Larry is now the majority Styx keyboard player. He has taken the stage more times as a member of Styx then Dennis has.

Don't let Monker read this, you're just starting trouble

Here we go again with Dennis vs. Gowan

(kidding)
Yes, he has taken the stage more than Dennis as a member of the band
STYX. It depends if you look at years vs. more times on the stage.
Hey, ChicagoSTYX, are you going to see Dennis next week in Rockford?

Hey ChicagoSTYX,
What's with your signature? "New Styx in 06" Is that confirmed or a rumor?
I thought I heard something about new Damn Yankees in 06 and new Styx in 07.

I'm not Chicago Styx, but I know the band is planning a new release for 2007.
As for Damn Yankees in 2006, I've heard that rumor. Would be interesting to see if that happens.

I read too that Carrot Styx is planning to release the new cd in 2007, I'm trying to find the interview.
Ted Nugent is planning to work on a new album starting in February, didn't say if it was solo or with Damn Yankees. I would put money on a Damn Yankees cd, Tommy is taking off, believe it or not and I'm sure they'll be together.
Look for a November 2006 release of a new Damn Yankees cd. I'll put money on it

Interesting indeed.......I wonder who actually took th time and made the effort to do the counting ?
AND
I wonder if that same person or group will let us know ( by my best guess in another 5-10 years ) when LG's Styx has played to as many PEOPLE as DDY's Styx did ?
Just a few random thoughts......

If you take into consideration he's only half the musician, 10% of the songwriter and 1% of the singer that Dennis is - he has a LONG way to go to be majority in shit. Thank you for calling. Have a really nice day.

Ok, Styx is doing two shows in my neighborhood in the next month and a half, so JY called me today to do a radio interview. I'd read this thread this morning, so I asked him some questions about this. He said, yes, a new studio album is next on the agenda, but wouldn't give a definete timeline. They are going to finish up the tour this fall and then worry about starting a new album. I asked about Tommy and Damn Yankees work and he said that Tommy likes to keep busy on his time off at home and has been doing some writing with Jack Blades "that may see the light of day next year", but that Styx has many dates and things planned well into next summer including a show at a Nascar race next July so anything related to DY would be quite a ways off in the future, but that Tommy doesn't rule out it happening in the future.
Oh and JY also said that they will be recording a Soundstage session next year to probably be seen next fall!!

Ask him how he feels about Dennis ... I've not had a good laugh in a while.

I'm sure he's aware of the malcontents on the internet already!

From someone who professes to be tired of the BS (you know, unsolicited digs, etc.), you sure you don't SOUND like you are right now.

I know... I'm feeling mischevious. I'm not really trying to be contributing to the BS as much as I'm just trying to be overly sarcastic and a clown. Think of me as Monker light.... even though that kinda scares me
Only thing I said semi-seriously was my whole percentages thing above.
Kinda like saying "Well I've worked for Microsoft for 20 years, so I'm half as good as Bill Gates".... doesn't compute in my (admittedly simple and limited) world.

Having a little bit of Monker in you is better then none at all!

Nothing can take away from Dennis' history with the band. Nothing. No matter how many shows Gowan performs with Styx, to how many people, in how many years, or how many albums are sold, or how much time he spends getting radio play. It doesn't matter...it will not change history.
It is very telling how some Dennis fans react towards facts such as this thread presents. It's as if you feel that if you can't quantify Dennis being on top in some way that his legacy with Styx will be erased...the easiest way to do that is to put Gowan down.
The fact that Styx has survived so long without Dennis has driven a few of you a bit loopy.
As for Styx or DY next year. I don't care, give me either. I'll lap up the bathwater of either band.

Well, using that logic, we can also throw in that Gowan is twice the showman Dennis is, 3 times the keyboardist, and ten times better looking. So what he doesn't equal in "singing and songwriting," (which IMO, is perfectly fine and good) he compensates for in everything else.
And no one here can argue that!
(And Bill Gates is a schmuck)

Something tells me that's not necessarily true.
(Or we could also say that a little Monker in you is the most you'll ever get?) OK, maybe I should stop now. LOL

well...I wouldn't say arguing...
however, as has been oh so cleverly pointed out...
perceptions can be argued. Opinions can be argued.
Me, I think Dennis is a better showman than Larry....oh wait...am I arguing
I think Dennis is/was the better looking....oh wait, I'm arguing.
Semantics on words aside...
each man will leave his mark on the band. What history remembers won't really matter to us, since we'll long be gone. I could make a guess, but it would change nothing here.
It's interesting that someone felt the need to start the thread in the first place....

that Gowan is twice the showman Dennis is,
I guess a monkey swinging around a pole is also a better "showman" than Dennis.
3 times the keyboardist
Uhhh.....no comment.
and ten times better looking
Yikes! Zan! Time for a trip to the eye doctor for you!!!
OK. I realize everything you said is your opinion. And I have mine.
Other than that both Dennis and Gowan were/are keyboardists in the group Styx, I find comparing them in any way is useless. They are far too different in my book.
I guess I am "arguing that" after all
