OK this is a self assessment thread........If you cae to play along, here is the jist of the thread. You get to rate your level of fandom for ( carrot )Styx and for Dennis De Young's as a solo act. The Levels:

10. Can do absolutely no wrong, the best music being made on the planet today !!

9. Maybe not the best ever, but my Favorite artist thats out there today

8. I really like this group/artist alot.

7. Artist/Group is pretty good.

6. I kind of like them/him

5. I can take them or leave them/him

4. I suppose I can see why others like their/his music, its just not for me

3. I dont really know why other people like that music

2. I'm amazed anyone pays to see/hear THAT

1. Please pass the earplugs

0. What a worthless poor excuse for Music that is !!!!

I rate Both Dennis and Styx in the 7-8 range...Classic Styx was a
a 9.5 in their day. anyone else want to weigh in ?

I will take a shot classic:

Classic Styx - I agree totally on your assessment, in fact around Paradise Theater, I would give them a 10.

Dennis Deyoung - 8

Carrot Styx - began as an 8 for me around 1999 when I first saw the tour, but I was not impressed with Cyclorama, I got burned out on their consistent touring and mulitple live releases and do not intend to buy their big bang theory CD. But most of all, JY's repetitive negative and hypocritical comments of DDY completely turned me away from this band. Glen Burtnik's leaving was no help. They have slipped to 5 on your scale for me. I won't go lower, cuz I am still a huge Tommy Shaw fan....musically.

No, we don't need to leave it alone. Maybe some of the "newbies" can weigh in here with their viewpoints.

It would be nice if this board would pick up a little bit. LOL 8)

OK, so I am an oldbie.

I give any form of Styx with Dennis 9 to 9.5. No one could hope to achieve the perfection of your 10, Classic.

CarrotStyx - Harmonies only - 5. Musical talent - 4. Anything Gowan sings - 0-1

RickyStyx - Same as CarrotStyx

Dennis - 9

Bugsy may be an "Oldbie " .... but she's a goodie !

And yes, I was hoping some who's hearts werent already on their sleeves would weight in here. Though i admit that even tho I knew the jist of what was coming, I was interested in how Froy would answer.

Now, Where's Monker and Adam ? ( After all Froy DID answer , Adam.... yo are late to your curtain call ! :D )

Classic Styx-9.5
'90's styx-7.5 on average
glen/larry styx 5.0-7
ricky styx 6.0-(9 for larry, 6 for tommy, 3 for JY)
dennis in the '80s 8.5
dennis in the '90's 7.5
dennis in the 00's pleading the fifth

which way is the elevator going?

Tommy-stalled
Larry-going way up
Glen-see tommy

Tommy's elevator has jumped the cable to allow him to take on outside projects

Larry- perhaps the elevator rose too quickly, that would explain the hearing problem you have Scott  I'm kidding

Glenn- the elevator I think needs some repairs, though it's certainly capable of rising again

Dennis- love him though I do, I think the elevator might be in need of a jump start

JY- his elevator rose to the top, then did a rapid descent...though it did so reluctantly

Which way is the elevator going???? Excellent addition to the question!!

Tommy - stalled but may move slightly forward
Glen - See Tommy, but he should be moving up REAL fast- needs better management
JY - Stalled and going down pretty fast
Ricky - who's Ricky????
Dennis - stalled, and is in the same state as most orchestras in America
Larry - Going WAY WAY UP!!!!!!!!

I agree with Scott almost 100%

Hmmmmm…., Scott, that is an interesting measurement. A “sliding” scale maybe??

OK, I'll take a ride:

JY and Tommy – On the same stalled elevator but I sense Tommy might like to get off. Getting a bit stale and stuffy in there.

Glen – Not interested in even riding one, it seems, but might like a ride on one that was going up, if were leading to something he found interesting when he got off.

Todd – Could hop on any elevator and it would automatically give him a nice ride to the top, or at least the mid-level floors.

Gowan - Probably could ride nicely upwards -- in Canada.

Ricky – Wants on ANY elevator. Please!!

Dennis – Using the stairs apparently. Sort of slow progress but seems to be going up a little at a time. He has seen where the elevator takes him -- both directions. :)

Yogi,

You are obviously a man of great taste. A man of distinction, culture and refinement. I like the cut of your jib sir. 8)

Bugsy,

I sure do wear alot of hats at the LGFC. Well if you're gonna be a bear, be a grizzly! :P

Sadie,

Perhaps I should go for that hearing test. I've noticed that is a common recommendation lately when I post. :D

Classic,

Very morbid take my friend. The Reluctant Legend has mentioned that if you play Snowblind backwards, it gives you the combination to the elevator operators restroom.
