Top 5 vs Top 5

Postby classicstyxfan » Tue Nov 29, 2005 11:44 am

OK........here's a new twist on our favorite topics Since the 2 sides split up , list 5 things ( songs, interviews, holding their tongue....could be whatever you think fits ) each side can be most proud of.........

If you prefer to start a flame war, you could also go with the 5 things each side should be ashamed of.......I prefer to remain positive.

Here's my lists:

Styx

1. One with Everything
2. These are the Times
3. Raw Stamina
4. Playing the Superbowl
5. I am The Walrus

Dennis

1. Black Wall
2. Soundstage
3 Taking the high(er) ground in interviews
4. My God ( can beat up your God )
5. Goodnight my Love

Discuss amongst yourselves !

Classic, I really cannot help you here. I am just not versed enough in Current Styx to think of anything I truly like. There was one song on Cyclo that I liked, maybe One with Everything, and I sorta like Tommy's singing and the guitar work on Can't Find My Way Back Home.

Two positives there from my perspective.

Oh and I have a copy of the Cyclo medley and it really is quite good except for the Gowan parts.

Dennis:

1. Positive Interviews (considering everything)
2. Role in The Perfect Man
3. Selling out the Canada dates (I'm so proud)
4. Moving forward, double live cd & Soundstage
5. Television Appearances, ESPECIALLY on Star Academie - UNBELIEVABLE performance

Styx:

1. Cyclomedley (thanks Bugsy), even though the songs are teasers, I still like to hear the music live.
2. Never-ending Tour, politics aside, the name Styx is still out there
3. Publicly giving to charities, especially for Hurricane Katrina & 9/11
4. Big Daddy, Shaw's name used & Renegade commerical
5. SuperBowl appearance

These are in no particular order;

Styx:

1. Getting Glen back
2. Cyclorama- Brilliant CD
3. Their 1999 Brave New World Tour- Totally AWESOME
4. Playing ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE, almost daily, just like a new band starting out. Keeping the name & catalog alive while exposing their music to a new generation.
5. Tommy organizing, and then doing The Volunteers For America Shows

Dennis:

1. Showing Class in amost every interview.
2. Being a GREAT interview.
3. Doing alot of behind the scenes fundraising work
4. Putting On GREAT live shows, while keeping that AWESOME voice in better than ever shape.
5. Getting over the past, but keeping an open mind so that door will ALWAYS remain open at least on his end.

OK, I will take a non-music stab at this:

Styx:

1. Total professionals in their performances. Great musicianship.
2. Hold their fans in the highest regard.
3. Charity work on many levels.
4. Exposure in their current lineups on the Today Show, Regis and Kelly, Super Bowls and at football and baseball games.
5. “Renegade” being used for a commercial.

Dennis:

1. Total professional in all his performances. Amazing voice still perfection.
2. Holds his fans in the highest regard.
3. Always willing to help with charities around the country.
4. Jimmy Kimmel Live, Star Academie, MSNBC, CNN, ESPN, Soundstage, & PBS Pledge Drives all over the US
5. His compositions, and vocal work with Styx, have been EVERYWHERE – commercials and TV programs. TWICE on the highly rated “Cold Case.”

Good & interesting topic:

Styx's most glimmering accomplishments since 1999:

1. Cyclorama
2. The spinning keyboard (you know I had to do it)
3. Glen - brilliant idea! Thanks, Chuck!
4. Superbowl & European tours
5. Gowan catching my panties with his teeth

(Just kidding!)

5 (for real). Keeping the love-fest going and the Styx name out there.

Dennis' glimmering accomplishments:

1. Another year married (only being a *little* sarcastic here - I'm sure he would even agree on this one)
2. Losing the public bitterness
3. Castle Walls
4. Pieces of Eight
5. Movin' on

Styx's and Denny's not-so glimmering accomplishments:

1. "work done" on anyone, anywhere
-Zan :)

believe me, i know my Styx
