Would any of the current Dennis fans be happy with a new CD full of songs like Goodnight My Love and My God Can Beat Up Your God? Would you consider that a great CD or would you be hoping for something else?

I will probably like any type of cd that Dennis releases - that's just me.

I would personally like a variety of songs. I would like songs like the ones that you mentioned, with maybe 2 ballads and then a few rockin' songs.

I don't look for anyone style or sound, which is why I was able to enjoy changes from POE to Cornerstone to PT to KWH to EOTC and even BNW...

That being said, since I really like My God, I'd be happy if he included material of that nature.

Beyond that, I have no expectations so I will probably not be disappointed.

Peace

I really like "My God" also... I think it's a good song. It isn't too far removed from many of his songs on Paradise Theater if you ask me. It would fit on that album with no problem. "Hello God" is a good tune also.

Maybe it's just me but I happen to like much of Dennis' recent material. "Fallen Angel", "Great Expectations" and "High Crimes and Misdemeaners" off of BNW are good tunes. I enjoy those songs more than the rest of BNW.

I don't know... they just feel closer to "Paradise Theater" then the other material on that album. They are good Dennis DeYoung songs.

Tommy's songs on BNW just aren't developed... they "rock" and everything but they just aren't anything special. I even prefer "Heavy Water" to any of Tommy's songs.

That said, I wouldn't be opposed to Dennis rocking out a bit more... but if he writes good tunes I'll take that over rocking out just to rock out. I've always liked his melodic sensibilities.

this is the first time I have heard anyone compare even by a stretch that BNW songs were of Paradise Theatre ilk.

And what was Dennis' last real rock song that wasn't a balad?

Well, you know, I intend to buy it, but...there's not enough time in my life to listen to all the music I love from Styx & DeYoung now! I don't know how I'll find time to listen to a whole new cd.

Seriously, I'm looking forward to the new cd. I like all 3 of the studio songs included on "Live." I like to think of them as 'teasers' for the upcoming studio album. I'd like a few more "rock" songs, but his ballads/AC songs are all so beautiful! I expect we'll see a good mix, hopefully before the end of the year! 8)

I think we'll be able to hear a new song soon - hopefully :D

I know he's been practicing or playing one of the new ones during mic check. I think you could consider this a rockin' one, I wouldn't call it a ballad, it's not slow or soft.

Well, I'm not comparing them per say... but I'd say "My God" isn't too far calibre-wise from songs like "Lonely People" or "Nothing Ever Goes As Planned"... just good songs.

I don't see where that's all that much of a stretch... to me they're typical Dennis DeYoung songwriting.

I wouldn't categorize "My God" or "High Crimes" as ballads... geeze... does everything have to be peddle to the metal rock? I'd rather have good tunes then rocking for the sake of rocking with poor songwriting.

That's not to say I like everything Dennis has done... I think "Paradise" is crap... esp. the intro. I have no interest in his Broadway disc and I never got into most of his solo stuff although I do really like "Black Wall" and "Desert Moon" off the the Symphony disc that I wasn't familiar with previously.
