When did you first hear.......

Postby RossUK » Sat Jul 23, 2005 8:13 pm

......that Dennis was no longer in Styx?

I remember sitting at a computer with one of my friends (a big aerosmith fan) and we were just surfing the web, and I thought 'Lets see what Styx are doing'

Logging on to Styxworld (nice homepage)

Cool intro of 'Everything Is Cool' (I like it)

News 'Autumn/Winter tour dates confirmed......' (Fantastic....)

The tour for this lineup will be.... (yep, all looks fine and......)

'Lawrence Gowan -Keyboards and Vocals & Glen Burtnik- bass guitar'

My friends immortal line: 'Where's Dennis gone?'

Buggered if I knew.

And so started my long journey of discovery to find what happened, and 6 years on I know alot more, but will never know everything......
Here in Styxworld life is good and everything is cool!!!!

Ross,

That was my experience EXACTLY! My next thought was is he going to be on Brave New World. When he was on the album and he did do the CMN concert, I figured maybe he was only going to take the tour off. Little did I know....

I dont exactly remember where I was , but I do remember my reaction
when I 1st heard LG singing Lady........

You know that feeling, and the face you made as a kid when your sleeve was rolled up to your shoulder, and you knew the Doctor was about to put that huge needle into your arm ???  :o

the feelings were remarkably similar........

I was surfing on line read what I thought to be a mistake. I was soon to discover it was no mistake.

And that's all I am saying about it.

I may have learned from the Behind the Music program, but it may have been earlier. I just know that I ALMOST went and saw what I thought was going to be Styx at the Houston rodeo and how upset I would have been had Dennis not been with them.

I didn't have a computer back in 1999. But the first time for me was July 1999 when I saw Carrot Styx in the cornfield. NO DENNIS!! I did feel terrible for Gowan when was getting booed, poor guy. I talked to Glen and one of the managers after the concert about it and they filled me in a little bit.
I still feel terrible about this whole mess, just terrible.

At work, didn't have my on computer at time. Checked at Paradisetheather.com (?) and read the note. I turned the computer off and whent home. Almost sold the tickets I had to see them a few weeks later. To me Dennis was Styx. Saw the show anyway and was blown away! Still Think Dennis is the Styx sound, but not Styx. Glad I gave them a try.-ERIC

I really don't remember. I do remember being aware that Dennis was not with them prior to seeing them in 1999.

It was right after I'd heard they were FINALLY coming to my town again--hadn't been here since Paradise Theater Tour. Called a friend to see if she was planning on going and she broke the news to me. At the time, I don't think we knew it was a permanent situation. She went; I didn't.
