FYI. This contains 4 DDY songs sung live. I have no idea if they were recorded that way for the movie soundtrack or if they are taken from another source.

Thanks. I'm glad the songs were included, and I'd bet these were the ones he filmed for the movie. (They say live...aren't I smart...don't answer that!).

Seriously, thanks.

I SAW that, LOL!!!!

What I wondered was, are they from his Live Music of Styx CD or the movie???????????

I would love for them to be new recordings. Might influence whether I buy it or not.

If I were a betting woman, I'd say they were recorded for the movie. I don't think they'd use the ones with the orchestra...but of course, I've been wrong before...rarely  , but wrong nonetheless.

Why would you be worried about Styx getting money from the sound track? I hope the movie and sound track do very well. It will only bring more people out to see Styx and to buy their new CD! It will also help Dennis.

Chi... you have to learn to ignore the bitter musings and rantings of people who are determined to live in their bitter past.

I care because guys who had nothing to do with the music won't be making money off of it. Duh.

If you believe only the "songwriter" brought the music to life and the other musicians in the band had nothing to do with it, then it says a lot...

I believe in the case of Styx, Dennis was the primary decision maker, primary creative force during their glory years and he made the songs largely what they were... at least the ones he wrote.

You guys call him a control freak who insisted everything had to be his way, but on the otherhand discount his influence on the music time and time again.

You guys can't have it both ways.

yes we can.

Just like you can believe Tommy and JY had nothing to do with the success of the songs.

From my own point of view, this worked until Kilroy Was Here. However, several fans seem to enjoy that album, and it DID sell well, so from other points of view, it continued to work. Tommy and JY seem to suggest that Grand Illusion and Pieces Of Eight were more collaborative albums than the ones that followed. I have no idea if there's any truth to that or not.

Yes we can. Just like you can believe Tommy and JY had nothing to do with the success of the songs.

True. We are all entitled to our own opinion.

Saying I'm wrong and proving I'm wrong are two different things.

Again, you cannot call him a control freak who insisted everything had to be his way, AND discount his influence on the music time and time again.

Nope. Nope. Nope.

The songs are from his double live cd, and for the movie & soundtrack they removed the orchestra. One of the main characters takes Hilary Duff to a Styx tribute band and that's when they'll be playing "Mr. Roboto" and since one of the scenes shown in the promo (commerical on tv) have lighters up at the concert and it's a romantic, I'm sure you'll be hearing "Babe" or maybe "Lady". Hmmm, I wonder which song?

I thought I saw somewhere that DeYoung's songs on the the soundtrack would include the orchestra--that they only ripped the orchestra parts out for inclusion in the movie?? Could be wrong, haven't had any caffiene this morning.

You're right Evil Eyes :)

LOL

Here's a post that posted on one of the Dennis sites by Hank Horton, (the bass player in Dennis' band):

To be accurate, the song tracks in the movie, are without
orchestra...since we are a bar band......but the tracks on the
SOUNTRACK CD(the same tunes), are with orchestra......just like the
dbl live DDY CD

I listened to the samples on Amazon and they are with the orchestra.
