The band was tight, the sound where I was sitting sounded great
The crowd was the Worst I have ever seen
I will never go to Rockford again to see a show
I got yelled at for standing during Rockin The Paradise that should tell ya how unmotivated the crowd was.
Great to meet Classic and DJ from the board as well as all the other
MR' ers, It was a perfect night to see a show,
It was great to not hear First Time thank god,
It was not great to not hear Borrowed Time and Queen of Spades
Dennis is stuck on Show Me The way accapella which is really a terrible rendition of that song. Maybe I have seen it too many times.

BTW DJ the actor you look like is

First, it was an honor to meet DeeJay (& your friends and family) and Classic (& Mrs. Classic) in person- GREAT guys!! I hope to meet up again at concerts or any other event. Really nice guys!! Sadie and Bugsy it was great to get together again at another concert. Too bad we weren't all together. I'm glad we took a group picture

I agree Froy, where we were sitting, Dennis sounded GREAT!!

I couldn't believe the crowd, I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone last night. I can't believe that Froy of all people got yelled to sit down - LOL Unbelievable!! Dennis did get a couple standing ovations after a few songs and the people were clapping after the songs, but during the songs they just sat there.

I thought John Waite was great and it was a real treat when Rick Nielsen from Cheap Trick came out and played on a few Baby's songs.

I think I'm pretty much Dennis-ed and Carrot Styx-ed out for the next 6 months.

I very much enjoyed meeting Classic, Mrs. Classic, DeeJay and his family, as well as seeing all previously mentioned.

As for the show, I think it's a safe bet that all from this board, including myself were not pleased that the show was not what was advertised. It was a great show, however, it was not a Lost Treasures show. From where I was at, the drums were a bit too loud.

Dennis was extremely good, and Tommy Dziallo's guitar work was incredible.

I sat with Bugsy and had a great time watching two boys in different rows that were roughly between 6 and 9 years old just singing their hearts out to all the songs. These boys knew all the words. Everyone around us and them was totally charmed by the pair.

The crowd by us was very enthusiastic and into the music. I did not get a sense that they were disappointed.

Dennis dedicated SMTW and Hello God to those affected by Katrina and received a standing ovation for SMTW.

After the show it was really great to see the line of people looking for Tommy's autograph and Kyle making sure all the kids got drumsticks. I sincerely do think both camps treat children very very well at their shows.

I will say that I think it would be in Dennis' best interest to get some new material and input the change in set list sooner than later.

All in all, a very nice show (and mercifully no First Time). Thanks guys for the great conversation and humor as always.

My turn to weigh in.......highlights of the evening for me were....

Meeting many of my fellow posters......( was a litte dissapointed MONKER didn't make the trip tho ! ) It's really cool to put a face and mannerisms in place to go with the musings I get to read here.

Best Thing, Hello God and Pieces of Eight were the 3 songs that were "new to me" and may favorite musical portions of the evening.

All due respect to Suite, but I for one was gald he subbed Hello God for First Time.

Other observations from the centetr of the 15th row........

The sound was mixed a little heavy towards the higher frequencies, coulda tweaked a few of the levers on the sound aboard and added a touch more bass, less treble. Not terrible, but less than ideal IMO.

I may have been the only one to notice, but DDY was a little flat on a note here and there in a few of the songs....overall he was in good voice though.

If Tommy D had some stage presence to go along with his playing abilities
he could have made a HUGE mark in the Rock and Roll landscape...that guy can flat out play !

Bugsy, reporting in from Texas. I actually had a great flight out of O'Hare and down to Austin. Smooth and on time.

How cool to put faces with the screen names! I so enjoyed meeting all our buddies here, Classic, Mrs. Classic, Deejay and friend.

Good to see Froy and Suite again, and Sadie was more than kind to me and was a great concert partner.

My take on the concert: I enjoyed Dennis' being very loose and free, the way I perceived it, at this one. He moved around the stage a lot and did a lot of really funny voices. Did a dead-on Liverpool accent, quoting lines from "Hard Days Night."

He seemed to have very much of a I-am-not-going-to-worry-about-this attitude.

The show is always tight, to me. So he did not get sloppy, just seemed to have a more casual approach to go with his very casual attire.

I, too, was disappointed that he did not perform the second and third songs I really wanted to hear (Best Thing was number one, and it smoked!) -- Queen of Spades and Borrowed Time. I so wanted to hear those again.

I think I stood up and did a little dance of joy that Hello God replaced First Time. But just for a sec.... did not want to be disrespectful!

