I just got off the Styxworld site, and in early July(7-3) Styx is playing a Munciple Airport in Kansas. Then on 7-6 it looks like they play another one in Michigan. Ive NEVER heard of any bands doing airport gigs. Do they play at certain gates??? I heard JY is anti Delta, what if Ricky cant get through security. What does the FFA say about this. Do Southwest coustomers prefer Dennis over Lawerence?? What if I am late to my gate because I'm caught in a mosh pit??Will the flight attendants leave their bras& panties at the shows, and fly without undergarments??? Will peanuts or pretzels be served??????? These airport venues raise NUMEROUS questions!!!!!! Could train and bus stations be far behind???????????

Hey, Yogi? Where were you when we discussed the airport venues in our usual civilized way? The "assembly line" is on page 3 under Carrot Styx 2005 dates.

We put nearly as much effort on that one as we have on Frogfest and Corn Festivals.

I still like my luggage carousel idea. An automatic "theater in the round" albeit a bit noisy.

I dunno, though. I might would stop to listen to a few Styx songs as long as they were on my way to my departure gate and Gowan was not singing.

They might be doing this because there is not a large enough venue available. I think I posted in the other thread that they played Columbus, NE in the summer of 2003, and yes, it was at the municipal airport.

The "backdrop" for the stage was one of the hangars, and there was a decent sized chunk of runway roped off for the audience. An especially nice touch was the beer tents :D They drew about 4,000, and there's just nowhere in Columbus (small town that it is) to handle that kind of crowd.

Several kids from my school went to the show and really enjoyed it. Parents around here were a lot more receptive to letting their younger teens go to a show 30 miles away in a small town versus 2 hours away in a city like Omaha. For many, it was their first concert. Listening to how excited they were as they raved about the concert afterwards was the best. For me personally, that was more impressive than if Styx would've sold out the largest venue in the state!

The other bonus at this show was general admission. All the Styx shows I've seen in Lincoln and Omaha have had assigned seating and it's generally harder to move around freely, which I prefer to do.

All in all, it ranks right up there with some of the best shows I've been to.

It's a good idea, as long as there isn't a Spinal Tap moment with the planes and tower coming in over the speakers :D -ERIC

There's a better chance of seeing a rock show at an airport in rural Nebraska than there is of seeing a plane :D :D :D :D

Phish use to play airports. Ended up that they basically shut them down.
