Zan, what about the Dennis concert?

Zan,

did you ever post your thoughts about the DeYoung concert? I'm curious about what you thought but I didn't see it any where. Did you post it and I missed it?

You didn't miss it. I didn't post it because of the inevitable. ;-)

It was a good show, and I'll leave it at that. LOL

Leave it as a 'good show'? That sounds like a nice review for people to add to their ever expanding book of reviews:

Dennis DeYoung - Good show

Perhaps one day it will finally be updated with your full review:

Dennis DeYoung - Mostly good show.

:D

You people are funny. And obviously new. LOL...

I am not afraid. I am just tired of the way the walls feels when I smack my face into it. But here, since you all seem SO interested in what I thought, here are a few highlights, or things that stuck out to me:

1. Dennis sounds great, looks great, and the audience adores him.

2. Lame jokes were kept to a minimum, which was a bonus.

3. He seems much more relaxed and at peace with his life then he did a few years ago, and that made me feel good.

4. The quality of the sound in general, especially the orchestra, sucked eggs.

5. Suzanne looks ridiculous with that barbie hair do. Ridiculous.

6. Dawn Marie should not dance. Ever.

7. Eight songs were completely boring to me: Esmerelda, With Every Heartbeat, Who Will Love This Child, Babe, Lady, Don't Let it End, Desert Moon, Show me the way. I am either sick of these songs or think they just boring in general. HOWEVER, the rest of the show was splendid. Pieces of Eight rocked, as did Castle walls. Wish he didn't trade Queen of Spades for PO8. That kinda sucks.

8. I love that he told a Styx story and mentioned a couple bandmembers by name. Gave me a good feeling.

9. The stage was "busy" and hard to really see everything that was going on.

10. His guitar player has ZERO stage presence. He could have used midi files and saved some money.

11. When given the choice going alone or with a date you're not really sure about, GO ALONE. ;-)

There, happy?

Good review.

I love "Lady" and "Don't Let It End" and like "Desert Moon" so I can't agree with you on that, however, those other tunes I can do without.

He needs to stop doing the broadway stuff. Period.

I agree. If he would have stopped doing that stuff 10 years ago I think he would be on tour with Styx right now!

I don't think so... he broadway work in '98 may have worn him out and caused his illness... but it was pure personality clashes and egos that are the reason for him being out of the band.

Well, Zan either had translator microbes injected into her foot or a fish stuck in her ear...cuz your "way with words" is unintelligible to most people.

4. The quality of the sound in general, especially the orchestra, sucked eggs. :?: did you think the Orchestra was under or over utilized ? or did they just do a poor job of equalization for the house :?:

6. Dawn Marie should not dance. Ever.

8) Dawn Marie doesnt need to dance...just stand there with those looooong legs and sing

7. ...............Pieces of Eight rocked, as did Castle walls. Wish he didn't trade Queen of Spades for PO8. That kinda sucks.

He should put Q.O.S. in for any of the songs you woulda taken out !!!!

10. His guitar player has ZERO stage presence. He could have used midi files and saved some money. :?: What do you think of his playing :?:

I am saying that this thread has taken the inevitiable turn into the debate above...I am not making any specific comments about the debate.

They were right behind him. The mix was wrong...sometimes they overpowered him and sounded empty in general. The whole sound of the show sucked mix-wise, but the orchestra was weak.

6. Dawn Marie should not dance. Ever.

8) Dawn Marie doesnt need to dance...just stand there with those looooong legs and sing

Who could see her legs with those boobs falling out all over? LOL (and she DOES try to dance: That's the problem.)

My sentiments exactly. I can think of a few more that should be there instead too.

It was ok. Again, the guitar sound was drowned out as well for most of the show.

Hmmmm, ask them, I guess. Out of the forty-two people on this forum, one of them has to know the answer to this ultimate question.

Perhaps the one who knows the answer to the Ultimate Question is easily found. They would be the one with 'ZB' burned into their Cerebral Cortex.

Hmmm.... Zan just what is your last name anyway? :D

First off he does not even sing Esmerelda and With Every HB and those 2 songs are beautifull not STYX style but 2 great tunes
I agree with ya CS he should do all STYX from now on cut all his solo stuff.

The solo stuff isn't an issue, but cut hunchback - only die hards know that stuff. He could always add the 10 on broadway stuff because that has been pretty well received and would fit well with an orchestra.

methinks the ol' man's ego is a wee bit too big for sumthing like cutting
hunchbach m'terial out of his show........

I wouldnt bee holdin my breath waitin fer that to happen If I were you.......
