Money Talks......or does it ?

PostPosted: Sat Apr 09, 2005 1:02 pm

OK, that last topic really took off......so here's another one that has vbeen rattling around in my brain as of late. ( too much time on my hands....!!!)

From time to time, soime here, myself included have expressed the somewhat cynical opinion that Classic Styx ( minus JP of course ) will eventally get back together, provided enough money is provided to make it worth swallowing the necessary pride. I still believe
this could happen, the wildcards being:

1. Finding a promoter / investor willing to pay the necessary money
2. Finding a diplomat to present the offer in such a way that no one comes off looking like they conceeded anything to make it happen.

SO........that said, my questions to all of you are:

1. Did someone put something in the brownies I had for desert ?

2. How much guaranteed cash do you think it would take to make it happen ?

Discuss amongst yourselves.....

I think it's an impossible situatiion to reconcile - because Dennis sued the band AND the band are not doing THAT bad without him. They don't need to take him back. And, Dennis doesn't really need to GO back...even for a load of money. I doubt either side has enough incentives to do it.

** DEAD HORSE WARNING **

I hope DDY never goes back to Styx.

I also hope DDY plays in Nashville so I can see his show.

I think a promoter would work harder on TRYING to get Perry back with Journey or Roth back with Van Halen before trying this one AGAIN. Let's remember that this one has already been done one time, the other two have not. Perry back with Journey and Roth back with Van Halen would do so much better than DeYoung back with Styx. I think the other two are much popular and would draw so much more buzz and hype than DeYoung back with Styx.

Sigh.....lucky you. Like Suite, I tremble at the prospect of your review, but maybe you will enjoy the show.

You know, if you don't like his looks or his onstage manner, just close your eyes and enjoy the MUSIC, LOL! The voice is unbeatable.

At the HOB show, I noticed a woman doing just that. She had her eyes closed and a beatific smile on her face. And no, it was not Suite or Sadie!

Not a good idea for them to reunite. And I hope Dennis is given an opportunity to play all the venues that so many here would like him to.

Peace

I've got to agree with you here. I don't think there is enough public interest for it to happen.

Besides the 2 STYX camps have gone down very different paths since seperating.

Perry and Roth have really gone nowhere.

Uh, wrong. Perry was back in Journey for the "Trial By Fire" album. Tommy even mentioned in one of his "Notes From the Band" that he shared a flight with Steve Smith and that the Journey reunion tour was going to be HUGE. I guess Tommy's not ALWAYS right.

Perry has even less reason to go back in Journey then Dennis does for Styx. Perry doesn't even perform. He even has an open invitation to join the band at any time. The bottom line is that at least DeYoung is still touring and supposedly recording...and Perry is busy saying how much he likes having hs life back, or whatever.

Money can't buy you happiness. And it appears that all parties are happier now than they were when they had boatloads of money.

UH...OK, I didn't realize there was a right or wrong to this question. I thought it was a matter of thoughts or opinions, but you seem to know everything  .

"I" still "THINK" that a Perry or Roth returning to their banks would be bigger than DeYoung AGAIN returning. AND if you take the time to read my poster properly, I was talking more about touring, not an album. Perry and Roth could return to their former bands for just a tour without any new album and a tour would sell very well.
Things are very, very, very, very different now in the music and concert world now than the 'Trial By Fire' time. With the internet going so HOT right now and EVERYONE and their brother back together again and TOURING, most without even a new album, it would be very different now.

AGAIN for you..."A TOUR, TOUR, TOUR where Perry or Roth returned to their former bands, "I" "THINK" would go off better than DeYoung returning just for a TOUR.
I was saying that promoters would be more INTERESTED in TRYING to get PERRY back or ROTH back than DeYoung back because the Roth one has never happened, the DeYoung one has and as far as "I" and concerned, the Perry one really didn't happen...not in a way such as the Crue is doing it.

** takes two steps back **

Based on my history of running message boards and forums in a previous life, I've determined that people who feel the need to put every 4th or 5th word of a post in ALL CAPS are usually psychopaths who eventually resort to threats or other sorts of inflamatory behavior.

UH...OK, I didn't realize there was a right or wrong to this question. I thought it was a matter of thoughts or opinions, but you seem to know everything  .

That is true...it is a matter of 'opinion' to answer the question. But, when you say that a Journey reunion with Perry has not already happened, you are wrong - it has.

LOL...Perry hasn't completed a touring obligation since the Frontiers tour. He decided to drop the second half of the "Raised On Radio" tour. He canceled a large number of dates at the end of his solo tour...and he alone decided to not tour for "Trial By Fire".

Besides, the guy is not even active in the music business. He may 'think' about touring, but he never does.

It ain't gonna happen.

AGAIN for you..."A TOUR, TOUR, TOUR where Perry or Roth returned to their former bands, "I" "THINK" would go off better than DeYoung returning just for a TOUR.

That may be true...But, I doubt very much that there is any more chance of Perry returning to Journey then there is of Dennis returning to Styx.

as far as "I" and concerned, the Perry one really didn't happen...not in a way such as the Crue is doing it.

Well, that may be true for you...But, I doubt that you will find many Journey fans who agree with you. TBF was Journey's last stand with Perry. Everybody who follows Journey should be accepting that by now.

Ya know, I realized I was doing that as well. Then when I thought about how much it costs me to go to see one of DeYoung's shows, and I'm sitting/standing there with my eyes closed?!! I told myself that, if I wasn't going to watch the show, I should quit going & just listen to the "Live with Symphony" CD more. OR I could start actually watching the show! I chose the latter option!

Is "bolding" a few words okay? I love to bold words. When I get mad on here I like to put a few words in CAPS, I hope that doesn't make me a psychopath - LOL

Count in another vote from the "soccer mom contingency." I think it enables the keyboardist to have a stage presence and not be a slave to a single spot behind a huge panel. It's not nearly as boring to watch.
