Styx keyboard player quits the band

Postby froy » Thu Aug 25, 2005 10:34 am

Lawerence Gowan short term fill in keyboard player of Styx has quit the band say insiders . He was seen running away from a venue with a Mr Roboto Mask on headed for the border. Larry was interviewed by The Imigration agents and was quoted as saying. I am sick and tired of trying to act like Dennis DeYoung for christ sakes I can't even sing.
The last show when we did the song saftey dance was the last straw
They wanted me to play the roll as Midget I said no way eh.
I don't even know what Come sail Away is aboot, I need a Molson dammit.
Ask what Larry will do he said he is going to join the band Kansas and take over for Steve Walsh. He figured he ruined 1 band he might as well not stop here. JY was quoted as saying Gowan will never play hockey with Styx again. And then was seen talking to himself. Tommy Shaw the other guy was comming out of the shower when we caught up with him and he told us this was the first shower he has taken in 2 months .
Then asked what city we were in, To us here at Yo Yo magazine it sure looks like this Styx band is all messed up .

Ya know, the sad thing isn't that Froy feels the need to post such crap, it's that people actualy think it's funny...after him saying it over and over and over again.

I can have fun with this too...But, I doubt it will be what people like you want...and more people will leave or post even less often..

Safety Dance

S-s-s-s A-a-a-a F-f-f-f E-e-e-e T-t-t-t Y-y-y-y
Safe, dance!

[Spoken]
We can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well they're no friends of mine
I say, we can go where we want to
A place where they will never find
And we can act like we come from out of this world
Leave the real one far behind
And we can dance

[Sung]
We can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well they're no friends of mine
I say, we can go where we want to
A place where they will never find
And we can act like we come from out of this world
Leave the real one far behind
And we can dance
Danc¨¦e!

We can go when we want to
The night is young and so am I
And we can dress real neat from our hats to our feet
And surprise 'em with the victory cry
Say, we can act if want to
If we don't nobody will
And you can act real rude and totally removed
And I can act like an imbecile

[Refrain]
I say, we can dance, we can dance
Everything out of control
We can dance, we can dance
We're doing it from wall to wall
We can dance, we can dance
Everybody look at your hands
We can dance, we can dance
Everybody takin' the cha-a-a-ance

Safety dance
Is it safe to dance
Is it safe to dance

S-s-s-s A-a-a-a F-f-f-f E-e-e-e T-t-t-t Y-y-y-y
Safe, dance!

We can dance if we want to
We've got all your life and mine
As long as we abuse it, never gonna lose it
Everything'll work out right
I say, we can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well they're no friends of mine

[Refrain]

Is it safe to dance, oh is it safe to dance [6x]
Is it safe to dance

Now picture JY dressed like he's King arthur
dragging Shaw the midget around the town .

No offense, but I really don't think you can have fun.

There are a ton of topics here for people to post on started by many people on this board. I don't see you starting many topics, just one about the BBT and you brought up Journey with it, then you had your story "Life, the Universe, and Styx" which I guess originally was about Journey and you just changed the name, then there was the topic titled "distractions" and you talk about Froy.

As I'm typing this 47 people looked at this topic within 2 hours, unless it's Froy and I reading every few minutes - LOL

People can read what they want to read and make comments if they feel like it. I don't think these funny stories will drive people away.

This board is the only STYX message boards that offers a variety of information for fans of old and new.

Monker, I hope you have a great night :)

OK, This board is about the good the bad and the ugly. And Froy you have your axe to grinde and the right to grinde it. Sure I think you are a shit but you aint going anywhere so peace bro. I am not sorry if I insulted you and you called it right. We all like to spin our stories. - Suite, you have a great attitutude and I bet you are a lot of fun to be around. A lot of the fun in posting here is that you can combine sincerity with an occasional over the top rant. - Promise to post my reviews of recent concerts but as I have many new thoughts and observations about the shows and a new through the eyes of my child perspective I want to give it the proper time and thought. - Froy my daughter thinks your an ass. She is way pro Gowan and anti DDY. Funny cause I we no longer agree but then again I,m 43 and she is 13.

Wait, I thought I read before your daughter was pro Dennis and not pro Gowan. Either way, I'm glad you had what I hope was a good experience with your daughter.

As for whether or not this is funny...meh, I think not. But then, perhaps that's because I am just tired of it six years down the road.

We do all have fun on here, Monker included (though his humor, like Froy's is an acquired taste).

Me, I'm just gonna go enjoy Dennis in Rockford next week, and wait for the reviews from those who went and saw whomever it is they went and saw.

If Gowan was to ever leave/quit/get fired from Styx I wonder who would replace him ?

It certainly would not be DDY............

Ide go for Dare's Darren Wharton but he is to awesome to be subjected to grief from this board........

I wonder under what scenario Dennis could work with the band again ? Both JY and Dennis could go on stage wearing Hannibal Lecter masks

Wait, I thought I read before your daughter was pro Dennis and not pro Gowan. Either way, I'm glad you had what I hope was a good experience with your daughter.

You are partially right, She had prefered that Gowan not do DDY songs but always thought DDY was the softer side of Styx. The last 2 concerts made a Gowan convert of her (particulary loved his "Don't need no Doctor" cover) and her thoughts as they should be are becomming much more independant of Dads. But being able to hang with a thirteen year old when it is less cool than than it should/coulld be at her age is why the Styx experience is the balls for me!

No, it wouldn't be Dennis, thank goodness. I could never see him touring again with STYX, no way. Just one night for a very special event. They would either find a person that could play the keyboard and sing or just find some hired keyboardist concert to concert and hire a singer. I'm sure they would go with someone younger, just to keep the STYX name going on and on. Also someone that could handle the never-ending tour and probably doesn't have a family to worry about. Todd's still young so he'd still be okay for touring within 20 years or so.

Ide go for Dare's Darren Wharton but he is to awesome to be subjected to grief from this board........

Nope, the next singer shouldn't have any problem, six years have already passed. I'm sure we'll still have fun with Jim and Tom. It's just the point how all this was handled in the first place over 6 years ago.

Not my point. If you are going to encourage the Styx vs. DeYoung argument here - then that is what you are going to get. I toned that talk way down but I guess that is what people want to talk about.

I don't see you starting many topics

So what.

just one about the BBT and you brought up Journey with it

Which was promptly destroyed by people going to this very argument. It is impossible to have a conversation about Styx here without the topic being drug to the sewer by DDY fans bringing up the same old tired arguments.

then you had your story "Life, the Universe, and Styx" which I guess originally was about Journey and you just changed the name

which you are completely wrong about. It was written for Styx. Several people Emailed me wanting a Journey version, so I did one...not that this has any bearing on anything anyway.

then there was the topic titled "distractions" and you talk about Froy.

And, IML. The point was to ignore their crap...But, it doesn't do anything when others not only don't ignore it - but encourage it.

As I'm typing this 47 people looked at this topic within 2 hours, unless it's Froy and I reading every few minutes - LOL

So what. Reading these type of posts is irrelevant. Encouraging the Styx insults and divisiveness is what shouldn't happen.

I don't think these funny stories will drive people away.

No, but the endless argument that results from it will. Hasn't that already been proven? Why encourage going another round?

This board is the only STYX message boards that offers a variety of information for fans of old and new.

There is absolutely NOTHING 'informative' about froy's post. Well, unless someone is new and didn't already know that froy is an ass and you are his biggest fan.
