Froy - LOL you're so positive. Just kidding. There's only one music group that I can think of that are still together for more than 20 years - U2 and they're still making new music.

Eric, I got in just fine. I noticed that they'll be playing by my area next month. I'm pretty curious to see what they sound like. I haven't seen them, well part of the band, since the 80's at a World Series of Rock concert.

When I saw the 'Foreigner' line-up, it made the Styx 6.0 line-up seem downright classic. Kelly Hanson as lead vocalist? But, I listened to the mp3's of him singing, and although no Lou Gramm, he's in the ballpark vocally. Still quite a stretch to even consider this as "Foreigner". Truthfully, I would have preferred they brought Johnny Edwards back instead if Mick was insisting on keeping the franchise alive.

The sad thing is there are Foreigner fans who will eat this stuff up.

As long as it says Foreigner on the marquee and they play the classic songs that's all they care about.

Sounds familiar, huh?

Groups change. Don't know anything about Foreigner's new vocalist. But I was a big fan of Johnny Edwards. He did a great job replacing Lou the first time. Have two incredible boots from their tour.-ERIC

I kind of see BOTH sides here.. On one hand I say, "Foreigner is done" and the other side of me says, yeah "but look what Journey did." What Foreigner is trying to do, Journey has had a hard time of doing..and I think Journey had a greater catalog to play from and more talent too. However, I applaud Mick for trying, and we should give the new singer some praise too.

Before all you Styx fans laugh at Foreigner, remember two things. 1) Styx had to overcome DDY's departure, and 2) When Journey got their new singer, and struggled, it was Styx who opened for Journey 2 years ago..so it can be done!

What has Journey done? Nothing whatsoever. They've released an album and a half of below average el-crapo.

No we shouldn't. The guy is being handed a gig... let him write a hit song before you heap praise on him... a la Augeri.

O really? And what do you suggest? Just hit the studio and pop out hits? I got news for you IML....Genre's have changed. Unless you are a rapper, or a hot blonde, you don't have hit songs.

As for the Journey/Styx?REO tour.. yeah, that was crap..#3 tour seller of the year.

We'll see if Journey's new CD can sell. If this doesn't sell, there is no hope for 80's rock bands.

How is it going to sell when they're giving it away?

I'm sure you'll count that as sales. Laughable.

They're not giving it away. Every fan that goes to their show is paying for it in addition to their ticket price. It's a perfect way to make a $35 seat cost $50. And if you don't want it, too bad.

Not what I really would call record sales. But they do.

This CD will become the best selling non-label cd of all time. If they do 5 shows a week with an average of 5,000 people they can say they sold 25,000 units. After enough shows, it will go platinum with not one albuym actually being paid for voluntarily.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Nothing like holding a gun to your fan's heads to FORCE them to take the new CD even though they really only wanna hear "Open Arms" for the gazillionth time.

COMPLETE JOKE.

Average 5,000 people? You are about 7,000 short. Verizon holds 17,000 and is going to be sold out.

Journey are not the only band to do this with their cd's. Prince did it a while back and got a number one album out of it.

It's a good marketing idea, and gives the concert goes something to take home after the show. I for one think this is a brilliant idea.

Nope and I see that the remnants of yes that are touring this summer are offering free cd's to early sales.

I'll eagerly take regular yearly tours and an album and a half of "below average el-crapo" from current Journey over ZERO tours and one reunion album of below average el-crapo dispersed over a decade from the aloof Perry.

Besides "Arrival" wasn't crap, it was a solid Journey album (not great, but good). Easily better than the two Journey releases that preceeded it.
And if the sound clips are any indication, "Generations" seems poised to become the very first modern classic Journey album since "Frontiers".

Keep raising the ire of both STYX AND Journey fans, IML, and soon u will have an inter-forum war on ur hands the likes of which the internet has never seen.

Leave it to the Nebraska State Fair to use an outdated press release

I noticed their write-up for Styx was a bit dated as well (mainly pushing Cyclorama with no mention of Big Bang).
