Question about Big Bang Theory

I have been wondering how the royalties get split up for Big Bang Theory. Since is is mostly a covers album, the writers of the songs get publishing royalties. But what cut does STYX get?

Good Question.

I found out that the owner of the rights to the Walrus song is:

COMET MUSIC CORP
% SONY/ATV TUNES LLC

They will get paid. What they will get paid, I have no clue.

Did you all see the cover of the Big Bang Theory Cd? If it's the same that's on Tommy's t-shirt - EWWWWWWWW!!!!!!

Which picture?

I've seen it on one of the other boards. Zan, aren't you on every Styx/Dennis/Tommy/JY/Todd/Larry/Chuck/ board? Just kidding.

I have a couple good friends that are hard core Carrot Styx fans and they send me the info too (since I always need to know what's going on - LOL)

A fan from one of the other boards that went to one of the recent shows took a picture of the shirt that Tommy was wearing and posted it. It's part tye-dye and says Big Bang Theory on it. I'm terrible describing things and I have no clue on how to put a picture up here so I'll try to describe it.

It has an outline of an ultrasound or a picture of baby in the middle of the circle, with umbilicord still attached. The baby is giving the "horns" with his little fingers and looks like it's wearing a bandana, has a little Styx tattoo on it's little arm, has piercings on it's little ear, nose and eyebrow.

I don't know if this is the cover of the cd or just the new Styx Big Bang Theory t-shirt.

I love babies, but after just seeing one of our home videos over the weekend of my youngest being born, I just wouldn't want that on a t-shirt - LOL I guess it's just the timing

I was hoping the new cover would have pixie's so I can start calling them Pixie Styx and retire Carrot Styx - LOL I'M JUST HAVING FUN!!!!

Sony ATV music is, I believe, partially owned by Michael Jackson... I think it's the part of the Beatles library that was/is owned by Jackson. I licensed a song from Sony ATV for an album. (Neil Diamond's "Solitary Man").

The publisher gets 7.5 cents per album sold, per song on the album. If a publisher has two songs on an album, then they get 15 cents per song.

As for what Styx gets paid - I don't really know. I am guessing that was part of Styx contract with the label as to how much they will get paid for the record

1. No, I'm on indra, AOL (sorta), Styxnet/Styxland now, Melodic, and Burtnikville. I applied for a DeYoung membership, but I was turned down, lol - Still working on getting on Gowan's list ;-)

2. To post pics with Urls, just click the "Img" button above the posting window, paste the link to the photo, then click "img" again. That should do it.

3. The description rings a bell, but I don't recall it exactly.

Ash, I post the information on the Walrus song hoping that someone would know more of "who" owned it. Thanks for clearing that up and for the additional information.

Zan, you were turned down for a Dennis DeYoung membership? That's kind of sad. Every one must know you  Just kidding.

I tried to post pictures before and it didn't work. I think I have to put them on another site and then transfer it over. I'll have to ask permission from the person that took the picture before I post it. :)

I think that might have been the point, but I can take a hint! haha

Yeah, they have to be linked to a website of some sort in order for them to show up.

Don't think the cover is finalized yet. Over the weekend Tommy posted that it wasn't done yet.

"As for "Big Bang Theory" we're still putting all the final elements together, including the artwork, credits, licensing, blah, blah, blah so that it can go to the manufacturer, but we are closing in on it."

So Styx can take comfort :?: in knowing that the success of their IATW single and BBT CD will be assisting The King of Pedophilia's defense fund !!!

Anything from the Beatles catalog, unfortunately, it seems.

Eeeew indeed! It grossed me out when I found out MJ outbid Paul McCartney when the publishing rights to the Beatles catalog went up for bid.

Oh, and BTW, Classic. I don't get the impression large sums of money are pouring into the Michael Jackson coffers from sales of "I Am the Walrus".

You and me both. There's something inherantly wrong with that! Maybe now with all Michael's legal trouble, Paul will be able to buy them back.

Are we SURE "ol' boys for toys" ( or is that YOUNG boys for toys ? )
still owns the Beatles catalog ?

Maybe just wishful thinking, but I thought maybe he sold them for a profit some years back.....

From what I understand, MJ still owns the Beatles catalog, but Sony now has the controlling interest, or something, because MJ borrowed against it to, I dunno, pay for Neverland? Buy a 25th nose? Redo the whitewash job? Not sure, but I hear he is in financial trouble and the Beatles catalog is what keeps him afloat, so-to-speak.

Well, I'm glad I already own all the Beatles I need........because I'd be hard pressed to buy any more knowing it's helping to pay for that creeps lawyers !

I say give him all of the "Jesus Juice" he can drink , and put him in a cell with the biggest, meanest, lonliest inmate already serving life without parole, and "let nature take it's course" !

Wait, what was the original topic here ? oh yeah the BIG BANG theory !
and with that this thread has come full circle, in a perverse sort of way.....

I believe Bugsy's got it right - Sony controls at least SOME of Michael Jackson's Beatles catalogue...which tragically means it's pretty safe to say McCartney will never be able cough up enough cash to buy whatever amount it'd take the megolithic Sony to give up that publishing.

Ugly, aint it?

Michael Jackson had to take the stand in his own trial today. The lawyers didn't want him to do it. But they figured it was the only way he could get his nose to grow back.
