I am an ex-high-tech sales guy (18years) who is now trying to make it as a Carpet Cleaner (Country Rose Carpet Cleaning) - I have a wife and two girls ages 8 and 13..............Who are you?

Oh, the damage I could do to the social fabric of south central Wisconsin
as a high school guidance counselor !!!!!!

I'd do a different sort of damage as an electrician, and probably to myself
so that career choice would be short lived.......remind me to up my life insurance if I ever announce THAT career change !

so, would you like my REAL bio, or the one I have posted on e-harmony ???? ( Mrs Classic, if you are reading this, I am just kidding about that ! ) I'll give you the legit bio.

at the moment, I am still "between jobs" my next career will be my 3rd...
I spent more than a decade as a Retailer, managing small specialty apparel stores......then another Decade in Sales/Service/Marketing for a distributor of Industrial Safety and 1st aid products.

Mrs Classic and I got married in Lost Wages Nevada a little over 8 years ago, and we are the "proud parents" of 2 labrador retreivers...one Yellow and one Black. As a young man, I dabbled as a vocalist, every style you can think of form Barbershop Quartets, Musicals, Weddings, and fronting
a progressive 70'S rock band.

There you go, more than you wanted to know !!!!

It wasn't ignored...I just have no idea what the say here! I've been around so long that it seems like every aspect of my life has been covered on one forum or another at some point. My name is zan, and I'm a styxaholic. Thanks for letting me share. :-D

Well, I'm a newbie, so I'll respond. I'm a thirty-something secretary in the land of Dixie with very intermittent access to the 'net. I have a hubby (who is very patient with my DeYoung obsession) and 2 teenagers, one of whom is also a Styx/DeYoung fan.

I have a very hard time picking a favorite Styx or DeYoung song, as there is way too much quality music involved to choose from. Yes, I consider myself more of a DeYoung fan than a Styx fan, but don't hold that against me!

As for you "old-timers" out there, remember there are those of newbies who are too busy trying (and failing miserably) to keep up with the current threads to go back and figure out who's who. Not trying to pressure you into responding; just hoping you won't assume I know something about you that I don't.

Thanks evileyes,

Always like to here about parents passing the Styx torch to thier kids. Although I have been posting since 2003, my frequencie of posts is not the same as many others so I often feel like this is a closed club that is not too interested in the casual poster. That s why this post was intended to get to us less feverant Styx fans a chance to meet the
"popular posters", but as you can see this post while looked at is mostly ignored - oh well I tried

Believe me, this isn't a closed club on this board. I'm sorry that you feel that way. Sometimes there's so many topics and posts on here that posts get lost. Half of the time I feel like I'm talking to myself - LOL

If you ever come to Wisconsin and want to see DDY, just let me know, you're more than welcome to join us for dinner, everyone's invited.

As most of you know, I'm older than dirt (LOL), mid-30's and then some, I work part-time as a Lunch Lady at our local high school (LOL) and the other days I stay home working on screenplays and publicity for a movie production company, I'm married to an awesome guy and we have 3 kids. I've been a Styx fan since 1972 and I really like their music as you all know. Also, you all know I enjoy bragging. As a hobby I have my own local access cable show that I'm a Producer and a co-host. We interview local and national music bands. I also co-host another tv show for the same station which we interview actors & actresses. Also as a hobby and part-time job I work on film crews in the Milwaukee (&suburbs). I was a paid "extra" for the "hit" movie "Mr. 3000" LOL, I'm in the stands if you look close - LOL

My kids are huge Styx and Dennis fans, I hope to bring them to a concert this summer :)

OSL --

Please feel free to post anytime. I, for one, appreciate everyone's input. Sometimes, as Suite says, things get lost in the shuffle. And sometimes there is a hell of a shuffle over here.

I am the one who is older than dirt. One clue, I saw the Beatles live and I was a teenager.

Retired to the country now. I love all animals. Was into horses and horse shows for many years as my hobby. Retired from that too with only one broken bone and one life-threatening toss by a young horse I was training. Whew!

I love many, MANY kinds of music. Progressive rock is my favorite, however.

I am a musican of sorts -- guitar and could sing on key there early in my life. Not so sure now.

