What if Dennis decided to tour as an opening act. Who should be the head liner that would compliment his music to increase his fanbase?
(this is a different question than What if ......1002)

How about Boston? I think they are working on a new CD. Bryan Adams would also be a good choice, IMO.

I guess I should have posted this here, oh, well...
Dennis opening for Peter Cetera may be interesting, but I doubt it is likely to happen. When was the last time Cetera toured?
Dennis could open for Tony Bennett...it seems to be the style where Dennis wants to head to anyway...I think it would an interesting combination.
Jimmy Buffet would be good too.
Or, Olivia Newton John.

I think it was said before, but I think he'd be a great opening act for Billy Joel. I think their music styles would mesh really well.

Bryan Adams and Billy Joel are great choices. I'm hoping to see Bryan Adams if he comes around here sometime soon. He has a lot of great variety of music. I checked out Billy Joel's site and he's not touring right now. Paul McCartney would be my choice, but I don't think he has anyone opening his shows.

Is someone getting Billy out of rehab long enough to do a tour?
I saw Billy and Elton for 5 shows at the beginning of their last tour together. The last was canceled for "health" reasons and rescheduled 6 months later. Billy is a great musician, last I heard he said he was writing again, but it's been more than ten years and I am tired of holding my breath for the next album.
Dennis would match up nicely with him, but Dennis shouldn't wait for him to get his act together.

Well Alan opened for Dennis once last year. I get the impression Alan doesn't do all that much touring himself, though I could be wrong. And Supertramp...I believe Roger Hodgson is on his own now, and there was talk of him doing a show with Dennis a while back....but I think he's mainly in Europe...or was.

I don't think I've ever heard that one. Was that a demo?
Um, Froy? "Wants to head" means "departing from his former style," which would include all the "rockin'" tunes you listed. All of which were written over 20 years ago. Starting in 1990, everything he's written has been either a ballad, soft jazz, or broadway-esque. But I've noticed "your" not alone in not recognizing the trend either.

Hi Sadie.
Roger is in Ontario in September. But these days I think he plays as a solo act.If he were to play with a band, maybe him and Dennis would be a good pairing.Parsons I think do tours every few years.

Oh, I see. So, by 'wants to head to' you seem to think about songs up to thirty years old. Talk about idiotic. That is not where Dennis is, and his 'recent' history (post-Edge) does not indicate to me that is where he wants to be.
I think he would be perfect opening to Tony Bennett.

How about Meat Loaf?
I guess I could possibly see Dennis as an opener for Joel, but Dennis' music is a lot more theatrical..
I know this is going to be looked at as a slam, but it really isn't: If you go strictly by the direction Dennis has gone in for the last 10+ years, why not Barry Manilow? I know Dennis rocks more than Manilow ever has, but come on, look at "10 On Broadway" and "Hunchback"; There are some similarities, and doing shows with Manilow would be good exposure for Dennis.

OMG - I would just die! (I love Barry Manilow) Seriously, I know Dennis gets teased about being like him all the time, but that would be one great show.

and evidently, Barry is a little strapped for cash these days.....He did some serious mismanagement of his funds, or got scammed by those he hired to take care of them...
I saw a preview clip on TV on this topic last week.

OK, that really pisses me off! LOL! I know the entertainment world is nothing more than one big illusion, but dammit, Barry is like the ambassador of goodwill and feel good fluff! I want to beat somebody down now!

On one level , I truly feel bad for him....no one deserves to be scammed by those they trust to take care of them.
On the other hand, this story has been repeated so many times by Artists and athletes that I find it hard to believe a guy like BM could let this happen.....
seems you almost HAVE to hire someone to audit your financial manager on a regular basis so you dont find yourself in this situation.

Why Zan, you old softie, you! I am a "fanilow" too. Barry really does just make you smile and he is an extraordinary entertainer.
I was not aware of his financial problems, but he had a big tour going that did well, I believe, and he has a Las Vegas deal that his bringing him plenty of funds.
One thing about Barry, though, is he really does not need another act on the bill with him. He does quite well on his own.

When we were in Vegas we couldn't get a ticket to see Barry, his shows are usually sold out. From what I read (which is usually 10% true anyway) that his shows are doing great. I have some friends that bought tickets to see him in October and they were hard to get.
His "financial woes" was for the song "I Write The Songs" which he co-wrote. It looks like he got all the rights to the song and now his songs can move on to Broadway soon.

That he does...do well on his own, and make me smile. He's on my list of ten people I'd most want to have dinner with.
Speaking of, maybe it's time for another one of my mindless threads...
