Well I have come down from a great weekend and want to post some thoughts on 2 great Elton John concerts

Here is the setlist right from the stage list

The Weight of The World
Porch Swing In Tupelo
Answer In The Sky
Turn The Lights Out When You Leave
My Elusive Drug
They Call Her The Cat
Freaks In Love
All That Im Allowed
Bennie And The Jets
Daniel
Take Me To The Pilot
I Guess Thats Why They Call It The Blues
Tiny Dancer
Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word (EJ Solo)
Funeral For a Friend / Love Lies
Philly Freedom
Sad Songs
Levon
Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me
Im Still Standing
Bitch Is Back
Saturday
Your Song

It was great hearing the Peachtree Road songs for the very first time live.
All the songs from Peachtree Road were fantastic except My Elusive Drug.
It just did not do anything for me but the others were solid Elton/ Taupin songs.
If you do not have this cd and you are going to see Elton (which everyone should) do not buy it until after the show,
Its great to hear a new song for the first time live.
The highlite of these new songs were the chior of great singers he brought with him on tour.
They added a full harmony of sound that was fantastic.

The best part of these 2 days is that I caught a ticket release both times on the same day of the show,
Friday I picked up 2nd row dead center and Saturday first side section 4 rows up,
The sound quality of this show is top notch.
Elton's vocals are way up in the mix as is his piano.
That piano is crystal clear and you really can see how great of a piano player this guy is he really played hard both nights.

Of the 2 shows the second show Chicago was the better of the 2 and that is because of the greatest concert crowd in the US,
I have been to shows in many cities and the Chicago crowd is the best and Elton loved it and played much harder on Saturday,
Nothing against Milwaukee but the crowd was dead compared to Chicago,
There were people in the first row center sitting down during the times when they should have been rockin,
That did not stop me thats for sure,

Out of the Classics Funeral For A Friend and Don't Let The Sun Go Down On me Blew me away- total uplift .
The only disappointment Burn Down The Mission was not in the set,
That song needs to be added.
This is a must see show don't miss it. :) :D 8)

Call me crazy, but I think information about Elton John is inappropriate on a Styx board. I understand Froy may be passionate about Elton, but shall we ALL begin posting info about our personal faves HERE?

Shall I go into a long dissertation on Sly Stone or would it be better to save that for another board?

I don't see anything wrong with it. The thread was labelled, and Elton isn't exactly offensive material to be covering, even if he is a whiny diva. ;-)

Zan's right, Froy did title this thread. I was looking forward to the review. Thank you Froy, I'm glad you enjoyed the concerts!! I enjoy reading everyone's reviews of other bands too, well, except for the William Hung one - LOL

I ordered my tickets for Cheap Trick and we'll probably see the "hair bands" too. :)

Be sure to score a T-shirt, too.

Thanks, but I would need 2 tickets next to each other. I'm going to wait until the summer and see what happens. My husband isn't too crazy to go see him and one of my friends really, really, really wants to go. Maybe I can interview Sir Paul on my little local access cable show - LOL!!!!

:D

Classic,

LOL :)

I think I'd just talk about his solo career and bypass the Beatles music and what he's up to today. Actually I could call one of my friends a few minutes before the taping and quick prep me about the Beatles

does anyone remember the Saturday night live skit where Chris Farley "interviews" Paul McCartney ? I was trying to play off of that with
Suites interview..........I'm not a big Farley fan overall ( even though he's from my hometown ) but that skit was a Classic !!!

that and his audition for chipanddales with Patrick Swayze were his 2 best skits.
