I never really notice Chuck too much ,I must say.But today i listened to Grove of Eglantine and Chuck sounds fantastic.
Any other trax on top of your heads where he is up, UP front.???
Yes,I could listen to all Styx albums myself and find out.But that won't happen in one sitting.

It's not up front that much, but there is a good bass line running thru Blue Collar Man-ERIC

What about "Castle Walls"? Is there a "bass-line" in that song? I have no clue what a "bass-line" is, but I think there's a lot of bass. Right?

Isn't LOTR one of those songs they "tweaked" from Glen's original? If so, it might not be Chuck's bass you hear at all. I could be wrong, but I don't think they started from scratch on that one.

I guess kinda sorta like hearing the bass as a lead/rhythm guitar,(to me).

Styx totally reworked LITR to make it more "Stygian" in sound. I believe DDY took Chuck's bass line, preprogrammed one of his keyboards to emulate a "slap bass" sound, and then mixxed it on top of Chuck's line. The result is you hear the keyboard more than you do Chuck. If it wasn't for that quirky thing, Chuck's bass line would've been front and center.

And if I were in front of that mixing board, I'd have made Chuck's line LOUD!

Ever heard Retrospectacle? Glen's original version sounds close to identical to the Styx version. You might have that one wrong, Psycho.

That's very possible. And yes, they sound virtually the same with the exception of the "Stygian" vocals in the chorus and the drum solo. They filled it out a little, but I am fairly sure they didn't re-work it at all.

That reminds me of a funny story (ok, only funnyto mr). NOTHING to do with the topic, except the spelling of Panozzo...

When I was lucky enough to meet Johnny Panozzo before one of the Edge shows, I asked him about the pronunciation of his name because I heard it pronounced "Pan-Ah-Zo" and "pan-OH-Zo," and wanted to know which was correct.

So Johnny's all smiles and laughing, and while he's signing my Kilroy LP, I say "It's Pan-OH-Zo, right?" he looked at me like I had six heads and said, "Uh yeah - John."

Way to go, Zan - I've only been an obsessed, lifelong fan, and the guy thought I wasn't even sure what his last name was!