I consider Dennis DeYoung the epitome of a great entertainer, vocalist, and musician. I miss him in Styx but he is taking a new road and I am following right along with him wherever it takes him.

OSL:
I'm a thirtysomething high school math teacher. I have a wife and a 16-year old daughter, who is much more familiar with the Styx catalog than her peers. Styx is the only band from my younger years that I still listen to regularly. Nowadays I tend to get into the newer rock bands (Crossfade, Breaking Benjamin, Saliva, etc.) I'm also a bit of a closet Eminem fan and can be found listening to the occasional Nelly rap (shudder). And if you haven't figured out from my usual avatars, I can hold my own with the Star Wars nerds of the world -- I even have a Jedi robe

This was a great idea for a topic and a nice change of pace, as well. My apologies to any I may have bored to death :D

I doubt anyone here was trying to come across as a closed club. Considering the differences of opinion, and more the tolerance of those differences, I'd hardly say it was closed at all.

On to the boring part...me...

Married for close to 20 years, one son, almost 8. He sings a great Mr. Roboto

I manage a department where we plan and manufacture gift products. I'm involved in marketing, merchandising, and production planning...among other duties.

Born and raised in the City of the Big Shoulders

Beyond that, I am something of a movie buff, and well, I am called the "mistress of useless info" by my boss for my ability to remember trivial details.

Like I said, pretty boring.

OSL,

I'm 34, two kids 13 and 10. Been a Print Shop manager since I got my Master's in '97. Born in Chicago, lived in Charlotte since The Grand Illusion was a new record. Coach my son's middle school soccer team and am an assistant scoutmaster in his troop. Have been force feeding my kids Styx since birth and now both of them know far more lyrics to I Am the Walrus than any kid their age should.

Hope that helps a little.

Scott

Classic, remember your an Industry Mogul :) You're popular to me :)

Oh, I can add that I'm on the PTA board at school, I teach Sunday school, on our neighborhood association board, help coach baseball in the summer, help with Daisy and Cub Scouts and volunteer at school.

I think that's it for today on me (just remember my tagline-LOL)

Yes Classic your one of the cool kids- Ok in rereading my last post I do believe I have stole a chapter from my 13 year old daughters book , the old "nobodys my friend" story. While I really regressed there it seems to have worked and I am glad. I am not a big fan of the cyber world, or I should say I still feel it leaves out a lot (I should use more Emoticons  ) but very happy with the posts ! I think it slowed down the pace a little - We all love / hate Styx , Dennis whatever lots of passion and opinions. I,ve never had a conversation with any past, current or yet to be named members of Styx but I have with lots of you guys and it is really nice to here a small bio from you - Thank You

I'll be 40 in June, I'm married, now for almost 12 years. We have a 10 yeat girl, who loves Styx and Journey, a 4 year old daughter, who kinda of likes Styx, and a almost 2 year old son, who if it isn't Blues Clues, or Jay jay the Jet Plane, he really doesn't care for it.
My wife is a hair stylist, has here on shop. We meet at Shoney's rest. when I was a manager there. I worked for Shoney's for 15 years, 13 in mgmt, before I decided to get a life. Tried being insurance salesman, Prsion gaurd, and other rest. work, before coming to work at Abita Springs Water Company. "Abitaman can" is our company logo. I deliver the bottles to your front door, business, or store. I have been doing this for 6 years now. This friday I go to the college down the road from me to see what I have to do to start back, still want to work at Abita till I'm out.
Been a Styx fan since 77. Best group in the world. I think Dennis was Styx, but I still follow the current Styx. Have all the members solo stuff, except for Larry, I'm working on his. Styx and Dennis are better off now doing what they do, just wish Dennis would get down to where I live, and that is Ocean Springs, MS. Which about 80 miles east of New Orleans, and 55 miles west of Moblie, AL.
I like to trade concerts, so email me.-ERIC

OK here goes. I'm a 34 yr-old woman, divorced with one 7 year old daughter. She's seen Styx with me about 4 times now, and she loves them. However, I've seen them 38 or so times in my life. I was born and raised in South Florida and have the pale skin to prove it. Currently, I work as an admin assistant for an asphalt shipping company in Boca Raton. Previously, I served 13 years in retail, but I got out. lol...knock on wood, I haven't had to go back in 4 years.

