Would you go?

Just thinking.............

Would you go to a private Dennis concert that took place next year in the summer here in Milwaukee? How about if you could get a deal on motel room rates? It would be a free concert, by invitation only, you'll only receive 2 tickets (no kids).

1. Would you prefer to see this concert with the band & orchestra or with just the band.

2. Would you like to see this concert at an outdoor festival (or setting), a casino or a theatre?

3. Would you like to see it as a regular show or his "Lost Treasures" show?

4. Would you prefer to have the concert at 3:00 in the afternoon and then a meet & greet/dinner/questions & answers after the show or would you enjoy the concert in the evening?

Whatcha think? Would you travel up to Milwaukee to see this show?

Making my plane reservations now, just give me the date!!

I would love to see any/all of the above. I think I would prefer the band-only and the Lost Treasures stuff (with, of course, any NEW stuff or addional "lost" items from the Classic Styx catalog). BUT, I am not choosy!!!

Bugsy

Only if I can sit next to Froy.

Seriously, I might consider it if it's free. It would be a change of pace to meet some of the wackier people of Styxland. ;-)

With band, not orchestra. Lost treasures or shout-out request show. LOL

(I'll be waiting by my mailbox for my invitation - haha)

Are you KIDDING?!!!!!!!!! I'm so there, it's like I'm already there! Me? I'd prefer a band only show, but that's just because I've been to the orchestra show so much more than the band-only. And HOB is fresh in my mind and it totally ROCKED! I wouldn't mind seeing the Lost Treasures show again, but I'll take what I can get. I think I'd actually prefer the afternoon show, but NOT at the Northern Lights theater at Potawatomi Casino (way too tight), followed by dinner & Q&A session with DeYoung and his band. I'd probably take the hotel package; even if it's at one of the more expensive hotels, it'd probably be cheaper than paying for the tickets and a hotel like I normally do.

Just let me know when & where! "Oh, dear darlin' I'll be there"!

I like Zan's idea of a "shout out" show, but given the wealth of material, I doubt we'll ever see that. I remember seeing Michael W. Smith once & he took shout out requests during part of his show. He even commented on how dangerous it was for him to do so, given that his fans knew his discography better than he did. I'd imagine the same would be true for DeYoung.

But, there's not harm in dreaming, is there?

Wahhhh, I want to sit next to Froy, he's so much fun at a concert!!

Whoever is next to me would have to supply the tissues for the song "Lady", I cry and cry and cry during that song.

I think I would go the Lost Treasure's Show with just the band. BUT I do love hearing "Pieces of Eight" with the orchestra. Gosh, I LOVE that song live.

I would want this to be a very intimate concert with majority (98%LOL) of people that know his music and the music of Styx. That's why I'm leaning to a smaller venue, but it would have to be a great sound system.

I thought of the request shout out, I don't think it would work. His band hasn't played or practiced all the Styx songs. I think if we had a list together a few months ahead of time would work out great.

That brings me to the next question - would you want seats at this venue or standing room?

Well, prior to HOB, I'd 've said absolutely with seats, but....HOB was such an awesome experience with everyone physically into the show that I'd go for standing. 'Course I was pretty close to the stage, so I don't know how it was further back.

BTW, I'll bring the tissues. You'll be the one with red eyes, right?

Unless this impacts the setlist I wouldn't mind the Symphony. I imagine that would increase costs though.

SuiteMadameBlue wrote:2. Would you like to see this concert at an outdoor festival (or setting), a casino or a theatre?

Intimate Theater or Casino... I prefer indoor shows.

SuiteMadameBlue wrote:3. Would you like to see it as a regular show or his "Lost Treasures" show?

Lost Treasures by far

SuiteMadameBlue wrote:4. Would you prefer to have the concert at 3:00 in the afternoon and then a meet & greet/dinner/questions & answers after the show or would you enjoy the concert in the evening?

Definitely would like the meet n' greet/dinner/questions.

SuiteMadameBlue wrote:Whatcha think? Would you travel up to Milwaukee to see this show?

I definitely would think about it... it's a lot tougher for me to just pick up and go to shows like I used to... but since it's free and for a special enough occassion I would go out of my way to make it.

OHHHH, I completely missed the first part of this question. Without a doubt, I'd want an indoor setting. I've not had a lot of luck with outdoor shows featuring DeYoung. One of the 2 Styx shows I attended (either EOTC or RTP) was postponed due to flooding (both were held at the Riverbend Theater, right on the Ohio River). The Kettering show (2003?) ended right after intermission due to a thunderstorm (which of course completely cleared not 5 minutes after they decided to end the show!). So, give me an indoor venue, puh-leeze!

