Found this interesting tidbit in a DDY article

That Desert Moon was released in 1984, when CDs were still considered the cutting edge of recording technology, meant that only about five thousand copies were manufactured on the new CD format. Most albums at that time were still being pressed up as vinyl records.

I've seen original pressings of this CD sell for OUTRAGEOUS sums of money on e-bay......it is definately considered a collectors item.

I was fortunate enough to get two of them, but they were cutouts so the value is sentimental

I've got a friend who has an original pressing, not a cut out, AND it's signed! I was with her when she got DeYoung to sign it; it was about 2 years prior to the release of the remaster and he was very surprised to have it. A friend who knew how much she liked DeYoung's music picked it up at a "record" convention for less than the original cost. Someone didn't know what they had!
