If you could go back in time and see a Styx concert that you missed or maybe wasn't even born yet (LOL) which concert or Styx tour would you like to see?

I think I would like to go back to the Paradise Theater tour in 1981

ANYTHING from 1991!!! I could find Glen and tell him he'd be playing in Styx with Tommy in 1999 and freak him out. LOL

Or the show in 1999 when Tommy split his pants. I heard that was a riot.

The Styx/Kansas tour in 1977. Both bands in their heyday and prime. Grand Illusion would be brand new and they'd still be playing wooden nickel material. Kansas was really coming into their own at the time too.

Way back,I am pretty sure it was at the time Crystel Ball, they were on a small European tour.I happened to open a Swedish newspaper and in the entertainment section, there was an add for Styx in concert(in Stockholm,no dates in Denmark).Unfortunately it had just happened or it was 'tomorrow'.Too late to do something about, but it could have been my first concert trip ,(if my mom would have let me).
It could have happened if just ,I had known about this in good time.It is the only time I ever looked at a Swedish paper, and the last.

Ditto, Scott. This would have been a terrfic one!

Also, Styx '75? '76? Where they performed "Born for Adventure" in concert.

Oh, I thought of that one too!! But the only thing with that concert is, that it was way too short!!

I love hearing "Born For Adventure" live. Just think, I didn't even care for that song that much until last year and reading about it on this board over and over :) Now I just LOVE it!!

They played my hometown of Davenport IA on the Equinox tour just after Tommy joined the band. I couldn't make the show. But a lot of my friends were there and told me how great it was. :(

I missed the cornerstone tour in 1979, or the one they did in Atlanta in 1996 with the orchestra.

Weird, but they played it in their opening symphony medley back in 1996. Why didn't they play the whole thing? Oh, maybe because they had to add "Miss America" with a symphony? LOL

What in the world were they thinking to have "Miss America" with a symphony? That's just not right. Ack!

Thank goodness Dennis added to his shows. One of the best songs, especially with a symphony. IMO

Imagine how the symphony met. In all honesty, I like the words and intent to Miss America. I guess though after hearing JY scream it for so long, I've grown tired of it. It is my least favorite track from the Atlanta symphony boot.

I'm not sure they were thinking, though I do think it took some courage to try it with an orchestra.

It's a great song and I do like it with the orchestra. Now if he would only add some others....

I guess they needed a JY song with the symphony, but that one - just terrible. It was horrible!! Any other song would've been better.

Courage?? You're just posting nice - LOL

He's adding 2 more soon  I "think" one (from Wooden Nickel era) will be geared for the Lost Treasures show and the other (from his solo (?) with the orchestra, if I'm not mistaken. But I've been wrong SO many times - LOL

Well to be honest...it's not as if JY had any recognizable songs other than Miss America at that point. At least now he can add These Are The Times (which I actually like). Back then...they were limited in their choices.

Courage?? You're just posting nice - LOL

I try...I try.

Time will tell. But I do hope he does. And you know my preferences...

You??? Wrong??? Perish the thought

froy says 'they were on fire back then'.
gr8dane says'They sure were,or more like a raging bonfire.'
And sure enough,Mr. D would ruin everything, and turn it into a candlelit dinner with Mrs.D, serving up wet noodles, and desert would be very heavy on the zaccarine, with 3 scoops of sugar on top, for good measure.

Okay, I'd also go back to 1972 at the Milwaukee Lakefront and make sure to bring a decent video camera.

I was just watching the "Best Thing" video and it would've been great to see this early show. Love the bell bottoms - LOL

I would choose 3.

My first choice would be the tour before Tommy joined Styx. Did they tour for the Man Of Miracles album?? Was it a bar tour, or were they supporting some other act?? . I would have loved to see John C. perform live. Did Styx ever playThe Serpent Is Rising, A Day, or You Better Ask live?? How about Golden Lark, Evil Eyes, or A Song For Suzzane.

Second Tommy's first Styx tour supporting Equinox. To hear Born For Adventure, and Midnight Ride live would of been awesome.

Finally, when Styx started to head line at the end of their Grand Illusion tour. I bet they were on fire!!!

I saw The Main Event Tour back in 1978, and every tour since except The Grand Decathelon, and Return To Paradise.

I dont think that Styx has ever played I'm OK, but I may be wrong.

Pretty sure I have it on a boot.
And it was a great rendition.

Their back catalog is impressive and I know we all would love to hear other songs than the hits.

Love I'm O.K.

You know, you can see Dennis just working on trying to hear this song properly, in that little shakey video, LOL.

"Best Thing" sounds really great in concert now. Keyboards, vocals, the whole thing, just some great rock and roll....from that "Broadway guy."