I'll be there, no question about it ! He can play whatever he wants to play...Lost Treasures would be awesome. Indoors would be cool, small, intimate would be ideal.

For the price, it can be whatever venue he wants !!

I prefer indoor, band only ,lost treasures, standing only, dinner before and parrrty after.
froy,I think this is pretty close to what you said.
I still don't know how far it is from Toronto to Milwaukie,I guess i will find out.

gr8dane, if this worked out I'd expect you to be there :) Actually most of you and then all of the people on the Dennis boards :)

The last time I went to Toronto, it took me about 13 hours. It was a really nice drive. I love Toronto :)

I would like chairs to sit on before the show and then when the concert is on, I want to stand :) I always want the best of both worlds 8)

Suite,

The next question would be what would you pay to go to an intimate concert that we as fans had some input into.

Then you would have to see what it would cost to Book Dennis and an appropriate venue for him to play.

I'd go with the dinner w/ meet & greets. But I would want Dennis and a piano perhaps at a bar and we could put bread in his jar as we asked him to play our favorites....

Would have to be a really good deal, since I'm over 18 hours away by car. But I would go, drop my kids off at parents house in Tennessee on the way up. Would need a few months notice to work around work. Would love to see a lost treasures show. Dinner before, then show and meet and greet. More peersonal setting, with no bad seats. Do you know something we don't? Since I can't get DDY in Biloxi, I would travel for a really good deal. REALLY GOOD DEAL-ERIC

When looking up the track listeing for the orchetra show cd on amazon.com, this was listed under sponsored links.

Dennis DeYoung -- Available for performances at clubs festivals & special events. -- www.primesourceproductions.com

thought it kinda tied in to this thread.

This is the link to the booking info on his site

There are several sites out there to book both Dennis and Styx for corporate gigs. Perhaps one here will convince their company to book him/them.

I saw KISS at the Qwest Center in Omaha in November 2003.... nice venue.. drove 15 hours...

That's where I did the meet n' greet thing for the first time.

Why Omaha? Long story.

Hey, we've got time to hear it. Even though I'm only 2 hours away, I've only seen one show there (VH last summer). There just hasn't been anyone else lately that I want to go see. (I had to pass on Cher and the Village People).

Ok... well the story is I decided to do the KISS Platinum Package for the first time. I'm a huge KISS fan... have been since I was 6 years old. The package gives you seats in the first couple rows, a meet n' greet experience and picture with the band in full make-up... all for the one-time low price of $1000 (Yes, I've got problems). A dream for a diehard fan.

Well, the show I originally picked on the Kiss/Aerosmith tour had been scheduled closer to home... at Virginia Beach in Sept of 2003... but wouldn't you know it Hurricane Isabel decided to hit the very day of the show. The real problem, however, was we had to drive nearly all the way down there because the venue (or band or whoever) refused to officially call the show ahead of time even though they'd been tracking this hurricane for over a week and everyone pretty much knew it was going to hit near showtime.

We ended up waiting until the last possible minute to drive down, but with still no cancellation in sight we headed down the night before TOWARDS ground zero as everyone else is driving the other direction... it was surreal. We ended up finding a hotel about 2 hours outside of VB after searching a few exits where every hotel was completely filled (on a Tuesday night!)

They ended up cancelling the show around 12pm the day of which I thought was incredibly irresponsible. No way in hell should they have waited that long. As it turns out the hurricane came ashore late that night/early morning 3-4 hours after the show would have ended. It would have been impossible to hold that show with the gale force winds that preceed the actual hurricane being rough. Keep in mind the Virginia Beach amphitheater is not far from the actual beach. They actually ended up using the VB Amphitheater as a sort of triage in the aftermath.

So, with that show cancelled the only possible show within driving distance left on the tour schedule was Omaha. I would have flown but my friend wasn't going to have the money for a flight so I ended up renting a nice car... picked her up in Toledo Ohio on the way (she lives in Detroit) and we drove all the way out there.

I happen to like taking trips to shows... I did 16 shows on the 1996/97 Kiss Reunion tour (including the reunion tour opener at Tiger Stadium) all up and own the East coast..

Short of the Tiger Stadium show which was probably the most magical concert experience I'll ever be part of, this Platinum experience was a close 2nd.

So fun that I did it again in 2004 in Detroit... but that's another story.
