Carrot Styx - more venting

Postby SuiteMadameBlue » Tue Sep 27, 2005 11:07 pm

Yes, I'm venting, that's why I was put on this planet - LOL

Okay "they" booted Dennis out 6 years ago. Carrot Styx made 2 new albums, their best ever!!

I just read MORE than several recent articles on Carrot Styx and their upcoming concerts. Each of them mention either or all these songs in their little articles. I thought THEY wanted to move on. Don't you think that their publicist or management would promote more of their new crap and try to get away from these songs? They can have control on how they want the little blurb of their upcoming shows written. In fact, I know they can. Oh, that's right, these are a few of the ONLY songs that the casual fan would recognize. Not good enough.

Babe and Lady from Styx

including songs Mr. Roboto, Lady and Babe

I feel better now after the little vent - LOL

Get used to it. Journey has the same problem. Every article about Journey has to mention Perry. I asked once how STYX got away from DDY always being mentioned, but it appears it's "his songs" that get mentioned instead.

I think we're all "used to it". Dennis gets named quite often to Styx, and Styx gets mentioned quite often to Dennis in their various interviews.

As for songs being listed, well, I tend to think most journalists do a cursory review of the subject, and don't go too far below the surface. Since the songs that Dennis wrote/performed were the ones that became hits on the radio, it's easy to use them as a reference point. Doesn't make the other material bad by a long shot. And I'd bet the band is a little annoyed by the reminder as well.

And so it goes

This board is therapy for me - LOL

I'm just in a Carrot Styx crab mood today  That's what happens when you start hearing more and more of what "really" happened FROM "both" sides.

No doubt about it, late next summer DeYoung & Shaw, one concert!!

If Dennis and Tommy got together for some shows couldnt they use the name Styx??

Dennis hinted in a Florida radio interview that the reason Tommy, JY and Chuck get to use the name is because they signed a contract that basically said ' majority rules' in regards as to who gets to use the name Styx.

Another idea could be a double Styx bill.

Opening Act : Styx: JY, Chuck, Gowan, Ricky & Todds drum loops

Headline Act : Styx : Tommy, Dennis, Glen & Todd

Since Froy would want it what the hell lets let Gowan play for both bands!!

Bummer, I was hoping you'd be there. It's just one concert, that's all!! It's a different situation between Dennis and Tommy then JY and Dennis and even JY and Tommy. Really!!

Nope!! Only if JY was included, and he won't be - nada. From what I "heard" he has the majority of the name Styx. He's the head honcho in the group.

Since Froy would want it what the hell lets let Gowan play for both bands!!

Egad, please don't get Froy started on Gowan, please, please, please, not today. I'll do anything!!! There's only so much I can take - LOL

It seemed like every where Froy was or turned there was Gowan - LOL

So how about a set list from Rogers shows??

I cant reveal my source but I know this wasnt Froys first time north of the border to catch a concert.

I heard Froy headed that way back in 96' or 97' to catch a Styx show.

Opening up for Styx then was a guy by the name of Lawerence Gowan. His show captured the audience.

Froy was heard uttering' this guy could be in Styx he is sooooo damn good.

Careful what you wish for my friend!!!!!!!!

Maybe Styx will kick out Larry and be the next group to be on Rockstar:STYX searching for a new lead singer on TV next year. Question is would Dennis be right for this band?

I'm sure that they will not kick Larry out, seriously. BUT, wow, wouldn't that be something if that would happen.

Would Dennis be right for this band? I'd say in 2006 no, especially with the direction they want to go, more of a "rockin'" band. With the Rockstar projects, the bands/producers are looking for kids in their 20's and early 30's to keep the band going in years to come, just my opinion.

I thought the latest "rumor" was Van Halen was the band. Of course next week that rumor will change again.

NH, very interesting question that you brought up :)

Perhaps they may be looking for a Tommy replacement next time. This might work on Rock Star Styx! Lots of young guys and girls, vying for the Tommy spot!! Maybe Mig can dye his hair blonde and return to try yet again. But, then, he was rejected by INXS for being too "broadway" so probably not.:P

Thing is....will Dave Navarro be on hand yet again to sit in with the band and offer lame commentary?

I think compared to American Idol, the show was much better. I think Navarro is much more of a personality than anyone in INXS, that's for damn sure. As for talent, some of those guys could sing better than a lot of the "top" artists of today.

But "Rock Star STYX" would keep with the four letter "X" word theme...

I was going to respond to this comment, but thought I'd behave today. I'm going to make it be nice to Carrot Styx Day, or I mean the Current Line-Up of Styx Day today (for me).

I'm hoping to stay positive today and not make any smart ass remark or downgrade the current line up, today.

Everything is Cool today!!

I hope everyone on the board has a GREAT day today!! :)
