I tuned into the energy of the universe and everything went better than expected. A couple months ago, I bought tickets to see Dennis DeYoung in West Palm Beach for October 29th with the notion that I'd take Paul and my daughter to see him. Of course, two weeks later, Paul invited me to come with him to China, and naturally I accepted (how many times does one get to go to China?).
I was a bit torn over it. I mean, I had just spent $150 on three tickets that were going to go to waste, and I'm not particularly fond of flying either. But hey, the Sunscreen Song says to do one thing everyday that scares you, so I had to go, and I have seen DDY live before with and without Styx.
Turns out, I ended up "missing" a catagory 2 hurricane eyewall, which went right over both of our houses, a power outage that lasted a week, canceled gigs (that my trio group had booked - and turned into a duo for that weekend), and a lot of headaches. To top it off, because of the 11:00 curfew in S. Florida, the Dennis show was canceled and everyone who purchased tickets are to be given a full refund! Ha! I would have been SO PISSED had I stayed. LOL
To make things even better, after wandering around SzouXou(? - pronounced "SOO-choo") for three days searching for a decent cup of coffee, I finally found a little Italian coffee shop near our hotel which was delicious! Our first morning there, we sat and enjoyed our espresso and watched the locals scurry to and fro on the insanely busy little street. Out of nowhere, the overhead speakers started playing..."Desert Moon!" How in the HELL did THAT get here??? I was laughing myself stupid, but had no one nearby that could remotely appreciate the magnitude of strangeness.
So, in essence, I got more of a DDY fix in BFC than I would have in the new Windy City. So how about them apples? I may have had to eat crappy food and algae for a week, but we had electricity, drinkable water, and DDY. Another bar we went to played "Every Breath You Take." I've never been so happy to hear that song in my life.

So, things do sometimes work out in your favor!
