I found myself looking at Dennis' site and noticed he had a new letter up. It's nice to know that he was asked to participate in something very worthwhile. Take a look.

And I love the working titles to the new material.

Thanks for posting the information Sadie :)

Hey Everybody,
These photos are from an event I performed at in Chicago's Arie Crown Theatre last Saturday night. It was a benefit for the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation, a very worthy cause. Actor and former police officer Dennis Farina and comedian Tom Dreesen spearheaded the event with help from several of us from the Chicago sports and entertainment community.

To name a few: Gary Sinise, Vince Vaughn, George Wendt, Joe Mantegna, Robin Tunney, Larry Minetti, Peter Cetera, William Petersen, Mike Ditka, Jim MacMahon, Jimbo Covert, Matt Suhey,Shaun Gayle, Steve McMichael, Leslie Frazier, and last but not least Greg Maddox who informed me that growing up in Las Vegas he was a Styx fan. I'm waiting for that group photo to arrive, and when it does I'll post it.
At present I've begun work on a new CD that I'Il hopefully finish by the end of the year.(Though which year I'm not completely sure.) The songs deal with topics such as sailing away, to robots, to really big illusions to...hey wait a minute somethin fishy here. Truthfully this collections of songs are the greatest I have ever written in my entire life. (Which is musician code for, they don't suck as much as I thought they might.) Some working titles are, Hey Juice, Stairway to Hefner, Sweet Home Alla snackbar, and A Whole Lotta Luft, a song about Liza Minelli's sister. Many of you are now wondering why you took time out of your busy lives to read this, sorry I have no answer for you. Seriously the actual song titles have been hermetically sealed in a vault in Berwyn Ill. and will be posted just as soon as I'm sure they will not embarass my friends and family.

JINX Sadie - LOL

We posted at the same time. I have a list of about 5-7 song titles, I'm sure he's not going to change the names that he mentioned

I personally am ready for "Whole Lotta Luft" myself. 8)

I am also waiting for the pic of Dennis and William Petersen, two of my favorite men in the world.

Yeah, I was glad he said that.

However, Shaw's hurricane comments included a link to the Red Cross which is still on the Styx site.
That's nothing against DDY. Just something for all the anti-Shaw people to think about.

It's something I've noticed about Styx under Shaw's tenure. Unlike when DDY led Styx, they've continually used part of their web space to direct fans to various charities and to comment on the passing of various icons (like Johnny Carson, Ray Charles and Ronald Reagan to name a few). Does this make Shaw a saint? Not at all. But I think it's worth noting to those who demonize him and lionize DY. Rant over.

Back to DDY

I do hope he's serious about a new CD coming out. Such a thing is LONG overdue from his camp! I'm also curious as to what direction the new CD will go; given the current format of his live shows. Should be very interesting!

There's very few anti-Shaw people here...perhaps some anti-JY (a small joke).

I've always taken Dennis to be a more private person who keeps his views on many events to himself. And I've always thought of Tommy as the more outgoing of the 2. He is more willing to express his opinions. And that's a good thing for him.

And again, I go back to the idea that Dennis would most likely view talking about other events as not something he is comfortable with. I'd bet he would think the band should stick with the band in what they publicly discuss on the internet. Does not make it a good or bad decision. Just a difference in personalities between the two.

For me, I've kind of grown a little weary of Tommy's notes. Not that I don't see the humor, intelligence, or message, but sometimes I'd rather not know. Again, MY opinion only. I can see how others would like his notes.

Peace

I hope the songs are more Quen Of Spades, PO8, SMB and Come Sail Away rather than Paradise, Hiphop and First & Music Time

Darren says:

From the song titles, he has a LOT of varitey in songs. I'd put money that there will be 2-3 songs that are similar to maybe "First Time" or ballad type. That's what I LOVE about the music of STYX, the variety of music on each album/cd.
