Just heard DJ Tommy Vance has died. Tommy hosted the only radio rock show in the late 70s and 80s , the only way to hear bands from across the pond in those days(including Styx) fond memories from my youth, can still hear that gravel voice "ROCK ON " Tommy R.I.P

Tommy was a legend, he got rock music on the radio and promoted so many bands. I always remember on a Friday night mom would say to me its 10pm time for bed I would go upstairs put my transistor radio on under the covers, pull the covers over my head and for 2 hours listen to Tommy on the Friday Rock Show playing Styx, Journey, Queen, Led Zep etc.... bands like Def Leppard, owe as much to him as anyone for what he done for a bands career he played everything you could think of, he would bring us the latest tour news, interviews and offer prizes in rock quizzes....he was as important as anyone in introducing me to the bands like Styx that I have grown to love. I remember when GI came out in July 77 he played either Come Sail Away, Fooling Yourself or Castle Walls every week for 6 months........RIP TOMMY YOU ARE A LEGEND AND WILL BE SADLY MISSED BY THE THOUSANDS OF ROCK FANS ACROSS THE UK WHO GREW UP LISTENING TO YOUR RADIO SHOW.
