With Dawn Marie "retiring" Dennis needs a new backup singer. Who do you think he should hire for the job ? It appears Tommy isnt a serious candidate, something about his day job and playing hockey on a river............so he's too busy. ( Dang ! )

So who else would do a good job ? have any of the "hired gun" backup singers for famous groups really tripped your trigger ? does it need to be a female ?

Here's one idea........and maybe she has a bigger solo career than I am aware of, but I truly enjoyed Paula Cole backing Peter Gabriel on his secret world tour...GREAT voice !!! ( easy on the eyes too :twisted:

)

What about the guy in Light Up, the Styx cover band out of Milwaukee.....he sounds a bit like Dennis, perhaps their voices would blend nicely ? Other ideas ?

I was going to make the suggestion of Barry Manilow, but that seems a bit cliche, doesn't it ?

on the other hand, Havent heard much from David Gates ( Bread ) lately, I wonder if he's looking for a gig ? :wink:

He does have a good voice, and I SERIOUSLY DOUBT he's strained it too much over the years

I've heard Zan sing. Definitely a beautiful voice, but if he did hire her, there'd be two Suzanne's....perhaps Zan should shoot for Burtnik.

Thanks, both of you. But...I don't go by Suzanne, except by my family and extreme close personal friends (and half of them call me Zan too). Also, Burtnik isn't hiring. LOL

Kinda funny to picture me singing with Dennis, tho. LOL

I bet you'd sound great harmonizing with Dennis.

And if the money is good enough, you can adopt a stage name.

When I heard that Dawn Marie was pregnant and "retiring" from touring with Dennis, I thought of Zan right away. She has the perfect voice and she knows all the songs!!

Zan, you do know all the songs right? Just kidding, I know you do.

Hey, if you were the back up singer, then you'd be up here in Milwaukee/Chicago a lot of times!!! You'd have your own MR fan club. How cool would that be?

Right now Amick will be in Milwaukee for the show, I'm not sure if he's going to sing back up too or if Dennis has someone else.

Well with all the crazy circumstances with Styx, no offense to anyone, but I wish that Tommy had a falling out with JY and JY kicked him out. I wish that Tommy and Dennis hooked up and put the past personal problems behind them. I wish that they would perform together as DeYoung & Shaw (or the other way around) with the Music of Styx and tour with Dennis' band. Hank is awesome with harmonizing on all the songs. It would be great to see/hear Dennis on the keyboards for a couple more songs and also still see him center stage with Tommy.

If this would happen (you know it could!!) here is my setlist for the concert :lol:

Don't wanna start the flame war, its just getting nice around here again.

But I wouldn't necessarily assume it is JY keeping Tommy away from Dennis. If Tommy wasn't happy with the way things are now, I am sure he would look for other avenues.

Now I've met Froy. And I've seen Dawn Marie enough times on that stage to know...well they may be about the same height, but I'm betting Froy would trip wearing the high heel shoes she wears. (Not even gonna think about the outfits themselves....I'll get you Classic for that mental image).

You're right, JY isn't holding him back, maybe just his contract or whatever they signed this time. I know Tommy is working on many other avenues. He has so many side projects, I don't know how he can think or sleep. I'm looking forward to Shaw/Blades new "cover" cd. They seem happy together.

styxmike, Taylor is really pretty and has a great voice too, I have to agree with you there, even though I'm female - LOL That would be interesting........