His voice was a little rough on Suite Madame Blue, in parts, but it sounded very good overall. All the songs did to me.

As Sadie said, the crowd around us had a very good time from what I could tell.

Hold-Up-Albums Guy was there, but he only seemed to be holding up Equinox. Whatzupwiththat????

Again. Great to meet everyone! Hope we can all do it again in the future.

First, I would like to say that it was a real pleasure to meet Suite, Classic (and Mrs. Classic), Sadie, Froy, And Bugsy...I had a great time talking to all of you (and even at times laughing together) and I am reassured of the fact that I always knew from this forum that you are wonderful people...My hats off to you and God Bless You....I hope we can do it again sometime...

I had front row seats, but they were not that good because we couldn't see the whole band because of the speakers in front of us...We could see Dennis at a angle, his wife, his new singer(Dawn Marie's Replacement), and (on occasion) Hank and Tom when they move toward the front of the stage....

John Waite Started and he was pretty good...I noticed a bug flew into his mouth attracked by the lighting during one of his songs with Rick Nielsen on stage....

Dennis Sounded Good as usual....Best Thing was Good, Pieces of Eight (for me) was the highlight of the show....It was good to hear Castle Walls without the Orchestra(The lighting was cool)...And yes, I detected a couple of flat spots in Dennis's Voice (It was during either Rockin' The Paradise or The Best Of Times)...I was disappointed that Queen Of Spades and Borrowed Time wasn't played...I didn't think Dennis would have performed Hello God since he perform it already at the Coronado Theatre back in January of 2004...I also notice that Dennis was also having problems with the insect population as he swatted one on his neck....

Dennis was his witty self as always...He motioned the crowd to sing the last part of Babe (Ooh Hoo Hoo Babe) and then he said "Now That's Why I'm Paid The Big Bucks"...He also did the "At Home I'm An AssHole" skit again...I wish he would drop that just because I think it's a little over done....
The sound during Dennis's music was a little base heavy, but I think that was because we were in front of the right side speakers...

Froy, I'm sorry to hear that you had a problem with some of the people... I know what you mean by how unmotivated the crowd was, well at least some of them... The three people next to me to my left made absolutely no noise whatsoever the whole night...No clapping, no singing, nothing....I think a couple of Cement blocks could have gave a better reaction (Those Damn Deadheads)....Some of the people were having a good time, singing, cheering, and a lady two rows behind us was screaming (I actually got a kick out of it).....

I noticed that Dennis condensed some of his schtick. The "a**hole at home" was shortened considerably.

The moths were problematic all night for both John Waite and Dennis. And during Desert Moon one flew into Dennis' mouth.

I think there were moments when Dennis wasn't totally on top of his game vocally speaking, but I also think he was a little frustrated at the crowd. Perhaps Monker really was there

I am one who will stand up and shout with the best of them, but when I see Dennis, I want to hear the singer and the music. I think a lot of people go to his concerts to hear (and see) him and enjoy the songs.

I may be wrong, but that is my take on it. Everyone around me knew the words to every single song and sang along with pretty darn happy looks on their faces.

Other than the common factor of some shared Styx songs, a Dennis DeYoung show is not a Styx show and vice versa.

MY take (mine only) is people are there for the artist, the art and the voice with Dennis. No so much for the party.

That said, I do think Dennis would like, sometimes, a little more feedback from the crowd during some songs.

I know for a fact these aren't in order - Bugsy has the set list from the stage. This is from the Milwaukee concert, I added Best Thing & Hello God and took out the others.

As said many times before, I'm thankful that we are able to enjoy both the talents of DDY and the remnants of Styx in a concert setting. Neither may be as terrific on their own as they once were collectively, but are still worth the time and money to go see, IMO. I still contend that DDY and Styx would make a great dysfunctional double bill. In a bizarre way, it might even bring together some of the original fan base. Maybe. I'd like to think that fans in one camp would stick around for the other's set. Maybe not.

No seriously, I am just glad I have been given the opportunity to see him, and I don't begrudge anyone the right to enjoy in whatever fashion they choose. I'm just not a rowdy concert goer. It was a good show, just not exactly what I had expected. Nothing wrong with it that I couldn't accept.

I'd pay almost anything to see a concert. I missed out when I was younger from being grounded - LOL I'm trying to make up for the time I lost. It's not going to be the same and the ticket prices aren't the same (LOL) but I still love to hear the music that I grew up with.

By the way, I'm sure one or two from one of the "camps" have seen the others perform