I also sing part time in a classic rock cover band in Hollywood, FL. It keeps me occupied and out of trouble, and it's a lot of fun too.

My stance on the Styx/DDY issue is fairly obvious, but I was one of the original people who hated the idea of him gone. Let's just say many angry people helped propel me into the spot I landed. But it's getting better now. Time is a great healer, as they say. A few years ago, my friends labelled me the Queen of sarcasm, but now they'd probably change it to the Queen of Diplomacy. haha ;-)

I am also very, very tired right now and take no real responsibility for the contents of this post.

Heres my bio. I just turned 41. I'm a high school baseball coach at a small school in Texas. I played professional baseball for 2 1/2 years before I got released. I coached in college for 2 years, then at some big high schools in Texas. I'm working my way backwards!!

Four years ago I got an infection in my tibia after having my wisdom teeth extracted that was the cause of me resigning a REALLY REALLY good coaching position where we had tons of success. An old boss of mine hired me in my current position. Best boss you could EVER have.

Based on my medical problem, I BELIEVE Dennis 100% regarding his medical condition. If Tommy, JY and Chuck kicked him out based on this they are sorry sorry people. Since I believe he was kicked out for MANY other reasons I feel his removal was probably semi justified.

I am orginally from St. Paul Minnesota where I grew up listening to Styx and playing baseball & hockey. There were other groups I liked but NOT even close to Styx.

Ive been married for 13 years and have a 5 year old daughter( who has seen Styx 3 times), and a three year old son. We also have 2 dogs a pit bull and a pit /lab mix.

I almost forgot..... I'm a closet Arbys fan!!

This a sneaky attempt to move this up

ok,
here's my shot at this.

I'm 38 yrs old. And after a number of court battles finally have gotten custody of my 3 kids from my ex-wife, ages 14, 14, 11. My son is a Styx fanatic (one of my 14 year olds, actually my oldest) and he has seen Styx since the break up a dozen or so times and DDY once. We actually have tickets to see Dennis 2 more times and Styx once more as it stands now. I am also quickly learning to be a full time dad to two wonderful girls and all the issues they don't wanna talk to a dad about. (oh brother) I am a middle school and high school business/computer teacher that gives all my students a high concentration of Styx music in class when they are working and have recently converted one of my eighth graders and a high school senior.

Currently because of the expenses of my court cases with my ex, I spend most of my time either here on this BB, writing and researching curriculum, and saving my pennies for more Styx concerts.

My turn!

I'm 43, a single parent of 2 wonderful teenagers: a son, 19; and a daughter 15. I live in the Tampa Bay area (born and raised), but have also lived in Georgia, California and Illinois. I have raised my kids on my own since my daughter was a year old. I've been blessed - they have made my life easy! Included in our household is a dog, 2 cats and a dove (lovingly known as my zoo)!

I'm an accountant during the day and work part-time at a department store. Music is my pleasure - I played the flute - and dabbled with the piano and guitar (but would not begin to brag by any means - more tinkering than seriousness). Music is my escape...

I probably read here more than I post...but enjoy this message board greatly.

It has been a pleasure learning about my fellow Styx fans. What a wonderful thread!

I hate to keep doing this in a lame attempt to keep this thread alive, but I really love a relating a real person to the StyxFans that we all are. It's way cool and I think brings a little more reality to the board . That has some advantages...it's harder to be a jerk to someon a little less anonymous ....Now since Froy never posted on this thread we can all still awsome he is a mental paitent at some loony bin that has a real lack of internet us security. And we can feel free to insult him with impunity.

OK then.
I am Michael.
I am 45 years old.Lived my first 23 years in Denmark.Came to Canada for 1 year and somehow managed not to go back.
It won't happen now due to me having a common law partner with a 6 year old boy,(who ofcourse is perfect(most of the time)).
I usually try to stay underneath the radar but do stick my nose above every now and again.
I like coasting this site as a means to keep occupied with something as I play my music, while the missus watch Survivor and such.
I work in bookstore and am well read or maybe not.I love sci-fi and rock bios.
I don't like people who litter.
I like people who have good manners and respect thier fellows.
I could probably find more to bore you with but enough for now.
I am thinking about a 'What if....alternate world part 3.
