OMG?? What next? Styx & Orchestra

Postby SuiteMadameBlue » Wed Nov 30, 2005 3:42 am

Okay, let's get the party started, again - LOL

I know Styx was going to change their set list for 2006, but MORE Dennis songs? UGH

"BABE"?????????????

http://www.tbca.com/index.htm

Styx in 2006!! Don't miss one of rock and roll's greatest acts when they hit our Stage on April 5, 2006! Original band members Tommy Shaw (guitar/vocals), James Young (guitar/vocals), Chuck Panozzo (bass/vocals) are joined by Todd Sucherman, Rick Phillips and Canada's own Lawrence Gowan (vocals/keyboards) will perform such classics as "Babe", "Lady", "Come Sail Away", "Show Me the Way", "Too Much Time on My Hands"...the list goes on and on!!!

Sorry Scott...but I've heard Gowan do this one. While not a favorite of mine...please let someone other than Gowan perform Babe. Please????

You know, this is a fact, call the venue and ask the box office how many people called to see if Dennis will be performing with Styx at this concert.

Seriously.

I'll bet any money that the song titles on the above website will be changed WITHIN THIS HOUR!!!

Just a hunch

I wouldn't worry too much. My guess is that the venue saw "Styx" was coming and picked the songs they "knew". Much like that that guy on Ebay who posted a picture of Styx for Journey, or venues who still promote Dennis with the band, people just don't take the time to research websites or update themselves with what is going on. The last time THIS Styx did Babe was in Japan, just because that song is HUGE HUGE HUGE over there and they were asked by the promoters to do it.

True, Angie....But, there is almost no joy in pointing out the obvious to those who insist on ignoring it. You do know this paragraph was a complete waste of time, right? LOL ;-)

Of course we know it is the promoters, venues, etc. But it DOES get old. It seems after THIS long, some of these people booking Current Styx would know what was going on.

No it wasn't a waste of time. It was put there to sell tickets. Promoters do it all the time.

It's not the band's fault or problem with how they're being promoted. It's the band's management, well every band's management, should be sending the promo information to the promoter's on what to use.

These promoter's know what's going on when they are promoting Styx. They've been around for a few years or so :) They didn't check with the Magic 8 ball on which bands to pick, they do their homework.

I personally think the band management is doing this just to get me all fired up - LOL  It's working guys

Angie or anyone out there, did you hear the Japan version of "Babe"? What did you think if you did? Seriously, honest opinions.

I heard about it second hand from a friend who was at the shows they played it at. If I remember correctly, it wasn't uh...very good.(ala Gowan's Best of Times)

I have heard the Larry sung version of Babe. Lets just say it's not his best effort. It even makes his version of Rockin' the Paradise sound good.

I think we all "spout off about nothing" from time to time. But a lot of us have fun with it. Some seem to have a problem with it, though. But that's ok. It takes all sorts to make a world....and a board. :)

You're assuming that these people care about Styx half or even 1/10th as much about Styx as we do. And even if they did "know what's going on," they're a PROMOTER. It's their job to PROMOTE a show. That means, mentioning hits the casual person might recognize to get them to buy tickets. Once they're in the door, the promoter could give two shits whether or not they actually play the stuff listed, and 97% of the time, the casual fan doesn't notice much either.

Seriously, if it's getting old, then stop micromanaging it. If you no longer appreciate Styx because DDY is gone, then stop following the tour schedule and promotion tactics. Unless, of course, you're looking for something to bitch about...in which case, you've no one to blame but yourself when you get sick of seeing it.

What? And let the petty Styx slamming go unchecked? Shirley, you can't be serious. :-D

Besides, I wasn't addressing YOU exclusively or directly. I'm addressing everyone who keeps asking the same "rhetorical" questions, when all of it has been discussed and re-discussed over a thousand times in the last 6 years, and presents them as though they're being asked for the first time.

Likewise, those who have a problem with a promoter using past Styx hits as bait to get audiences in the door, maybe THEY should skip over that and save themselves (and the rest of us) the grief!

I respond to what's posted here as well. Too bad half of it is riddled with trite bitterness like that of a pre-teen who never got over his parent's separation.

There really isn't any. LOL...Unless being fed up is the same as being bitter. 8)

Although, you remind me of an online interview I did with Glen one time, and I saked him "What's the trick to surviving the Jersey highways?" His answer was "Assume everyone else is Helen Keller." Then he said, "But let's get something straight: Everyone drives like sh*t - 'cept me."

I can only imagine. This is the same guy who says he does some of his best writing in the car. LOL

Styx in 2006!! Don't miss one of rock and roll's greatest acts when they hit our Stage on April 5, 2006! Original band members Tommy Shaw (guitar/vocals), James Young (guitar/vocals), Chuck Panozzo (bass/vocals) are joined by Todd Sucherman, Rick Phillips and Canada's own Lawrence Gowan (vocals/keyboards) will perform such classics as "Renegade", " Snowblind", "Too Much Time on My Hands"...the list goes on and on!!!

OK, they changed it. Hope everyone is happy.
