I have a few friends that are dj's in the area that received the cd recently.

I didn't care for most of the songs to begin with. I gave the songs a few listens and in my opinion - ACK!!

I didn't think Blue Collar Man 2004 sounded "bluesy", it was so sloooooow, painfully sloooooooooooow.

The worse song and I hope that I never hear it again in my life was "It Don't Make Sense (You Can't Make Peace) sung by JY. Nothing against Mr. Dixon and his music, it's JY singing this, terrible!!!

Funny how those who despise something so much not only listen to what they hate, but SEEK IT OUT!

You could take a hammer and nail and try to pound it in your ear...Write a review about that experience and I'm certain it would use the same handful of words, all of them spelled and arranged in exactly the same way.

Disregard anything heard....the CD was gievn a fresh mastering only last Saturday.
I've had a copy of the pre-master since Friday and await this new master to make proper judgement.

But you know what? I like what I've heard....definitely more life than some other covers albums I've heard.

Review and soundbytes in due course....when I'm given the ok.

yes its true, Monker.

Should it be any surprise that those that didn't know or like the songs before would like them just because Styx did it? Hell No. And it is absolutely ridiculous for Froy to want a copy of a cd to validate a review he wrote months ago.

Monker, This wasn't a review it was just my opinion of what I heard. If I were to do a review, I would've made remarks about each song and what I thought.

Again, I didn't care for most of the songs chosen in the first place. I don't care who sings them.

Andrew, did you really like JY singing "It Don't Make Sense (You Can't Make Peace)?

Yeah, I really tried to seek this out, just like Cyclo.... I guess you didn't hear the story about that - LOL Anyone that grew up with me or knows me, knows that I'm a huge Classic Styx fan. I talk about Dennis and Styx every episode of my little cable show - LOL

Everyone's going to have their own opinions about this cd, I just posted what I thought of 2 songs. Sheesh

Maybe Froy will give Styx a fair shot this time and listen to the CD for what it is, music. Maybe he can put his personal feelings aside and give an honest review. That does not mean he will like it but at least it will be done with an open mind. If I remember correctly Froy did say that he liked a couple of songs from Cyclorama.

Thats exactly what i will do
If I wanted to blast it and lie about it I would just make up a review
It will be a fair review good or bad
Im sure there has to be a few good songs lets see what happens.

I haven't heard it, but by the list, I do agree with you about the song choices, Suite. I'm sure I'll like them a little more hearing Styx do them, however...just because I love Styx. I have no doubt they'll "improve" on some things...But yeah - I doubt I would have chosen any of those songs personally. I guess we'll see.

(I bet "Don't Need No Doctor" will kick ass, tho)

Each and every person who posts here, no matter who/what they like regarding Styx and its various incarnations, has individual comments to bring to the table.

As to the covers. I will offer no opinion (repeat: OPINION) unless I hear it myself and that is highly unlikely. Then I guess I will become one of "those who despise something" should I give even a slightly negative opinion.

There are a few songs on Big Bang that I don’t see as fitting in with the Styx style. First off I’m not a fan of blues so that makes 3 songs right off the bat that I’m not sure of. The others are Summer In The City and I Can See For Miles. The songs that I think do fit in with Styx music are Wishing Well, Locomotive Breath, Salty Dog, Can’t Find My Way Home, I Don’t Need No Doctor, and Manic Depression. The ones that I feel could go either way are One Way Out and Find The Cost Of Freedom. I’ll have to wait and hear them to see if I am right. I wish Suite would have given a review of the CD. Does it sound like Styx to you Suite?

It is not 'music' to froy...It's a cause. Everything from his petition to get Dennis back in Styx to his boycott of the band...It is one action following another to put an end to this Styx and prop up Dennis in the process. If you think for one moment that he wants to review this CD to give a non-biased opinion, you are living in a fantasy.

I'm not sure if he ever 'reviewed' it...The only song he wrote 'nice' remarks about was "One With Everything"...Everything else was part of his dillusion of Styx writing songs to insult Dennis...not from 'hearing' it on CD, but from reading the lyrics on the website and listening to the downloads.

As the judges would say, they didn't make (most of) the songs "their own" - LOL

To me, a couple of the songs sounded too much like the originals, it didn't have that "Classic Styx sound".

Tommy's songs are okay, but then again, I always liked his singing. Don't care for the song choices, again. I guess you all know that by now - LOL

Come on Suite…… no review? What order are the songs in? Who sings what? What is your favorite song? We know what you think the worst song is. How does it compare to Cyclorama as far as style and sound? Does it rock? Is it slow? What does the cover look like? Inquiring minds want to know.

If I remember correctly Froy gave props to One With Everything he called it a gem. Indirectly I thought he gave props to These Are the Times stating something like when Dennis might of heard it way back when the song might of not of been as good. He also kind of gave indirect props to Fields Of The Brave saying this song should be sent????( somewhere) something about the soldiers fighting( honoring them).

Yes,I remember ,way back.Froy actually was very humble when he was caught off guard.It was very sweet.He had just a had a smoke he said, which was the cause for his 'error'.
