This was an interesting interview. I always learn a little something new with each one of these. For once, the interviewer seemed to know a little bit about Styx and Styx history.

By far the best interview with Dennis
He is a class act and easy to see why he was the voice of Styx
He is promoting STYX right now saying he's a huge fan
Styx is out promoting every other band except itself what a shame.
Thats what happens when you have YES men in the band .

For those of us too lazy to check it out ( Embarassed ), what did he say?

I need to listen again to the whole thing (it was good). It was just so nice to hear something with no slamming involved. No "scent marking" the world. No "arc of our careers" , etc.

EK, when asked about the success of Equinox, he said, no it was NOT a success. That did not happen until Grand Illusion. He said it sold 350,000 copies when it first came out. However, NOW it has sold over two million.

A lot of people caught on to that great album, apparently, after the fact.

It sure remains my favorite.

Dennis did say with regards to Equinox was that it came out the same year as Frampton Comes Alive and that is where A & M put ALL their push and promotion. Hmmmm???

Without diminishing the quality of Equinox, I think we can thank Grand Illusion and the subsequent albums for the big jump in sales. Just like the sales for Def Leppard's first 2 albums jumped after Pyromania and Hysteria, etc., etc. If Styx had broken up for good after Equinox, it's possible that it wouldn't have gone gold. It's all about promotion and the big breaks at radio, etc.

Actually, I'd say the increased sales and popularity of the band came more with the success of "Come Sail Away". "Fooling Yourself" is a fine song, but I don't think "The Grand Illusion" would have really come close to making the mark that it did, if it weren't for "CSA"..

True, and this was alluded to in Behind The Music, so it would seem to make sense.
