in another band, Velvet Revolver (sp?) or something like that.

I didn't know that Journey went through a ton of members. I saw them last summer and they sounded great.

The Bass Player, Mario, is no longer with Huey.

Thought I read somewhere that one of the originals was out of Kiss again.

Guns and Roses is Dead

I do believe Creed is now Alter Bridge. Someone left.

U2 and YES are the bands that I can think of who still have the classic lineup in tact , I guess Duran Duran is in there but they have not been around as long,

I think there's an orchestra out there doing the casino circuit still invoking the name of the late great Lawrence Welk......does that count ?

How bout the Eagles without Don Felder ?

If Daltrey and Townsend ever tour together again, would it be the Who?

Duran Duran are a funny band considered a rock band in the USA considered a joke here by rock fans as they catered for teeny boppers fans.....they are classed as Englands New Kids On The Block/NSYNC etc.....well they were in the 80s anyhow....I can remember arguing with my buddys 12 year old sister in the 80s we wanted to listen to Night Ranger, Styx, Asia, AC/DC etc while his sister wanted Duran Duran, Milli Vanilli or New Kids On The Block.... Come Sail Away or Girls On Film, difficult choice eh ?

What do you consider to be the classic lineup of Yes? Rick Wakeman, who I believe is with them now, was not with them when they released The Yes Album. Nor was he with them when they released 90210.

Yes has gone through many lineup changes and had success with each of them.

I don't understand this comment. Nearly if not all of the bands mentioned in this thread still have original members, just not all of the original members.

I think a more interesting thread and a more challenging one would be to list classic rock bands that still have ALL of their original members.

Understand your point but Wakeman is considered the classic lineup keyboard player. 90125 was a different version of YES and for sure they have had many but Anderson Squire Wakeman White and Howe are the classic lineup

Okay, so if a member passes away, that won't count. I guess the only band that I can think of U2. I'd say Night Ranger, but I think Fitz is touring with other bands right now so technically he's not with them.

I guess Rush wouldn't count since Neil wasn't the "original" drummer, but they've still been together pretty many years.

Why is this considered the classic lineup?

Bill Bruford was the drummer through the big 3 - "The Yes Album", "Fragile" and "Close to the Edge"

Slash, Duff, and Matt are in Velvet Revolver. I guess I was under the impression that GNR still existed in some legal form with Axl as the only original member? Not really my area of expertise (not to suggest that I have one).

Yes, you are correct. I'd forgotten about the name switch.

Does Aerosmith tour with their original lineup??????

Well U2 is the band that has the original line-up and has stayed together til this day.

I guess this can go off-topic - (I enjoy reading "useless information") LOL

I'd personally qualify Rush in the same category, BUT "technically" Rush doesn't have it's "original" band from day 1 of being Rush.

Here's a little biography for those who are interested (like me)

In true 1969 fashion, Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee named their act The Rush so as to fit into the rock gentry led by The Who, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Their home base was in Sarnia, Ontario with original drummer John Rutsey playing mostly cover tunes by Led Zeppelin, Iron Butterfly and Cream. Soon they would make their way to the lights of Toronto and set up residence at such bars as The Gasworks, The Running Pump and the old Abbey Road Pub.

A signing to Ray Danniels' fledgling SRO Productions led to their first, self-titled release in 1973 on Moon Records. Rutsey would soon leave the band due to poor health and St. Catherines native Neil Peart was brought in not only as drummer, but as songwriter as well. Danniels' new label, Anthem (named after an Ayn Rand novel that was also a song Peart wrote for 'Fly By Night') re-issued the first album in 1974.

Where is John Rutsey now?

The stories we heard growing up was that he quit the band thinking "they were going nowhere". It appears the main reason he left the group was due to health reasons, he had diabetes and couldn't go on extended tours.

After a failed attempt to start another band he quit drums altogether and became a body builder, apparently living in Toronto.

Kansas?

Steve Walsh left Kansas in 1982. John Elefante joined Kansas for two albums: Vinyl Confessions and Drastic Measures (plus one new song on a greatest hits package called "Perfect Lover")... then Walsh came back and Livgren, Hope and Steinhart were replaced by David Ragsdale, Billy Greer and one other keyboard player whose name escapes me at the moment.

Then Ragsdale left and Steinhart came back.... their last studio record featured the "classic" original lineup with Livgren and Hope along with the others.

Now I know I have WAY too much time on my hands.

No to Blue Oyster Cult. Checking out the history, they had a change of line-ups in the 1980's & 90's. Their "original" line-up is not together and hasn't been since 1981.

No to Queen too.

Any "hair" bands still together in their original line-up?

Close:

Steinhardt left after Vinyl Confessions. Livgren and Hope left after Drastic Measures. The song "Perfect Lover" on their greatest hits album was just Phil Eheart, Richard Williams and John Elephante. Elephante split after that. When Walsh came back, he brought with him Billy Greer from his band Streets. and Steve Morse from the Dixey Dregs. Greg Robert was an engineer on their next 2 albums and played keys with them on tour. Eventually David Ragsdale was brought in on violin and Greg Robert was made a permanent member. At about that time Kerry Livgren came back for one tour. Soon after that, Steve Morse left, and a few years later David Ragsdale and Greg Robert left and Robby Steinhardt came back.
