I know it has been a long time but I'll never understand how people just accept that Tommy and JY just ran off without Dennis when He asked them to wait for him. I know they might be a good band now, and they are cuz I have seen them live several times, and I really like Cyclorama, but it just isn't Styx, sorry folks it never will be. You guys know they could of at least not used the name Styx. I wish they would of just called it quits after the Return to Paradise Tour and become a legend instead of giving in to their greed and just tossing Dennis out of the band. Now that they come to town every 2 months it's not special anymore. absense makes the heart grow fonder, indeed.

I know thats unorganized but I felt like saying it.

Sorry Not for me. To me it is still very much STYX. It's all about the music for me not about Dennis.

The topic is old...

If you don't like like the band, don't listen. Period.

I've seen Styx several times and each time they have kept the crowd rocking. Within 'hearing' distance there wasn't anyone around me that wasn't singing out loud to whatever song Styx was playing (be they young, middle aged or elderly). Their appeal to a diverse audience was more than obvious.

I doubt any one there cared less if DDY was there or not. "The song remained the same".....

Yup, here we go again. If you don't like Styx without Dennis then don't go see their shows. And if you have a couple of hours and read through th backlog of posts on here you will find the answer to your question pretty quickly.

They are a better lineup

Well John passed away and one still plays with the band. It was the Panozzo's band that Dennis became a member of.

One singer/song writer doesn't make a band, but we've been there before a million times.

True, and we would have Dennis as a solo artist or as a Broadway performer/producer.

And as Dennis has said a number of times, it was Suzane who made it possible for him to get out and perform after Equinox, because he really didn't want to do music anymore.

Now That's Funny. He said it, he continues to say it. Not using it against him. It is what it is and it's not even out of context.

In his interviews for Equinox and the 20th Anniversary of Equinox, HE AND JY spoke about how Dennis thought Progressive rock was dead, he wanted to take the band in a different direction and JY says he didn't want to go in that direction because he thought it would alienate their fans.

NO question that Dennis' had more of the songs that climbed the charts, but as i say now and continue to say, Dennis wasn't then or is he now a one man band. And I contend that if he stepped away from Styx in 75 or so like he said he wanted to, they would have replaced them then because the band had a record contract they had to forfill. True there would be no multiple platinum albums and the music we fight about today would never have exhisted, but I believe Dennis would have at some time come back to music and gone in the direction his heart appears to be in, that of broadway and the theatre. Hunchback would have had come earlier in his career and I am positive he would be more successful than he is today writing and producing stuff of that genre.

If you believe that any artist doesn't say what they mean and have rehearsed their lines prior to using them over and over so it becomes 'company' line, then you are fooling yourself.

If it weren't for Dennis DeYoung not one of us would be here because Styx would have ceased to exist a long long time ago and this board would have no purpose.

Seems to me Shaw would have been successful with or without Dennis or Styx. He would have ended up with another band.

JY probably would have been about as popular as he is now, but would heve gone to a harder rock band than what Styx at the time had to offer.
