The Grand Delusion

Hi:

I apologize for having to post this as a new topic again, for some reason the board will not let me post replies but will let me start a new topic. What's up with that?!

I sincerely don't know about another Styx bio, but it's possible, or it's possible that they somehow mistook mine. Ioannis gave me an interview, so perhaps they are confused. Who knows? Maybe he is involved with another book that I don't know about. He and I did speak briefly about him maybe doing my cover, but someone else came up with something I am really happy with instead.

I self-published another book called UNSUNG HEROES OF ROCK GUITAR a couple of years ago, but it was a simple straightforward collection of Q&A interviews, nothing as elaborate as an in-depth bio, which as you pointed out is a monster project. I mean, you're looking at 40 years' worth of material here, much of it divisive, and quite a number of people don't want to talk, either, which is too bad. So it becomes a matter of hunting down alternative sources for some vital information.

As to the whole DDY/Gowan thing, I obviously have to address that in a way that plays no favorites, but at the same time it is the cold hard truth that the career of the current band (and Dennis as a solo act) is made possible by the years the classic lineup spent building the fan base. What I'm saying is, if not for the Dennis years there would be no broad market for the current band OR a book about Styx, so I write about the Gowan era as completely as, say, the Wooden Nickel years, but the main thrust of the book is the classic years and the lineup w/DDY because that is what brought most people to the table and what the average fan wants to know about. I cover both the Wooden Nickel era and the Gowan era far better than BTM did, but certainly not with the same depth as THE GRAND ILLUSION era, for instance.

Yes, I am a Styx fan.

Thanks for your well wishes, I really think you're going to be amazed what a great story there is in Styx that has never been told before.

Rockwriter, are you hitting post a reply and then typing in your pass word...If so, don't do that....Go to log in at the top of the page, type in your username and password, and check the box to log in each visit...You should see at the bottom of the Styx page that you can post a reply, start a new topic, and so on...When you are done posting, make sure you log out...
