Alice Cooper on Styx.......

So I'm sitting here working, with Alice Cooper's syndicated radio show on in the background...and he plays Blue Collar Man.

Alice pulls no punches , so I decide to listen and see what he says about them after the song is through.

and He says ( Paraphrased )

That was Blue Collar Man, one of Styx non-Gay songs......

He went on to say what great guys are in the band, where they are playing tonight, and that they are playing at some holiday event or other that he ( Alice ) is organizing......blah, blah, blah.

As I recall, Alice made a couple of bucks off of songs including:

I Never Cry, You and Me, and Only Women Bleed that were certainly not Heavy Metal Classics.........no other comment, just thought it was an interesting thing to say.

This from a guy:

1. Named 'Alice'

2. Old enough to not need the skull eye make-up anymore, its natural now.

3. Who gets more face time playing golf than playing concerts.

4. Who had a bass player, Kip Winger, who left his band and single handedly destroyed the L.A. Metal scene.

5. Who most likely has grandkids that think the song about robots is neat.

Alice Cooper had the Damn Yankees at his show (concert) last year. He's friends with Tommy.

The money from his show goes to charity :)

This is the information for his show this year:

Alice Cooper’s Christmas Pudding
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2005 7:30 p.m.
DODGE THEATRE

Phoenix (October 28, 2005) – On Saturday, December 17, the fifth annual ALICE COOPER Celebrity Christmas Fundraiser, ALICE COOPER’S CHRISTMAS PUDDING, returns to DODGE THEATRE. As in previous years, Alice and Sheryl Cooper’s 21st century version of a variety show will feature musical, comedic and dance performances. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m.

In addition to Alice Cooper and his band, musical performers include STYX, Jeff Keith (lead singer of Tesla), Roger Clyne and from 93.3 KDKB, Pete and the Shortcummings. Award winning actor John O’Hurley, who most recently won the Dancing with the Stars title, returns as Master of Ceremonies. An encore performance with the Destiny Dancers will also be featured. Additional acts will continue to be announced, so stay tuned to 93.3 KDKB for updates. One of the evening’s infamous moments that has become a tradition will continue this year with the “Passing of the Pudding,” compliments of Mark Tarbell of Tarbell’s Restaurant.

With the success of last year’s “Proof’s in the Pudding”, Alice Cooper is once again inviting local artists from all musical backgrounds to participate in this year’s talent search. This year, there will be two grand prize winners. A solo artist as well as a band will each earn the opportunity to perform at this year’s Christmas Pudding. Aspiring musicians, bands, soloists, instrumental groups, etc. of all genres, wanting to participate in the competition can fill out a registration form at Alice Cooperstown on Friday, October 28 – Tuesday, November 8. For additional information, please call Alice Cooperstown at (602) 253-7337

The net proceeds will benefit Solid Rock Foundation, a Christian non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to local organizations who help children & teenagers. To date, the foundation has given out almost $1.2 million dollars to various groups in Arizona

Tommy's been a guest on his radio show I think a couple times. From what I remember with the last appearance, they were making fun of some of the STYX songs, pretty bad. I think I have it on cd (?)

Scott says:

This from a guy:

1. Named 'Alice'

His real name is: Vincent Damon Furnier

Why would he change it to Alice? LOL

2. Old enough to not need the skull eye make-up anymore, its natural now.

Very natural!! LOL

3. Who gets more face time playing golf than playing concerts.

I totally agree -LOL

4. Who had a bass player, Kip Winger, who left his band and single handedly destroyed the L.A. Metal scene.

I totally disagree, I love Kip!! That guys great!! :)

5. Who most likely has grandkids that think the song about robots is neat.

I don't think anytime soon, that's not one of his favorite songs - LOL

Yeah. Sure. Alice is an expert on "gay" and "non-gay" songs. I'll be sure to put his list on a sticky note in a prominent place so I can refer to it every now and then -- in case I forget.

Yeah, "warm fuzzies" for TS definately came thru on the air last night...

I wonder how many "Gay" fans Alice has :?: and if he would prefer they no longer spend their money on his CD's and Concerts 8)

Hey here's a thought....

IT WAs SARCASM! A joke, something said in jest, a funny ment to make his listeners laugh. Imagine

Cooper has recorded quite a few songs written or co-written by Tommy, My understanding is that they are friends and I think a simple little jab is all that was.

Sheesh

You gotta lotta nerve coming here with a sense of humor, Vince. A lotta nerve.

BTW, "gay" is often used to describe something cheesy or stupid (and even "happy") - not necessarily homosexual. I know it's not politically correct, but since when has Alice Cooper been PC??? Ever???

And I think all that's going on here is some sarcasm as well. Alice and Tommy can be friends. And he can poke fun at the band or Dennis. No biggie.

Sheesh

I ithought by now everybody here knew I'm not that passionate about any of this music stuff !

I could care less if he calls the music Gay......I was just wondering "out loud" what percentage of his fans ( who might REALLY be offended by use of the word in that fashion ) are Gay, and if he cares about that t all....

It's all good......

I know it was. I just love getting in an uproar with people making fun of STYX songs - LOL (I'm kind of kidding)

Yes, both Tommy and Jack helped write songs for Alice and they're all pretty good friends.

I think I'm on Neal's side. Does Neal have his own side like Tommy does? I really can't remember.

Hey, what's wrong with my Avatar? Any suggestions? Maybe I shouldn't ask - LOL

I was just kidding around there myself. Sarcasm. A JOKE. If you will.

I actually like ol' Alice. How can you NOT like someone who sang "School's out for summer! School's out forEVER!"

At the school where I used to work, the teachers would sing that song a heck of a lot louder than the kids on or about May 31st.

I think I'll keep Chuck as my picture for now

I actually like Alice Cooper. His music is okay, but his personality is great!! I liked watching him on the VH1 specials. He usually comes to town here every year.

I happened to tuned in to Alice about 6 months ago and he used the same comment about the Moody Blues...He said that their music was Gay...He went on to describe his meaaning of the use of gay as "Listening to their music(Moody Blues) was like being in touch with My feminine side.."

Still not homosexual. Just "sappy and sweet" in a satirical sorta way. I think Dennis is in touch with his feminine side. I think Tommy and Glen are too. Probably Gowan as well - just not as much with their music as their grooming habits or fondness for moisturizer and spiffy clothes.

Yet, he continues to play these "gay" artists and songs on HIS show. Hmmmm...

Did anyone see VH-1's LEAST Metal Moments? Alice was on there because he golfs and other rockers were slamming his golf attire.

In its usual snarky way, this was a fun show to watch. They sure didn't treat Damn Yankees too well on it.

What "gay" artists or songs are you refering to....He said Blue Collar Man was a non-gay Styx song and he just made reference to the Moody Blues without playing their music....Hmmmm...

O.K., I understand what you are saying (BTW, Dennis was wearing a pink shirt While performing his sound check at On The Water Front back in September...Just thought I let you know...), but the problem is that Alice didn't clarify himself when he made those comments and he left those comments open to interpetation to the average listener...Plus the fact that the term gay is standard in its use to homosexuals because that is the term that most gays prefer in referring to themselves...So it could be easy to get the wrong idea....
