Gosh, Darren, look at all those Gowan songs that made your top ten, including No. One! :P

Bugsy

(P.S. Least favorite might be interesting too!)

Very interesting indeed.....other than The Best Of Times, no songs post P.O.E.

Darren, how many songs total were nominated, but failed to make "the top 10" ??? or were we fairly unanimous ( I know we werent cus about 1/2 of my nominations werent included....)

39 songs were nominated including the top 10......

29 others included songs from the Wooden Nickle era (4) and (2) from Cyclorama and (2) from Brave New World.......

Too Much Time On My Hands and Lorelei scored a total of 2 and 3 points........Snowblind scored ZERO as did Babe.

These are songs classic Styx played in concert on numerous occasions and are obviously not as popular to die hard fans like us.....the band liked them more than the die hards........

Songs that the band never played like Castle Walls and Man In The Wilderness seem to have struck more of an accord.

What amazes me about the votes is that I was the only person to include Balarina and This Old Man in their top 10....

at numbers 5 and 8 respectively

2 awesome DDY songs

Darren, if you had asked for a top 20, both of those would have been included in mine........just not enuf room for them in the top 10.

I wonder which songs would "miss the cut" if you did a top 40 ?????

Thanks for keeping track of the top 10 Darren, this was fun :)

We're most of you thinking of me (Suite Madame Blue) when making your selections??????? LOL  Thanks

Darren, I hope you have time to have more surveys/polls :)

Great songs on the list :)

It's an interesting list, but then to pick 10 songs only makes it hard. Trying to decide against era, song style, singer,etc....definitely room to miss given their extensive catalog.

It would be interesting to see a top 10 worst list...even though that list would have some of the same problems as the best list.

Thanks for compiling it Darren.

There is an interesting phenomena going on here. It is not that the band likes these songs. They play the songs that get the best response in concert. The diehard fans here aren't the majority of the concert going public. Some of these songs that didn't get high ratings are not necessarily bad. But we - the diehards, are tired of hearing them, as opposed to songs like Castle Walls and Man in the Wilderness which are songs we don't normally get to hear.

When I saw the STYX tribute band "Light Up" earlier this month, they played "Castle Walls" and I think that song received one of the biggest applause and standing ovations of the night. A few of the non-STYX friends that were there with me, really enjoyed the song live too.

They also played "Man in The Wilderness" which sounded pretty damn good live!!! 8)

Or, perhaps, only a handful of people voted and it means absolutely nothing in the big picture of things.

You probably didn't vote. Those that voted had fun, you're not a fun person!!

I think he's fun sometimes. LOL

I have to admit, I was kinda shocked that they were MOST ALL DDY penned songs (and over-played songs too) that made the top ten. Even with this DeYoung-sensitive group here. ;-)

DDY is a great songwriter and singer, no one on here can argue that

Hey, Who's DeYoung-sensitive on this board???

I don't think anybody has any desire to.

The point is that it looks like less then 10 people voted on this...Sure, they may have had fun, but it means very little in the big picture of Styx.

Have all the fun you want with it. However, when someone takes it to mean it supports some 'fact' then I'll argue with them - cuz it doesn't support anything other then a few people like to have fun with polls on an internet forum.

And, most of the time, I'm a complete ass. :D

I just do what I do. I know some aren't gonna like it. Err, or, most won't like it. Err, or, hardly anybody does like it.

Bugsy - LOL

Hey you're up early this morning :)

Darren, we should have a separate poll of the worse songs. You did a good job with keeping track and the points. I'll pass a list to you if you're willing to keep track of it. I think it'll be obvious which songs that I pick and who they're sung by.

Um...NO ONE here, that's for sure! :::creeping down under her desk::: ;-)

I won't argue he was a great songwriter either, but I could argue that he is. ;-)

Took the words right out of my mouth, Zan. But my only basis for that is personal preference, so there's no real point in saying much more than that.

Well, I think that was the only basis for the original comment too. :-D

"No one can argue that..."

Hence, why I brought it up in the first place. ;-)

But thanks for agreeing with me - it happens so seldomly. LOL

And which Burtnik song?

Oh yeah, Burtnik. In a way it's kind of sad how he came and went. Why is his picture still on Styxworld site on the opening page?

"All In A Day's Work" is a GREAT song!!! Was that ever released as a single?

Did we ever post all the STYX singles that were released and the dates?

Well, as Zan would say, "All In a Day's Work" is a good song, but it's definitley not a great Styx song.

Ooooh, I love this song, so to me, it's a GREAT song. I enjoy listening to it over and over :)

So was "These Were The Times" the only JY song picked by someone?
