OT - "Classic" Bands & new music

"Classic" bands are touring a lot or bands before the 1990's. Have a lot of these bands put new music lately? I know Styx and Journey have. Do most of these bands just play their "classic" & radio hits and keep touring year after year? A lot of these bands or artist are coming to Summerfest or the county fairs in my area. I'm just curious.

Does John Fogerty have new music?

What about the Rolling Stones, anything new?

Does anybody know anything about these bands (or more)?

.38 Special
Kansas
Survivor
Loverboy
Night Ranger
Lou Gramm
Foreigner
Yes
Black Sabbath
Nazarath
UFO
Blue Oyster Cult
Huey Lewis & The News
Eagles or any member
Stevie Nicks
REO, I think they have a new cd

What about any of the "hair" bands touring, anything new?

The Rolling Stones play something new? I hope not  Remember that stupid assed song 3 years ago on their 40 licks tour? Neither can I.

REO is about to release a CD, as is Foreigner.

Dude, check the bands sites

The name of REO's new cd is called "The Brotherhood" late fall.
Survivor has been in the studio for years, but last I heard first of year.
Night Ranger first of year.
Lou Gramm is recording a Christian cd
Foreigner in studio, do not know of a time yet.

LOL, Sorry, but I'm not a dude, a dudette, but not a dude :)

I checked a couple of sites, but I figured most of the posters on here are fans of other bands and would know the information off the top of their heads. I'll try to check a few more over the weekend on the ones no one posts about.

Thanks Eric & Rock'ndeano :)

Blue Oyster Cult has always kept up a pretty regular release schedule, a new CD about every two years. The last two were quite good (the titles escape me right now) I really like the last one as much as any of the classic materal.

Steve Nicks will be in concert in the Tampa Bay area very soon (her concert has been advertised on the radio quite a bit the last several days).

As for Yes, I know that the lead singer did several christian based songs. (I apologize, I do not remember the gentleman's name, but he was the one who sang lead on Owner of the Lonely Hearts).

Foreigner is touring without Lou Gramm. Lou Gramm (sp?) was in the Tampa Bay area performing as a solo artist (obviously).

I know this is a little bit off topic, but my heart goes out to Luther Van Dross's family. I loved the man['s voice. May he rest in peace.

I think Night Ranger's new album is supposed to come out in like October, also they filmed a few shows in Japan at the end of last year, or the start of this one so they can try and get a DVD out. Also Kelly Keagy the drummer/vocalist is supposed to release his second solo album sometime this year. (The first one was awesome)

Have to agree, Kelly Keagy's first solo album was awesome.....far better than Jack Blades's in my opinion.

I move to Florida in 2 months so I hope to see alot of Night Ranger in concert.

...not trying to be a jerk here, but Jon Anderson has never done any "christian" recordings other than a guest spot on one song by 4Him (they were recording in the same studio and they asked him if he would like to sing on one song, and he agreed). Jon is a devout follower of a new-age "guru" called Divine Mother Audrey Kitagawa. Perhaps you are thinking of keyboardist Rick Wakeman who has done several Christian recordings?

Same here. I got the impression that he was doing a bit of experimenting with different sounds that perhaps he didn't think would fit well in the Night Ranger context.

Goddamn! When I saw Yes open for Journey 3 years ago, that was the WORST shit I have ever seen. Half of the crowd left! No shit! Poor Journey. They had to awaken the crowd just to listen. Yes blows..

Roadie...I stand corrected and apologize if I submitted any misinformation on this message board. Please forgive my ignorance.

I was at work one afternoon when one of my managers came in and asked me to quickly qet to his office. He knew I was a big classic rock fan and we had several conversations talking about certain artists. When I entered his office he was listening to a Christian radio station and asked me to listen to the song that was currently playing. As I listened I recognized the voice and merely answered:

YESSSSSSS....I know who the voice sounded like. Upon which he said I was correct - it was the singer from Yes. I wasn't sure how many he songs he recorded or if it was the one. Obviously I should have written my statement a little more thoroughly.

Back to lurk mode...

Ah the "hair bands"

Dokken is still touring and there is word of a "reunion" tour that will include George Lynch

Cinderella put out a new cd but it had to be released as a solo cd by the singer (Tom Keiffer) for some contract reason

Queensryche (if you considered them in that category) are still touring and are putting out Mindcrime II early next year

Motley Crue - doing or recently did a big tour and a best of with some new songs

White Lion is touring as Mike Tramp's White Lion or something like that. He's released new stuff

Quiot Riot are still around in some fashion I think. Not sure if there is anything new from them

Actually I really liked Jack's album too. But I'm into both modern and classic stuff so I really liked the changes of style that he pulled through the album.

Thanks for all the feedback again on this thread :) (Thanks too RocknDeano :D

I like Jack Blades music :) I have his son Colin's cd too, not bad. I wish it would've received airplay, it's a lot better than the music that's out there!!!

I hope there is a Dokken reunion. I really like George Lynch!! Cinderella is coming to town next month.

Darren, you're giving up rainy days for beautiful gorgeous weather in Florida???? Good luck with your move, hope you can make a road trip up to Wisconsin once your settled in :)

Suite-Jack's son Collin, does his music sound a lot like Jack/ Night Ranger, or does it take on a more new music sound?-ERIC
